Hey Rocky its six thirty four here in oklahoma, I just watched you win round three!!!! I have had a few shots tonight do not know if I will be up to see you win this thing but if not congrats! you rock young man!!!! from Danny in Oklahoma!
-Hi Rocky, its 10-17=24 I just watched you win a round at the Mosier 40 k! continued good luck and I hope you win this event and the next few days as well!!!!! From your number one fan in Oklahoma, Danny Old School Orth!
Great video! Why hold 2 or 3 just to rip it to go dead on when you can dial honest and the car will run dead on? If you planned to rip 3 to go dead on how do you know to rip just 1 if the car is slow due to traction or increased wind? Thanks
Great video. Just saw my first bracket race last weekend at Galot in NC. The footage of you entering the track was super cool.
Hope all is good ... haven't seen any new videos :(( .probably takes alot to do but we enjoy em ... keep on TTF 😂

Perhaps you should have stayed in the left lane seeing as how it was a known.
@@greghaupt1818 For sure
No no, don't get distracted by Taco Casa as you're backing up from burnout. Stay focused. 😂 I would 100% start thinking about tacos right at that moment. In the car i already laugh my ass off as I'm chasing the dragster next to me, and saying stuff like "I'm gonna getcha!" or, "you're done son!". I'd totally say, Mm Tacos if i saw that sign as i back up.

Been binge watching your vids Rocky, awesome views and editing brother. Keep it comin. I worked at the Vegas Fling this year at the front of the lanes for my first time, but I work for West Coast Classic bracket race here in California and the Tucson Southwest Showdown. Grew up in Division 7 SuperComp racing all my life. Hope you can make it all the way out here someday for our races if you haven't yet. Bakersfield or Tucson 👍

Little late to this one lol but always have great videos we need some more racing day vlogs
Thanks man! Low on footage this year, but hoping to get more out. Thanks for the support
Nice video I have a question for you let’s say I think my car is going to run a 5.938 and my spot drop will kill 2 hun and a thou to 4thou are u putting a 95 or a 96 on the dial? My guess would be the 96 so your not giving up all that et thank you
On your steering wheel Which color button do you use to Takeoff at the light?
They are all red lol but it’s the red button that looks more dull (slightly pink) It’s the button on the right
I have a race tomorrow morning do you have any advice I race a jr dragster
Sorry man I got to this late. How did it go?
Hey bud, love the content. I'm a Short time follower, big time fan lol I have a few questions if you don't mind brother. 1. When racing and theres huge down time between rounds and your last round was sunny and now its fully dark, how much does night time effect your reaction times? Are you doing anything with the delay? 2. when racing against a door car(something with front end overhang) and you look over at the beams to pick a reference point on their car for judging the finish line. Does their foot or foot in a half front end overhang play in effect on how you'd gauge the finish line? Thanks! keep up the great job
1. Not an easy answer for me because I’m honestly still learning how that affects me. I know back in the day before LED’s you could see the light start to come on at night on an incandescent bulb, so people were faster back then. But I think now with LED’s most people are either the same or slightly slower at night. I would say I’m slightly slower. But I don’t like subtracting delay. I usually find myself adding a few thousandths delay as the night goes on for comfort 2. Before the race I try to look at my opponents car to see what I think will trip the finish line beam and how much overhang they have. Then I look over when we are both pre-staged to get my spot (just like against a dragster) However, you have to move your spot up to account for the amount of overhang they have. For example if I’m racing a roadster and I think it has 2 feet of overhang. Then if I look over while pre-staged and I’m just behind their back tire, then I would move the spot up a couple feet and tell myself I need to be in front of their back tire. Thanks for all your support man!

Too much drama, music sucks !
SW headers are sick. So I just need to call them up and say I need the exact same as you? Lol.

Awesome! And thanks man he works really hard on it!
Great information young man
Thank you!
What is the difference between super pro and super pro green? Or am I just over thinking it and asking a dumb question lol.
It’s just a second super pro race for everyone. Starts a couple rounds after the first race. No box has the same. It’s pro and pro blue. That’s just how this track names them
@@TheRockRacing ooooohhhh thanks! I was over thinking it haha.
Awesome video explaining some bracket racing math! 🤓 I keep saying I want to make videos like this but it’s so much harder than it looks. So thanks for taking the time and I will be sending this out to people who need to hear it! 😎💯
Yes they can be tough, probably best to just take an idea and start talking about it otherwise it could take forever lol. But thanks so much man! I do have another topic I’m thinking about doing soon so stay tuned for that!
Is it “How to beat the shot clock! 👀”? 😂
@@OvertimeRacingTV nahhhh gonna stay out of all that 😂
Dude thank you for this. You are the only person that I have found so far that is explaining this style of driving. I'm just getting into bracket racing for the past few years. 1st year no traction on my 2018 Chrysler 300 700hp. 2 year COVID heart attack and recovery and blown tranny. 3 year youngest son dies😢. This year my wife said get your butt back at the track. Go get the tranny rebuilt 😮. Well on the HP70 there is no trans brake and foot breaking even with a 2step it is very difficult to win. I'm running late this year but will have a trans brake and delay box😊. Im bumping up the HP buy 100 to 150 just to put me a little fast then most in the sportsmen class. Now I can start to learn how to race and not just drive and at 55 let's hope this old man can learn new tricks with an open mind. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around everything but will watch your videos in the hope of learning. Are there any books that can help me or explain more about the math around this? Like my car for several races was right around 11.3 to 11.4. would I dial would I dial 11.5? My RT was all over the place but should be a 100 times better with the new equipment and a lot of practice on the tree.
Yes gotta get back out there man! Sounds like your new combination will be good. Sportsman will be a great place to learn and try new things if you want to experiment. Anywhere from 20-50 on the tree will be solid. For finish line I would see how much ET your car ranges and base your dial on that. If it moves .05 then maybe dial .05 up to cover it for example, as long as you figure out a way to kill it accurately. I’m not sure of any books. This is Bracket Racing Elite has lots of written lessons but it’s a paid subscription. Be sure to let me know how it all goes man!
Great video💯💯💯
Thanks! 👊
Good job 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you!!!
Nice 🏁🏁🏁🏁

