From Lot Cleaning to Classic Car Detailing Empire
How much are most dealers paying to wash the lot these days?
Lot cleaning can range anywhere from $1.75 - $3.00 per car depending on how many cars and how often the dealership wants them done. This rate is for a simply spray down and dry off (no soap or tire shine or window cleaning)… Lot cleaning is basically to keep the dust build up off of vehicles.
What’s the lowest temp you wash in? I’m newer to the game but i just turn down exterior work. It hits 10-30 degrees a ton during our winter months
First things first…thank you for viewing my page and I appreciate the support. As for the weather…Listen to your body FIRST! If it’s says it’s too cold… ITS TOO COLD LOL… secondly if the water is freezing on the ground that’s a good sign that working on that day isn’t a good idea but if it’s not freezing on the ground and your body is up for it….HAVE AT IT! lol
@ I got no problems working in the Temps. I’m used to that in general. We try to push interior work a ton, but always open ears to hearing others out and improving methods. Just recently came across your channel, look forwarding to soaking up any knowledge you put out! God bless 🙏🏼
i see it now
are u using a generator
Yes absolutely
Yeah man. I did an Interior 28F but the wind was crazy. The water freezes with Exterior but always have a heat gun at low temp as backup. Yeup empty the water because everything freezes. Thanks for the info 🥶. I'm in Jersey
Good stuff 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Do you build your own set ups or you have a shop do it
No I build my own.
Thats why its important to fully register the business. No pay? = mechanics lien + sued for loss of usage and time. That simple. If you arent registered, take half up front deposits, if they can afford it, no detail.
@@y2krispy I wholeheartedly agree with being registered as legitimate business however some losses will just simply serve better as lessons. Learn and move on. It’ll some time cost more of your time and energy chasing somebody down for coins that don’t really amount to much at the end of the day. Learn the lesson and move on.
It is my wishes that this text finds you doing well it’s indeed Ben from shine chaser mobile detailing over leesburg fl your videos are inspirational educational and fun to watch keep up the good work and have a first class December
Thank you man and I wish the best to you and your business as well.
You show us it can be done in a car this small, this is unlike anything else on RUclips, SALUTE
I appreciate that and I’m happy that my little vehicle is encouraging others to take the mobile detailing leap even if they don’t have a truck….
Hey could you please do a tour of your detail set up on your car it looks mighty cool 🤙
Absolutely I will do that….
Congratulations brother and thanks for a great video like always
Thank you 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
For this type of pricing I'd recommend looking at I believe it's drakes detailing on RUclips who primarily does boats, most of those guys charge by the foot on boats and rvs
Thanks for checking out TheDopestDetailer💪🏽💪🏽
respect brother
Hi, i was wondering how you charge to take over their detailing department? I have a high end dealership wanting me to do the same and i’m unsure how to price it. Any info is appreciated stay blessed!
You have to figure what works for you. Ask how much was the last guy charging then add $100 -$150 dollars on to that. At this point you can negotiate from there. You have to have an absolute minimum in your head going in that you’ll take and be happy with. Don’t go in without a minimum. That’s how you get your head chopped off by.
Thought you were bringing us to the trap
Thanks for viewing
Am i the only detailer that just uses hot water to detail when its cold? The difference between hot and cold water in the winter is night and day..trust me try it!
Just be careful with the hot water on a freezing water on windshields or glass.
@@thedopestdetailer9693true if we talking about boiling hot water. Hot water i get out the house aint hot enough to do no damage by time i fill and make it to a job its only warm…trust me try it
I’m out here D, I take my hoses off too, and put them back on, before I jet out to the clients house . I don’t empty my water out, bc I can’t depend on filling up at the customers, bc of the hose being frozen . But, I normally go out and start my vehicle let it heat up….. if it’s just sitting. On the flip side , this is when I get calls from the dealers , truck companies etc. so the work is inside , praise God 🙏🏾👊🏾
Good stuff Bro💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Shit I'm keeping the keys 😮
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🗣️Noooooooo
This is a powerful testimony 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Here's a science project to try, get a cup of water and add a half ounce of alcohol(75%-90%) then put it outside to see if it freezes.
Ooooh we!!! I remember my days as a kid detailing my uncles 88 Grand Prix in the winter, we worked out of 4 buckets all hot; it was fun back then also Armor All was the ish back then 😂😂😂😂
@@sscorpionbblade 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 That Armoral statement making you and instant OG
@@thedopestdetailer9693 and you know it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Certain vehicles I find to be fun to detail, back then it was the 84 Seville, Coupe DeVille, 50's Ford trucks, 60's Chevy vehicles and 50's thru 70'sb muscle cars and 80's Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix/Nationals, Trans Am, Firebirds just to name few lol😂😂😂😂😂

