Jamie's Workshop Projects

Добавлен 16 май 2020
Just an average person who's watched way too many woodworking videos on RUclips and thought, I can do that.
Well it turns out I can't... However, by tackling 1 project at a time I hope to develop my skills, grow in confidence and feel comfortable talking in front of a camera (which is far from natural for me).
Thanks for watching :)

Replace an Energer ENB672DBT Pillar Drill Drive Belt
Random question: i have the same drill that has stopped working. On the back off the motor is a cover with two screws containing a capacitor. Mine has melted and taken out all the markings so i can't buy a replacement. Might you be able to have a look on yours and let me know what rating it has? The markings start CBB60
Excellent thank you loads happy woodworking
Very good review, very useful thank you
I just made some waiting for glue to dry, but i mixed sawdust with glue to fill in loose areas better. Gonna sand excess glue and use my vinegar steelwool stain on them.
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking at buying my first saw. Maybe replace the fence screws with countersinked ones and recess them slightly?
Love your clear and detailed vids and showing how good results can come with a little care and common sense. But WHY OH WHY do you ( and the vast majority of woodworking youtubers) feel the need to record the sounds of your machinery ? You wear ear defenders for a reason, but the noise, although not dangerous, is certainly irritating to me. Talking - great, music - sometimes, tool noise - no need at all.
Great video mate. Where do you buy your plywood and what’s the cost of an 18mm sheet? Many thanks
Thanks, I have had the exact same problem, so I will order a new blade myself, cheers from Carlinghow, Batley
Great review, thanks for sharing. Is the riving knife quick release or does it require tools to remove?
Thank you fella. It requires a spanner to release the 2 bolts

Hi, any idea how many amps this table saw draws on startup?
Hi, sorry I have no clue on start up but a uk 13amp plug is fitted
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 appreciate the response. Thank you.
First class video you given me lots of ideas for my workshop Thanks
sorry but what do you mean with "you have to adjust this" or "these"? Your blade seems to be off centre. there are a few very good videos on YT of how to adjust the bearings (see my first question), line up the blade (indent of the deep part of the blade at the middle of the rubber track), and advice how tight the blade has to be in ration to the bearings (back and forth movements). Aligning the guides (left and right movement) has to be so that it never touches the blade when running and not cutting should never touch any bearings or guides. (ruclips.net/video/wGbZqWac0jU/видео.html)
Watch that arm on the chop saw
good timing, im thinking of getting this saw, do you find any deflection in the fence?
I had an issue when locking down the fence it was pulling inwards towards the blade but after some adjustment it’s now parallel. I’ve also got to push with quite a bit of force at the far end to get any deflection. Hope this helps!
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 thanks jamie
The inserts is only aluminium. You can pop a hole in them easy. My main issue is the riving knife, such a faff removing it.
Nice video! Great transformation. - I’m wondering.. how has the ceiling held up over time, is there any condensation issues? I have a garage similar size to yours, metal corrugated sheet roof I’ve got lots of condensation I’m looking to order PIR boards to insulate, plastic sheet then osb… would you recommend installing the insulation boards tight up to the metal roof? Thanks this would be really helpful.
Thanks buddy. The ceiling is holding fine and has been up 5 or 6 years now. I had 1 issue with leaking which came from either the nail fixing from above or a gap where the sheets overlapped but after scraping the moss from the roof and adding some sealant to the roof fixings it hasn’t leaked since. I also had an issue before insulating with my tools rusting in winter which doesn’t happen now. I left around a 20mm air gap between the insulation and the walls/roof. 2 things I would do differently is to add noggings between the framing and have plywood boards instead of osb. Hope this gives you an insight 👍🏻
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Very helpful 👍 thank you, noggins to support the osb boards is it? I will do just that, there is no ventilation between the joists and space in the roof so I’ve been wondering and found very hard to find information on the internet whether to put insulation board tight to the roof or to leave an air gap. Thanks you
@@WOOOODLY noggins between the studwork in the walls too. Nothing has moved or bowed but it’s just the proper way to do it (I was too cheap). If your garage has a side vent like mine, I’d put another one in at the opposite side to create some kind of air flow as well 👍🏻
This is a workbench I wouldn’t want to stub my toe on! Great video.
Thanks bud, it’s still absolutely solid!
Where did you get the longer fence rail? Did that come with the saw or was it an upgrade you had to purchase?
Excellent project! I like the simplicity
Thank you!
Instead of that cylindrical wood can i use pvc pipe as alternate?
I couldn’t say to be honest as I haven’t tried it but I have seen pictures of it done
Well done! This is my aim for the bottom of the garden. I noticed you can pick up old concrete garages for free so am hoping to find one in good condition. Do you need any heating in your workshop?
Thank you buddy! A concrete garage is a good idea and there’s no many people wanting rid of theirs 👍🏻 I’d recommend trying to get one which doesn’t have a sloping roof because of the lack of head room at the back end and to insulate it so your tools won’t go rusty 🙂
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Good advice! I will bare that in mind. I'm also thinking about doing away with the up and over door and replacing it with patio doors...when the time comes. They seem to be easy to pick for nothing too.
