WSOR, UP, CPKC & CN: Odds & Ends Around Milwaukee

It goes without saying that railfanning is a hobby of hobby of timing and planning, but sometimes, good catches fall right into one's lap! Perhaps it was an encounter by chance, or the word that something worth catching was on its way reached you in the perfect time and place! Usually, these catches are far and few between, but this summer and into fall, I had the good fortune to have quite a f...
East Troy Electric Railfan Day: Sparks In The Rain
Просмотров 26914 дней назад
For it's time, the Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company was one of the most profound urban transit systems in the United States! With its first streetcar operated on April 3rd 1890, so began a system and legacy that would soon stretch throughout the entirety of Southeastern Wisconsin, and by the 1920s the MER&LC was at it's peak, with lines stretching to Watertown, Sheboygan, Racine, Ke...
BNSF 771: Fakebonnet Survivor
Просмотров 11814 дней назад
With the merger of the Burlington Northern and Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroads in 1995, the newly formed "BNSF" had no corporate identity. To be specific, they had no paint scheme or company logo. While effort was being put towards deciding on an image for the newly combined companies, something did need to be done to put forward that both were now operating as one. The result was somethin...
Union Pacific 4014: Crossing The Cornfields

For the first time since her initial tours in 2019, Union Pacific 4014 returned to the Midwest with the Heartland Of America Tour, scheduled to cover nine states in eight weeks. Beginning September 2nd, the 4-8-8-4 reentered Chicago & North Western territory at Fremont Nebraska, overnighting at Council Bluffs, Boone, and Cedar Rapids on it's way to the Global III Intermodal Facility outside of ...
UP 1983: Black Diamonds & Tiger Stripes

20 years ago (Already?!? It barely feels like it!!!), Union Pacific unveiled their new fleet of "Heritage Units", six EMD SD70ACes wearing paint schemes to commemorate the railroad's that have been folded into "Big Yellow" over the decades. Since then, the fleet has been expanded to include a couple more special locomotives, and they still remain a popular draw for railfans, with UP making sure...
A Farewell To The Roadrailers
Просмотров 51Месяц назад
This past weekend, Norfolk Southern signed "Fin" on the last Roadrailer Intermodal Service in the U.S., between Detroit and Kansas City. While I was not able to make the trek to catch the last runs of this unique operation, it did call me back to the joint Roadrailer runs that used to pass through Milwaukee! Up until the end of 2015, NS and Union Pacific partnered to bring the infamous Triple C...
IC 6254 & 6256: Displaced From The Iron Range
Просмотров 112Месяц назад
With Canadian National having finally worked out the kinks in their modified GEVOs they had planned to send to the Iron Range, the first few of the model were sent there to begin service starting in July. Even before the arrival of their sisters, the first few "displacements" from the Northland have already made their way south; Illinois Central SD40-2s 6254 and 6256. Originally a trio with a D...
WSOR & CN: A "North Dupy" Sunset
Просмотров 74Месяц назад
On a beautiful summer evening as the sun reaches the low point of it's sky, the steel rails of Canadian National's Waukesha Subdivision play host to two northbounds, hustling across Wyer Road at North Duplainville WI and on into Sussex. First up, Wisconsin & Southern's nightly "T-003", the cross-division haul from Janesville to Horicon. In spite of a rather short train, a "three-pack" of the ex...
The Union Pacific Weed Sprayer
Просмотров 1252 месяца назад
Maintenance and Inspections are a crucial part of keeping railroads in top operating condition. While the basic principals and necessities to this are the same across all railroads, each one seems to differ about how they go about it. One of these tasks is weed spraying; coating the Right Of Way (R.O.W) with weed killer and other pesticides to prevent the spread of vegetation onto the rails. Th...

Even on a planned trip or expedition, it is seemingly inevitable that a few kinks are going to be thrown in along the line. In the case of a railfan, these can be both a blessing and a curse. A little something extra and great to shoot, but a distraction from the primary goal. For myself and those who ventured on our "Empress Expedition" to follow CP 2816 across the Upper Midwest, these are tho...

