i made my own harness mount, based on standard products, so you can change the angle, length etc. very easy, and all carbon so you don't fel it at all. next to that I use the flymounts (the old one and the new one) but be careful when using the standard GoPro connection as it's plastic fantastic and with a long extension it's not that durable...

It’s worth noting that any camera on top of the helmet gets in the way when water-starting.

It puzzles me why most of you pro guys don't use the utility frame and put a leash on it. Can you please test the new insta360 back bar with the action stick. Is it strong enough for windsurfing or should one look for a different stick?

Amüsanterweise waren es gerade Deine Videos, die mich seinerzeit zum Kauf der One X2 nötigten 😉😂 Ich nutze sie hauptsächlich beim windsurfen und auch beim tauchen. Ich musste sie leider dieses Jahr gegen eine X3 tauschen, da mir im überhitzten Hotelzimmer der Akku geplatzt ist😢 Also immer Akku entfernen. Warum keine X4? Weil für mich der Mehrwert nicht erkennbar war. Denn das Thema GPS bewegt mich leider auch, es nervt völlig. Zumal man von insta zwar hört, daß die Fernbedienung wasserdicht sein soll, aber offiziell auf der Website steht es nicht ⁉️ Auch die Kopplung mit meiner Garmin funktioniert nicht sehr gut. Vielleicht hast Du ja die Möglichkeit da "Druck" zu machen 😉 Denn so teuer und zu groß kann der GPS Chip auch nicht sein. Last but not least, wie vermeidest Du die Wassertropfen auf der Linse? Das Angebot bei insta dazu ist eher kontraproduktiv, da sich beim Linsenschutz wie auch dem "Überzieher" immer wieder Wasser sammelt. Meinen nächsten Test dazu werde ich mal mit RainEx fur Motorradvisiere machen. Hangloose und weiter so 👍🏼👏🏼

Nice video, thanks. But from all these kind of videos I miss the talk and detailed showing of how to add extra security, and how often do you lose or break something? You guys are sponsored, but most of us aren't, so we can't afford to lose 500 bucks every now and then. Also more details about actual water proofness would be nice. It's supposed to be, but I guess there are limits? Especially for non pros that spend more time in the water? And what about stories of violent catapults leading maybe to damage / loss? Also lens scratching could be an issue, maybe tips here could also be added. I personally already lost one insta360 to the bottom of a lake despite trying my best to secure it. And also lost another one to water damage.

nice video , my favorite is to mount camera on the end of boom, camera stays close to water and you see how works your legs and you can see your speed. i made camera holder in my design . how its works you can see in my videos

good vid, i have also tried almost all ways since gopro max was released(my 3rd now and the last gopro ever), head with stick is the worst because the helmet wobble around on the head so much with the extra weight of the camera. my favourite was from the hip, it gave really the feeling of speed and still se how board and rig from boom and down moved.

Of course INSTA 360 is better then GO PRO!!! I use their camera since 2020. I have an INSTA ONE R, a ONE RS and a X3 😉

I also use the X4 after the X2 and X3. In my case, I use it in 8k 29.7 images per second, because it can, and I put the details to low instead of medium for a more cinematic look, I don't like when it's oversharpened and digital look. I never use the app, I prefer to edit the files on my computer with their own software. The best action cam for windsurf 👍

I could never get the water droplet off the gopro max lens. Made it basically useless in the water.

It's true that the insta 360 makes Amados jumps look much higher than yours nico 😊

GOPRO clips: There is clearly water on the lens which is distorting the image and making it blurry. The shot is also on an extreme wide angle, the top of the mast with some sky above and the mast foot on the board. INSTA360: Less water on the lens, just a few tiny drops. Less wide angle, the mast foot is not visible and only to just above the boom is in shot. So there will be a lot less detail in the actual sailor and sail on the GoPro clips. If you want to do a like for like comparison, use the same angle of view on both, on dry land. Do it on your bike if you want an action shot. If when on the water, the GoPro is more susceptible to getting water drops on the lens, even when you have a water repellent on it, then it is fair to say so. I've got a GoPro Hero 4, the little cube one. Even on that when water starting I always take care not to stick it through the sail. Those tall thin cameras look a lot more likely to damage the sail. The software in these cameras which removes the self-stick from the shot is fantastic though. The quality and what you can do with them has improved a lot.