Great video really helpful changing my blade later today and instructions in manual were rubbish
Thanks bud 🙂
Hello, I was looking at buying this saw but haven't been certain because of only having a 430mm max wide cut, but are you saying that if you switch the fence to the left side and use the left side extension (when you need to make wider cuts) you can max that out to 560-575mm? You say there is a way to go even wide, would you mind explaining please? :) Cheers
Morning, yes I have wider cuts with the fence on the left. You can make a wider cut by flipping your workpiece around but if you have a large workpiece the overhang can make handling a bit of a struggle. I’d also recommend looking at a video from matt at badger workshop (I should have included this in the video) as he has/had the 216mm saw and extended the right side to increase capacity 👍🏻
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Morning, thanks for the reply. So is the 560 cut on the left side pretty comfortable to do? Also, if you have a link to the badger workshop video that be great, can't seem to find it?
@@BEBE-qm6rq I find the workpiece more supported at 560 than 575. I believe the video is called ‘badger workshop new wing and mitre slot’ definitely worth a watch to keep the fence on right side
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Got it, thanks man
Good to have you back making videos Jamie.
great video!

Hi Jamie, How do u fing adjusting the riving knife? I find it a royal pain in the ass 🤪
Exactly as you put it! 😆
Interesting review. Nice looking saw but there seems to be a few down sides to all the saws on the market these days. I love my Charnwood but there were lots of things I didn't think were planned well. I am surprised how much dust stayed on the top. Does it do the same if you just connect the extractor to the body? Great that you cover all the practical uses of the saw, might try doing the same for my own... Cheers.
Thanks Ben. The dust port at the rear is 100mm and it has a feed coming in from the top hose so I can’t just have it body only unless I cap it off somehow. Shame there’s no Axminster shop near me so I could try before I buy lol. Still would have bought it. Do it, it’ll be interesting to find out about the Charnwood 🙂
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 sounds like mine but I blocked the side inlet with a plastic bottle top. Can't use the riving knife much because I use different thickness blades and the wood traps on it. Made throat plates out of laminate flooring - they're solid. Will do a review soon. Cheers!
Can I ask how you dealt with uk building regs please?
It’s a domestic garage, not commercial or habitable.
Hey man.. Howe are u moving about in that small shop with such a huge workbench? It massive bro.. Great job on the drawers and cabinet my bro. U need to make it so u can do some talking over the work. I'd prefer that so u could let us in on some of the things u actually went thru in this build. Just a thought bro. Great job anyways. I'm about to move into my little workshop soon. Gotta paint the shithole up first. Build new front and back doors for it as well before I put my very expensive shit in there.. haha! I gotta titan saw too bro.. Next year I'll upgrade to the Axminister saw u got. I love the look of it but I was also going to think about the Saw stop on the market for the same price.. I think it's 899 dollars too..
It didnt last long. Miss having a big workbench but it just gathered crap so I only used a small portion of it. Have a look at lumberjack ts1800 as well. That’s one I would consider now, cast iron and big fence
Hello my friend, nice choice. It's a good tool. Thank you for the introduction and details. Ll see. All the best.
Thank you
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 🤩🤩😍🤩
I have the AC216, also a great saw. A fly on the wall told me it’s perfectly possible to take an angle grinder to the riving knife. If it makes you feel better, you can tell yourself you’ll order a replacement so you can still use the crown guard…
I did that with my Titan before this and it bent the riving knife slightly so I’ve learnt my lesson. Think I’ll order a spare to try on before doing it to my actual one next time lol
This is the saw I was planning to buy when they were on the Axminster clearance sale but as I live in the Isle of Man they wanted over £250 for shipping so that wiped out any saving from the sale, and when I'd arranged an alternative delivery to a UK address to collect at a later date they'd sold out. I've also checked the specifications for the AC254TS and the AW254TS and they are identical so apart from a new paint job what was the point of the rebranding and the price increase?
Wow that’s expensive for shipping. Did you manage to get another saw or are you holding out for one of these?
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 I've not got one yet, I was only buying it because it was such a good deal at the time and with the discount code and claimed "Free Delivery" it was less than £600. I started to place the order online but when I tried to enter my delivery address it set alarm bells ringing and I was told to contact their sales dept to arrange shipping.
Thank you. I saw your previous video when I was choosing….mine is still in the garage waiting to be unboxed since having just moved house. But looking forward to it. Thanks for your insights!
My pleasure buddy 🙂
Nice to see you back, i cant disagree with what you said it is a good saw i own the ac216 its a good saw the main issue i have with it is when putting the lever down to hold the fence the fence flexs over to the right and very stiff on setting the angle of the blade to a 45d, as for dust collection i put 25mm strips of foam around 3 sides between the case and the table which helped out massively as only using a smaller lumberjack hoover.