Great video. I’m looking for a camera to put on the top of my dragster what do you use?
It’s called an Insta360 ONE R 360 edition. GoPro also makes a 360 camera, it’s called a GoPro Max.
When you say don't get caught looking, do you mean at the other car?
Hey fade where you able to see my response? I had this issue with someone else who couldn’t see my reply for some reason
@@TheRockRacing Sorry Rock I did not. Was it posted here?
@@FadetoBlack1463 I guess it didn’t go through. When I said don’t get caught looking, I meant… don’t let anything the other driver is doing effect your own plan. In the race in the video, I was watching him so much that I almost didn’t get on the brakes in time. I hit them too late and had to hit them extremely hard to barely kill enough. Always execute the plan you brought into the race no matter what you see over there.
@@TheRockRacing Ahh I see. Understood. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing! Watching has helped me improve.
@@FadetoBlack1463 Thanks so much man good luck this season!
great stuff man. I almost wish you weren't telling everyone this because this is the kind of stuff that separates good from great.
I think it’s fine. If anything it might make it harder for the great racers and take them out of the race more frequently 😂 thanks man!
Thanks for sharing, such good stuff from Albuquerque landshark!!!!!!
Thank you! Think I’ve seen that car is it a shorty?
@@TheRockRacingYes This was Jeff's personal car!!!
Great video as always Rocky knowing your car never wasting a lap always sticking to your plan , keep making videos.
Yep always try to learn as much as possible from every lap. Thanks man I will!
Thanks for sharing Rock - makes good sense to me. Would you recommend that racers have several ways to kill a fixed amount of time to provide options or "outs" depending on how the race looks? For example, 0.02 - I can get off the gas at point A, I can hit the brakes at point B or a couple of womps at point C?
Hey man! Did my response show up for you? I’ve tried a couple times but I don’t see it on my end
Strange. I can't see your orginal response.
@@timeslipsim Dang lol idk what happened. I had said yes I agree with having multiple ways to kill it. At least 2. And like you said 2 different ways, 1 with gas and other with brakes would be good. Have to see how the race plays out to decide which one. If you feel good up front and the position looks favorable I would lean towards the gas. If you think you missed it and the position looks bad then maybe go with the brakes.
Perfect. Thanks Rock. Looking foward to yor next video. When does the season srat for you?
@@timeslipsim Just kind of whenever lol. Lots of races coming up on the schedule here soon. Only waiting on my headers to get back (chrome was peeling so they’re redoing it)
very very VERY impressive I have done prety well back in my day Im not racing any more nothing was this consistent then we started racing with out trans brakes The 8 inch convertor was just being developed, and no reaction times no boxs LOL that came later I had one of the first settable delay boxs with actual numbers LOL, I look forward to all your video your at the top of you game with a lot more to come.
Wow! 😮 I bet that was a fun time though. Honestly wish I could go back to see what it’s like. Thanks for your support man! Not too much longer before we get back to some racing 👍
thanks rocky I will be watching
Have you ever messed with nitrous for the finish line?
I haven’t, trying to improve without it for now but plan on using it in the future, I think it’s a great tool.
@@TheRockRacing yea me and my dad say we gonna put it on his car all the time but we never do it but I think sometime in the future their will be some nitrous on it
@@KTaylor121I say do it, but try not to break anything 😂
@@TheRockRacing that’s my dads fear 😂😂

What an awesome video. Glad to see you back btw. I used to geek out over the numbers game when I raced. Almost too much some would say. But solving the puzzle was always the fun part, if you know what I mean.
Thank you! Yea I love it it’s like chess. Constantly evolving but you can never completely solve it.
Sometimes I’m hard to follow with how my mind works 😂 But hopefully there were a few good takeaways in there!
It makes sense. Videos are awesome. Keep up the good work.
I would implement any of this in my driving. When I was consistently carrying 3-4 hundredths it was hard to drop to dead on with my hard tail car. I have been having much better luck with 1-2 hundredths
@@rjpolitowski6057Thank you!!!
@@TylerWiedI think it’s a great all around spot. And yes probably easier to be more accurate especially on the brakes
@@TheRockRacinghey rocky I was at the spring stampede and I saw you at the practice tree race so I was wondering if you could upload the runs from the stampede

Thanks man! I thought the whomps sounded a little different lol. Too bad it’s off-season time
Looks great, congrats!
Thank you! Those wheels are awesome!!!
this is what I disliked about drag racing we called it racing the variables, its hard enough to win, however this is what we have to work with, it cost me a division championship, the clocks recorded [on a 8.90 index] a 8.88 at 138 mph. in a dragster [impossible] I had the light, made the first turn out, lost the championship by two points, hard to believe but the guy that won it was the guy I lost to on that run. that's racing, thanks rocky keep the videos coming
Dang man I hate to hear that! It’s tough, we play a super precise game and I’m not sure it’ll ever be perfect. And thanks man I appreciate all your support!
I think if it were me I would wrap it instead of painting it, but it also looks good just the way it is.
I think we’re going to leave it for now. It’s cleared and looks pretty good. Most people seem to like it how it is. I got some stickers on the way
