All I did was make sure they were clean, masked off the timber to make sure there was no overspray and then used a spray paint specific to metal, if you go to any hardware store, they would be able to advise you on a suitable paint. If these were already painted, you would want to scuff the surface and remove any loose or flaking paint before your top coat. Any rust can be sanded out or treated using rust converters, and a hardware store would also be able to advise on a suitable product. Hope that helps, good luck.

I don't know exactly where to get the spring from, but I'd think that most machinery spare parts stores would be able to match something for you, like vespertools.com.au/product/jointer-planer-spring-guard/ (I'm not sure of your region). Howdy, they were 8mm Ankascrews, so the drill bit size was 8mm, (that's how they are designed). This concrete pad was fairly thin, so I ended up drilling completely through, but I'd recommend drilling 10mm more than the embedment depth so if any dust gets caught in the bottom of the hole it won't stop the screw going in, make sure to blow out the hole before using the screws. I did think about that and the main reason for going the way I did was to make a smoother side on the inside, so hopefully pulling brush and things like that out would be easier. Whether it makes a lot of difference or not I don't know, but the stronger way to go would be to flip it around. Cheers. 😀