Survivors, Retirees and “Rebuilds”: WSOR, CN & Amtrak
A thing long expected takes the form of the unexpected when at last it comes.
So many details ❤
Like1️⃣🚂🔥🔝👍🏼Nice catch!!
Da brividi .. troppo bravo👍👍👍
Zach, this is fantastic! You captured the beauty of this UP 4014 and the countryside!!! You are skilled a editor and musician!!!! Thank you!!!!!👏😊🚂❤️
Great stuff. One of the better videos I've seen so far from 4014's tour!
Great Song!
Cool. It’s spelled Dravosburg by the way.
Happy 4th of July.
Agreed! Great footage that took a great deal of effort. Thanks for doing this!
Epic footage! So many great shots....hope you don't mind but there were some frames on the plains that I think would make great reference for a CPKC 2816 train painting...thanks, GL.
By all means, go right on ahead! I just ask that you give credit to the source material when you finish it! 🤘
@@ZJKFilms that sequence starting around 1:12 was David Lean, Lawrence of Arabia like. Well done. I got goosebumps...lol!
Esto suena demasiado bien..saludos desde Peru..👍
You watch, in five or so years Rapido will come out with this plus realistic steam. This is one brutiful engine.🦡
Standing next to a steam loco makes ya think the things alive and breathing. Awesome!!! 🚂💯
Love the trains!
The hype is real right now
Good to see the Empress 😎
I just wanna know how steep that incline is (looks like it's from the steel mill to the mainline or switching tracks above). 4,500 HP is definitely enough to do the trick. Now there's another, 6,000 HP total. Love those SW-1500's in action. Perfectly MUed together. That's so cool that they can work independently cutting cars, and together as a team to increase the HP needed for each chore. And what railroader wouldn't want a trademark caboose! Cheers from eastern TN
It’s referred to as the low grade bridge, and is 3%.
The poor people of Wisconsin are doomed when Buc-ee's opens their new store there. You will learn to spend carefully there. I only go in once every few months to avoid temptation. And it isn't 'too die for' but it is VERY good gas station food.
Awwwwesome!!
I know this was a while ago but now that this locomotive is part of the Silvis fleet, The crew that ran this line with 6988 are going to need a new steam locomotive for excursion running because the diesels do look good but they don’t beat a steam locomotive.
It is a full part of the Silvis Fleet now, but they didn’t loose the engine. Once she get’s her full rebuild, she’ll return to IAIS excursions.
Отличный фильм. Спасибо автору💯💥👌👍
Twas a fun night with the ole marvel and new blood that are now old and dear friends
Who's that handsome bunch of guys cleaning that engine?
No idea! But they did a damn good job, didn’t they?! 😉
@@ZJKFilms That's the future of that engine I tell ya what
@@BalticFilms144 as it can be dreamed, it can be done!
Fun workin with ya Friday night lol
Likewise! Hope to see you out and about again my friend! ✌️
Boston Rocks!!!
This line is so reminiscent of the Chicago Aurora and Elgin freight operations. They lasted until June 9 1959. The only major difference is that the Chicago Aurora and Elgin was primarily a third rail line. It did use trolley wire on most freight sidings and near the ends of their lines like at National Street in Elgin it switched to trolley operation and Rt. 25 Hankes Avenue on the Aurora Branch.
Why’s the flagger keep batting the yellow at them
Basically, he’s telling Ty Majeski, the leader, “PICK A DAMN LANE!!!” or “QUIT BLOCKING SO MUCH!!!”. But, under 20 laps to go on a quarter mile short track, nobody is paying attention to that poor flagman, lol.
In 42:18 at the shed place did you see me there I think I saw standing by you
I don’t think I did, but we probably ran into each other a few times and never realized it, with how many people were out.
Amazing work my friend
Yuengling!!!! Yes!!! I regularly drive the 14 miles to my nearest Buc-ee's for the pulled pork and brisket. Buc-ee's is a destination....
So is it going under its 1472 day inspection or did they just stop doing steam all together I’m confused
1472 is currently ongoing at Silvis. At least to my knowledge.
Wow!!!
That was amazing!!!!
You know this reminds me of thomas and friends the smoke deflectors on both sides from the boiler the smoke deflectors looks like yong boi's smoke deflector
I'm sure Buc-ee's will be happy to see thrifty spenders you guys again. LOL!! I think they have announced expansion to WI too. Who know when that will be?
Baldwin Locomotive works Philadelphia, Pennsylvania November, 1949 wow😊,16:09
i just really miss the Days of Steam altogether on The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad including Mountain Thunder #734 That's how all the Railroads first started around the world 6:07🚂🚃🚃🚃
LOVE the dog and your really good too😊
Great job, you covered all the parts!
Awesome job!! though, doggo seems unimpressed
Wow!!!)
Fantastic performance....love the Allmans Brothers Band. 👏👏👏👏
Great job my friend! Nice playing and sound! Keep the covers coming!!🎸
Just noticed, whats up with the exposed ash pan? Most have doors to keep the burning embers that fall trough contained I thought. Or is ot just due ot bigger gapes in the grates to accommodate the low quality coal it was designed to burn?
Wait so she went to Silvas?
Yes, and she is still there, waiting for her rebuild.
Very nice video! The train with 6023 is T4, not T3.
Thanks for the catch! So used to catching the northbound instead of the southbound these days, lol
Lnbhj
nice, man
Great video. I subscribed to your channel as well!
Really nice.
Amazing chase!
