Carole & Wayne retired & moved to the Algarve region of Portugal in 2022 from the US. In mid 2022, we purchased an apartment in Vila Real de Santo Antonio near the coast of Spain which is our primary & only residence.
Portugal is our new, forever homeland. A beautiful land rich with a seafaring, exploration heritage, magnificent landscapes, cities, beaches, amazing foods, & wonderful, warm people with strong ethics and relaxed way of enjoying life fully.
We shall continue making videos as we immerse ourselves in all things Portugal. We will also use our convenient location to visit more of Portugal & cities in Europe & nearby lands.
Our videos focus on details of everyday things & life in locations we visit. We record clips that show people, places and things that we encounter. Our format typically tracks us walking along streets and byways while we comment on things that we find interesting and informative.

Munich Germany June 2024
In early June 2024, we visited Munich, Germany and wound up naming our excursion "Munchin In Munchen". We spent most of our time visiting food stores, shops, markets, street food stands and restaurants. With a few exceptions, we experienced great, classic Bavarian foods, croissants and pastries, wursts and other Bavarian delights. And the Beers! We also found staples that are hard to find at home in Portugal. Indeed, we found poppy seeds. horseradish, oregano seeds to plant in our herb box.
We enjoyed our few days of touring, dining and fun. We did a Hop-on Hop-off bus tour, dined in some classic restaurants, and lucked-out with the weather which worked in our favor most days.

Did you move to Portugal using the D7 Visa?, if so, was it difficult?
Yes in early 2022. Our residency was approved in July 2022. It was moderately challenging but not overly so. Recent changes in policy are making it more difficult and there are backlogs in processing applications.

I dream of places where there is this quiet life, with quality. How are medial services there? Are there hospitals if you need anything? Thank you for shearing!
There are hospitals and clinics with good doctors that do not over-prescribe. Once you are an official resident, you can apply for public healthcare which is free. You can acquire private healthcare also which costs a fraction of that in other countries
Is tram 7 easily accessible from Orly airport?
We found it easily accessible outside the Orly 4 terminal building. Look for T7 sign in a corner of the terminal and take stairway to ground level. Ticket machines and Tram platform are about 30 meters away. Have a good visit!

There are direct buses from Vienna airport to Budapest every 30 minutes costs around 20 Euros riding time is less than 3 hours. You lost money and time for taxi and train.

It was a little awkward. We wound up purchasing the unit one floor below. Same layout but with a large, covered terrace. The unit shown in the video just went back on the market last week.

Finally they're putting electric traction on all the Algarve line, which should've been done 30 years ago... so we'll can travel between Lisbon and Vila Real de Santo António/Lagos faster and without train change!
I’m looking for a place to retire in Pt and considering VRSA. Public transportation is a huge concern for me. I don’t bike. What is the transportation system for getting around in town and other places? Great video. Very informative. I’m so glad you talk about the area. Thanks❤😊
There is a tram/Trolley that runs from July to Sept that has 6 stops/pickup point that goes to the beach. Taxis are abundant for local trips and you can schedule in advance to go outside of VRSA. Walking and biking are easy due to flat terrain. A ferry goes to Ayamonte Spain frequently. That is it for public transport in VRSA but the town and the people are wonderful. You can take a local (Regional) train to Faro and then take a taxi to Faro airport. You can also utilize selected transport services to take you directly to Faro train station or Faro airport directly fo rbetween 50 and 65 Euros. From Faro train station, and you can connect with Express tarins to Lisbon, Porto & Northern Portugal. Hope this helps.
There are also buses that regularly go to Portugal and Spain locations.
We had 4 nights in VRSA in April, visited all the places you have shown today. Enjoyed our stay very much, had beautiful weather though very hot. Travelled on to Alcoutum and Mertola which were lovily too. Clare New Zealand.