Thanks bud. I’ll have to try the foam trick because the dust extractor is great with the cnc in particular. I should have included the fence flexing in the vid actually but I forgot. Mine was the same but there’s enough play in the bolt slots to rectify this. I angled it slightly towards the blade so when I replaced the bolts and tightened the fence down it was parallel to the blade.
👍 👍👍👍👍👍🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓 ❤ ❤ ❤
It’s been a while, and wondered if you were coming back lol.
Aye, and I can’t believe people have stayed subscribed. thanks for sticking round ☺️
Well done you.keep it up
Alri bro.. I have a question?? My saw I bought a month ago and it doesn't have those bars that are connected to the extra parts/wings for the top.. Those bars that support the side panels/wings were not in my table saw box.. I think I was sold a dud that some asshole stole parts from my machine.. These screwfix lot will sell returned saws to the next guy thru the door.. That's not right imho but they get away with it til now..
It might be worth while contacting screwfix to see if they can send you some out bud. It is proper frustrating when you buy an item and it comes with parts missing
@@jamiesworkshopprojects1617 Thanks for the reply bro.. Appreciate it very much. I'm going to see if they send them out to me bcos my table is not straight and through on top. It's all over the place to be fair. These table tops are the worst I've ever seen on anything.I think I'm going to have to build a cross sled jig of some kind but I'm not sure what difference it will make.. Could u tell me if it is possible to take the top off and straighten it out that way with some washers or something? I might look into that as well bro but thanks for ur reply anyways. Appreciate it man
@@reaper060670 I remember mine wasn’t flat either. I ended up removing the rear wing and sitting the saw up against an out feed table instead. I also made a zero clearance insert and a mitre sled because the mitre gauge which comes with the saw was pretty useless. I remember watching Szilard Pinter on RUclips when I got the saw as he had a lot of Titan tools and go the zero clearance idea from him
Cheers bro.. Just sub'd to ur channel my friend.. I have just bought me a loada TITAN shite mate.. I got the table saw, the Planer Thicknesser and I was going to get the band saw but for some reason I didn't feel it but after watching a couple of videos from u and another English lad on here I'm going to plump for this one too. The Table saw is a bit of a pig tbf. The table is not level in one corner but I couldn't be arsed to take it back. I'm gonna have a shufty round inside and have a butchers to see if there are any bolts underneath that I can move it with. It's the left front corner of the table that's off by a few mil but if it can't be sorted then I'm gonna take it off and put my own top on it anyways.. If anybody in the comments has had this trouble and changed their tops could u let me know how it went?? Nice one for the video lad. I was looking at getting a Grizzly from the US but trying to get those Yankers to send one to me is right hard work. I found a manufacturer here in IRELAND but they want both arms and legs for one.. Yeah I'm not paying 4-5 grand for one for me garage.. Every junkie in the town will be after it although they'll have to rob a feckin' truck 1st to be able to carry the fcuker.. LMAO.. Anyways bro I enjoyed the video and sub'd as I said. I'm in the process of kitting out me garage for a workshop. I can't wait man. I'll finally have a place to make enough noise so the little bastds cannot be heard anymore. Locks on the front and back door. Switch on the machines and bang a couple of hookers for fun and games.. oh and I'll be doin' the odd bitta woodworking as well .. Laters pal,,
Out of the Titan tools I have I think the bandsaw is my favourite. I upgraded from the Titan table saw last year and haven’t looked back
Great video Jamie. What draw slides did you use? and would you recommend them?
Thanks for the comment Pete. Ive used a couple of different soft close ones from Amazon. I do recommend them although the cheaper silver ones I’ve had 1 issue with the soft close not engaging
That's a very sad looking screwdriver rack 😢
It’s even sadder now they’re in my tool box!
Does it cut a good straight line? and also at a 45 degree tilt? I just want to make shelves and I can't cut a straight line for the life of me lol
What an excellent build! I really enjoyed listening to your voice-overs. Thank you for killing the music during the voice-overs. I does so annoy me when RUclipsrs forget to do that! Just a hint - I have a similar vice. The little dog on the front is really handy, but I replaced the original steel version with one made from oak. It's a little more hand-plane friendly, now :-) By the way, I'm about to have a single garage converted into a workshop, so I'd really appreciate it if you could do a tour of your workshop - I'm sure that you will have had some great ideas on making an efficient workshop in a small space.
bumped into this…… many similar ideas to me…. I installed an electric roll shutter to save headroom and also put a "patio" awning over the door that runs out 2m to give me extra space to work with rain cover. rather than "built-ins" most of my floor cabinets are on wheels….
Are you able to lower the blade to the lowest position at 45° tilt? I can not do it with older model as the saw blade guard catching the frame. Thanks
Not important but..... Please stick to the British nomenclature used in relation to timber. 4" by 2" yanks say 2" by 4"
Great build but why did you go to all that trouble and then change it all for an axminster ?
Great video and fantastic build
