Please check if it still supports sideloading content from Calibre. Because Amazon keeps removing certain books from the Kindle Store and people will want to know if they can sideload those DRM-free books from other stores or Project Gutenberg, etc.

It seems that the update is not so big to worth a upgrade.

The new paperwhite is more neutral, which happens to be warmer than the default 'cool' color of the 11th gen. If you put both at the same brightness next to a piece of paper, the 12th gen is much closer to natural white than the 11th, which has an unnatural blue hue to it. I love the new 12th gen

Color and writing aren't important to me. I wish we had an Kindle with the size of the Scribe to read. It would be cheaper.

Beast blender is gorgeous but the performance is subpar. It’s hard to get the contents out after blending. I still haven’t found a personal blender that beats the performance of my $60 ninja.

The new paperwhite is not really bigger (unnoticeable mm), the bezel is smaller.

Thanks for the video! I have the 2021 Paperwhite too and was sort of torn at the announcement on if I should go for the color or the new Paperweight with the nice contrast and speed improvements, but I ended up falling for the intrigue of color, even just in the library mode and seeing all the covers, it looks so cool. Since I will sometimes enjoy a graphic novel or comic here and there, and I love new tech, I bit the bullet and ordered the Colorsoft. I hope it looks as good in person and I hope it's as fast as the new Paperwhite. Fingers crossed! But yeah please do a video / review on it. I'd watch even though I already bought it LOL.

Very polished and helpful video. How much percentage of improvement is the clarity, blackness, and contrast of the text compared the 11th gen? Another vote of a Kindle Colorsoft review when it's released.

I've been wanting to update my 8th gen paperwhite for the beautiful sage green paperwhite but since these newer ones came out I wanted to see if these were better. I will admit, I am slightly disappointed that there's no longer a sage green option, even though that pink one looks beautiful. I'm tempted to see if I can find a 10th gen sage green paperwhite since they're probably gonna go on sale…much to think about

I’m usually a ride or die physical book person, but I’ve been wanting a Kindle! I’m highly considering the new paperwhite, but can’t decide if I want the standard or signature🤔honestly I don’t think the color soft is worth the price but just my opinion. How heavy is it compared to the previous model? 🤔 That was my complaint with the last model, was that it was harder to hold in bed because of the weight. Also, I can’t wait to try out the Color model and to watch a comparison between the two! I like reading manga, so it’ll be interesting to see.

I really do appreciate your perspective on Apple’s design language. You do a great job of describing what it is about small UI things that aren’t good. Things I have noticed almost subconsciously, but not quite sure why they’re awful. The iMessage menu is a perfect example - it’s terrible and doesn’t feel apple at all, but I couldn’t describe why without just complaining that “it sucks”. Great vid!

I understand your point with the control center, and I agree it doesn’t feel very Apple. Overall it does feel kind of half-baked and riddled with bugs. That being said, the control center customization is literally the #1 thing that made me switch from being an avid Android user since the iPhone 5 days, to purchasing an iPhone and migrating into iOS. I was so pissed at the last Android update that made all of my quick toggles MASSIVE and I HATED having to swipe down twice for brightness, across for more than 6 quick settings, and no way to revert it or change it. I cannot express enough how important this customization feature is to me. I hope it improves!

That’s crazy to see the iPhone users going crazy with this customisation that Apple provided… the point of IOS was simplicity even though there was no way to edit the screen as much as on android, so now the android users came full circle to aesthetic minimalism and IOS goes to this very strange route? I’m an iPhone user since iPhone 4s and I loved the company choices, but lately it’s such a flop 🫡

Potentially the sloppiest aspect of the new Control Center is how difficult it is to arrange icons where you want them. Moving one icon to an open space is likely to cause the entire layout to re-shuffle into a completely arbitrary arrangement. It all makes me wonder if Apple announced they'll be moving away from scheduled refresh cycles because they had to rush these products out the door and the products are below standard. Your video is the first I've seen to mention the weird gap between the Home Screen icons and the dock but it drove me nuts to see all that unusable space (and makes the most reachable layouts with the icons at the bottom look ...bad). Great video! Super insightful and to-the-point. Keep up the good work!

i’m still struggling in between apple music and tidal, cause tidal’s been a better service, but you can’t download local files. so if i buy an album i have to like download it to my files album or something, it’s super sticky

I suspect you probably don't have enough experience with it to nitpick it as much, but I'd love you to make a vid about Android UI design (stock one). I think google's material design and how it evolved into Material You is very interesting, it manages to be very friendly yet brutalist. Especially seek out the new Pixel Weather app!

another point is the Human Interface Guidelines, which lays out Apple's design guidelines to be followed by developers. But it feels like, more and more 1st party experiences are not following their own rules.

I've installed probably hundreds of Sonos speakers systems and Sound Bars when I worked for Best Buy and it was hard enough teaching the clients how to use the app but once they got familiar with it they were fine I can't imagine how confused they are with this update and how mad they are about their purchase a lot of them were older than 60