I got back into windsurfing a year ago after over a decade away, I use my insta360 x4 (also had x3 before) most times on the water. I’ve found it super helpful to review my footage back on where I went wrong when I was confident I did it right when on the water. I’ve found it helped me progress and correct myself really quickly, I just use my phone to review the footage and edit videos etc, not a cheap camera but I’ve been incredibly happy with mine and definitely recommend them, just make sure they’re secured well! (I learnt the hard way..)

As funny as this is, it raises the question of how the f decathlon thought that it's good enuf to sell, and what else of their stuff is also rubbish?

As a older (72) winger without success for 14 months, I’m converting two windsurfers to wing foil boards. I’m using a pre 2000 8’6” FJ and larger 9’ Fanatic. On flat water only. Figuring the plane faster than traditional chimed DW boards. We’ll see

Nico, when you are speaking German and immediately switch to "English," you have the heaviest German accent. When you start in English, it actually sounds a bit more natural to a native English speaker. As for the topic, I tend to get the high end version when possible; carbon Techno, LTD EX Mistral, BCS biax carbon Fanatic Gecko, etc. I love the lighter feel and better performance. The only time I go the low end is for my beginner boards; as my kids are abusing them!

Kleiner Erfahrungsbericht aus der Praxis: Ich hatte am Anfang der Saison Preis und Verfügbarkeit eines Magic-Ride in der Bauweise ES bei einem namenhaften deutschen Shop per Mail angefragt. Erhalten habe ich folgende Antwort: "der Magic Ride LXT 129 xxx kostet xxx.Die schwere Variante ist natürlich günstiger würde ich aber eher abraten vom surftechnischen Sachverstand." Abraten vom surftechnischen Sachverstand...??? Keine weitere Erklärung. Fazit: Völlige Irritation und Verunsicherung auf meiner Seite; Endergebnis: Habe weder das Board noch bei dem Shop gekauft. Stattdessen fragte ich mich warum einfache Bauweisen überhaupt angeboten werden, wenn Fachhändler offenkundig davon abraten Also: vielen Dank für das erhellende Video einschließlich der Eindrücke von nicht professionellen unabhängigen Anwendern.👍 Würde ich mir in Zukunft öfter wünschen !!!

Hilarious that the price difference between both constructions, I think you mentioned 600 Euros, is much more than I have invested in my favourite kit, including board, mast, sail, boom, fin, and even wetsuit included!

Maybe review the Duotone iRig inflatable sail as well. It has a lot more potential and innovations like these are exactly what the sport needs to attract more beginner windsurfers !

Sorry that you couldn’t join at me at the IFCA WORLDS in Hvide Sande this week. Hope the healing goes smoothly and quickly. In five years Turkey is gonna be the dominant windsurf country at events. They had so many young sailors at IFCA, super impressive

Exactly at Alacati I've injured my foot by cutting my toes with the windsurf fin. I know it sounds weird but I've fallen towards the back of my board when trying to waterstart and then the board somehow lifted it's tail and exposed the back of the fin which is really sharp and yeah... blood all over and then feeling down. Fortunately they have a great surgery clinic nearby and they sew me nicely. I've recovered in half a year but at that time at Alacati, just the fact that it happened in my 2nd day there and all the rest of my stay I had to sit on a chair and watch everybody speeding around, it was super frustrating. Take some homeopathic Arnica CH7 / CH9 and maybe it'll help speed up the process. Good luck healing fast!