@@thedopestdetailer9693I don't think people know, Armor All was the original tire shine back then 😂😂😂 shoot you can spray on tires, interior trims and leather 🤫🤫🤫🤫 😂😂😂😂😂 now who buys Armor All 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗 😂😂😂😂😂
God bless you my friend. Guess I can't complain too much, I'm located out of the PNW in WA state. I do mobile and work from home, wherever the business is.
May the The Lord cause all that you place your hand to prosper.🙏
Thank you I really appreciate that. Please if you may share this with whomever you think can benefit from it.
❤️‼️
❤️
Thank you for the tips 💯 first winter and we realized that the reel was all frozen up had to bring the backup hose with us 😅 based in MD, the winter is rough
YOU CAN DO IT!!! YOU GOT THIS!!
The intelligence you bring to the detailing game is impressive!!! Structured!!!
How do you estimate a price per year for a proposal to take over the detail department for a higher end dealership?
There’s no standard set template for pricing. You have to go in just simply knowing what your bottom line is. Negotiate down to it and take it from there.
@ Thank you, i appreciate it♥️💪 Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I no
Thank you for this Gem of a video Derrick, I would love to see more business related videos. keep up the great work🙏🏽
Hey Man I appreciate that and I will do just that. Is there anything in particular that you would like for me to discuss?
@ Yes I do have some topic points that I would love to get your insight on - 1. How you Track Expenses and Revenue for your Detailing Business 2.The Hidden Costs of Running a Detailing Business 3. How you Budget for New Equipment in your Detailing Business 4.As a leader, what are the ways you are investing in your people to get the result you want. Again, thank you for the great content!
This is gold, CYB(Cover Your Business). 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Having a min max is perfect in my opinion regardless of the job and establishing what the client expect which for some would fall in between mid to the low end of the price range while others are from mid to high end and in some case over the max which may include ppf, tint or the like (that's if you offer that). Another great video 💪🏿
I personally think guys are intimidated by the dealership reps and fold instead of pushing back.
@@thedopestdetailer9693The ones intimidated may not know their value yet and may also lack a lil bit of knowledge on how to. I've seen others on this platform tried to negotiate deals and failed due to their lack of knowledge on business sense and the dealership took advantage of them but they were on a trial based contract lasting a month since this detailer is very new to the scene. Knowledge, skills and confidence are what's needed and if that individual has the knowledge and skills, the confidence would be right there and they would have been able to negotiate a better rate instead of allowing themselves to be low-balled.
I backed off of car lots cause I had to work 16 hour shift to only be able to get $350 out of them at most
Yeah I can see how you’d wanna walk away from that. It’ll only make good dollars when you make it make sense 💪🏽
you could had done one job with paint polishing to make that type of money. it has to make sense to even work 16hr shift for just $350
@josequiroz4605 I was in my teens and thought it was better than my previous job paint where I had to work 60 hours to make 500.
Very informative bro.. we appreciate the help!

Hey brother I’d actually like to know more about how you set it up with them and getting employees etc. there’s a local dealership I’ve been in contact with for years but have been hesitant bc I’m solo and know I wouldn’t be able to do it alone. Any advice is greatly appreciated

That’s good stuff D, gotta stay faithful to the game. Doors will open……LMk if you could use my help. Question: Do you change up the products they used to what you use ?
Thanks for all the info Derick. We have everything you mentioned that a company needs. We are a full fledge detailing company based in KOP. We used to service dealerships (Wilkie Lexus, Hertz rental Car, etc.). We know that dealership work can take a lot of your time away from your regular customers. I'm thinking about going back into dealership work for the basis of job creation and consistent workflow. My question to you is, what is a good profit margin for you that make sense for you and the dealership. When you negotiate the numbers, what is a good percentage that works for you and can cover all of your expenses?
It all depends on what your split is with your employees….I don’t have to tell you that piece work pay is the best way to go cause other wise you’d get hammered trying to do the hourly thing. I’d suggest anything from 60/40 to 70/30 split (higher percentage coming to you) then see what type of commitment you can get from your dealership on the amount of vehicles you’ll get per day. Once you get these 2 things in place then you can start to cut your slice from what’s expected and what’s left.
@@thedopestdetailer9693 That is exactly what I was looking for. The hourly rate is a terrible return on investment and incentivize the employees to do less work. I might do quarterly or yearly bonuses for my top producers along with the service splits. We average a high volume of details on a weekly basis and employee payout was something that puts us in a bind profit wise. Dealership work is something I will do probably the same thing as you. Create a branch of our company just for that kind of work. Should I split the overall contract 70/30 or just the work performed?
Great advice , wishing you all the best.
I appreciate you Bro💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I’m paying attention keep posting big Dog
I appreciate you💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Yes dealership do have the pro's and con's. but there's steady work available all year round. Congrats and best wishes!! 👍
