I used regular bamboo fleece that I bought at Wazoodle. Nature's fabric and Kinderel Organic Fabrics also sells bamboo fleece. For the sewn in absorbency, I used 3D bamboo ZORB, though you could just use several layers of bamboo fleece instead.

I also highly recommend looking into the work of Brené Brown when it comes to the topic of shame.

Thank you for sharing your struggles in this. There's a box that culture/society has deemed "acceptable" and if you're outside that box (whether by choice or nature) then something is wrong with you. As individuals, many people will become accepting to some degree if they hear someone's story, but that still requires a willingness to challenge their ingrained sense of "right" and "wrong," but that is hard especially if the predetermined "wrong" is something by choice. I've actually had a couple of people tell me that their involvement in the abdl/ageplay was recommended to them by therapists as a way to manage high stress professions. But thank you again for being willing to tell your story, having these difficult conversations is the only way to chip away at the shame and the stigmal

I do believe in living authentically and respectfully so when opportunities like this arise, it's nice to normalize things more and make it less a secret. The stress management thing is true, but it's not super common as it requires therapists which are well versed outside the textbook and it doesn't work for everyone. I know for myself it can be a great tool for helping depression. The best broad categorization I've heard is that it's a venn diagram of erotic/kink, sensory, or therapeutic (and medical being orthogonal since it can apply to anyone). Where you fall in that diagram can change for any multitude of reasons.

Definitely! Many of the people I've talked with have found that their loved ones are supportive once they open up about it, but that's not always the case. The stigma itself is so big, it's like it's own entity and that's what's so hard to overcome :(

It's certainly a whole different routine and the laundry is no joke! When I cloth diapered my kids, staying on top of washing was my biggest challenge to staying consistent.

@littleonioncloth9345 That can be a challenge. My mother used cloth diapers on me until I was age 2 yrs old and then cloth training pants until I was age 5 yrs. old.

I think that ABDL and cloth incontinence products are 2 different sides of the same coin. For people exploring the use of cloth incontinence products to manage incontinence, often their first exposure to ABDL is not the incredible supportive community or really amazing people, but random comments and shops that sell obvious ABDL items. But how do you make sense of something that is surrounded by so much stigma? Maybe that's the real question at the heart of this? I don't know, I'm still figuring it out too, lol! @@littleonioncloth9345 You are correct that functionally it's the exact same product for both markets and it's mostly just aesthetics that cater to one group over another. The stigma and shame attached to incontinence and diapers is rough in its own right. Ageplayers that choose to wear diapers have an additional level of stigma and shame to live with. I'm in one of the larger concentrated areas of the world for that market and I don't think I've run across a single person that at some point hasn't (but likely even still) struggle with the societal shame associated with who they are. It's been part of me since I was a kid before the days of the internet even and it's hard. There's no one reason anyone is in that community and it encompasses people from every walk of life and background. There is a higher than average statistical irregularity for people in the community with mental health problems, trauma, and neurodivergency is non-negligible anecdotally as I've observed over 3 decades, but that does not mean any kind of causation. There's very little formal research or representation because most folks don't want to be publicly identified with being part of the ABDL/Ageplay community because it can ruin your life if exposed. It's hard to belong to a group in which large groups of people wrongly believe are dangerous to the public and should be institutionalized or jailed. Like any group of people, you're going to have some that can't be a respectable adult for a myriad of reasons and this is what gets exemplified to public audiences which then reinforces that internalized shame to anyone who identifies with that group as you pointed out. There is no way to discipline peers that cross lines of consent or appropriateness unfortunately, so the best that can be offered is the reminder that it's not all that way even if a minority make it seem so. Ageplay/ABDL make up a large number of people and has existed long before even me and will long outlive me. Obvious ABDL items and shops aren't inherently bad but if you're new it can be complicated to both want something and hate it at the same time. Making sense of it all largely boils down to self-acceptance as I see it. Glad to converse and help understanding how I can.

You're right in that most people don't tell me whether or not they are part of the abdl community because they don't need to and it wouldn't change anything. But I don't think someone is terrible for misreading the room and placing an inappropriate comment that is neither helpful nor relevant to the info at hand. I just want to call out the fact that it's not okay and that someone should consider whether the platform is an appropriate place for that comment. I have spoken hundreds of people over the past 10 years and many of them new to the cloth scene and feeling vulnerable about the whole issue of incontinence. They just want answers and inappropriate comments can make some feel intimidated. There's enough embarrassment/shame/stigma already in this space. Now, the question might be, why on earth I'd feel the need to make such a statement in the first place? But there are many things to be learned from this and I'll hash them out in a follow up video.

Is that referring to this comment I made, because if you believe that saying you are not doing the thing, that you are doing in the same sentence, somehow makes it that you didn't say the thing, then you are delusional, and that is the info at hand. For full incontinence, your best bet would be to pair any style of absorbent diaper with a separate cover. Economically, prefolds are cheapest, but if you're sewing your own, you have a lot more options and can still stay in a budget. I've sewn with pvc and vinyl. PVC can be very noisy and stiff. Honestly, I recommend finding a good quality PEVA shower curtain and using that to sew a plastic diaper cover.

PUL for the outer, athletic mesh for the inner layer.

Great questions! Those squares actually appear during the washing process. Most commercial prefolds are made from diaper twill (not to be confused with regular twill) or swaddle cloth, which is available in either a double or single option. As the fabric shrinks, those "squares" appear in fabric. In the video, the prefold she was using must have been one she's used and washed a bunch of times. When you purchase prefolds new, they don't have the "squares" until they've been washed a few times.

Since flooding means that too much moisture is coming too fast to a single area, your best bet would be to add more absorbency to that particular area. Since fabric needs to absorb quickly, cotton or a 3D zorb fabric would work best.

If you're a beginner sewer, all you need is a basic sewing machine. You can easily get one for under $150. If you're a more experienced sewer and hope to sew a variety of things with your machine, I would recommend paying a little more for a heavy duty machine. Heavy duty machines can handle more layers of fabric and don't slide towards you when you a pulling elastic really tight, lol. Though a non-slip mat may help with the sliding.

@@hts6116 just a plastic/teflon foot. They're cheap and keep the plastic fabric (or laminate PUL) from sticking as it slides through the machine.

No, I don't need to wear incontinence items. I started out making toddler pull ups, which became adult incontinence items and now I make digital sewing patterns for those items. Sewing your own is so much cheaper and customizable and everyone deserves to be able to find a product that fits their lifestyle and needs!
