How Jack Daniels DESTROYED Coy Hills Legacy.......
Hey man this AWESOME keep up the good work this looks like a lot of fun where was this?
Hey man. We chatted a bit back (I'm just north of Seattle). I'd love to pickup a Stagg (jr but I certainly wouldn't turn down a George T for the right price) but down here rhey are all $250+. Can you give me some recommendation(s) beyond the 5 corridor where I can get one closer to MSRP?
It's all about getting off the beaten path. Find places in small cities and rural.....
Never tried anything decent/special from Willett, but i did find a old forester sp warehouse k floor 8 @134.4 proof. Not close in age obvi, but close in proof. And I found a back up jd sbbp heroes selection rye @139.0 proof 9yrs. The only Willetts I see around me are basically full secondary and lower proof at total wines, so like 700 bones on a good day. Haha Thanks for sharing brotha! I bet it's amazing along with the other you've got!
Yeah, i've seen them super overpriced at Total wine also kind of blew my mind when i saw the price tag....
Love those WFE
@@matthewdaly7423 They so good!!!
Coho are fun to catch and good to eat. They look cool when get all red and colored up👍
@@BC-ue3ku They certainly are!! Still really nice #'s in some systems. Unlike king and steelhead
I think I could down a whole RR15 within the hour and feel less nauseous than I do from your video's camera work... But considering your take, the only ones doing it right are JD, whereas you don't consider pricing and release strategies regarding the other brands.
For me price is almost irrelevant. I want high age stated quality whiskey. FULL STOP
@ ok. So you’re not a representative of even the average third quartile consumer. Moreover, if price is irrelevant, then it is not within reason to do a differential critic of goods that are inherently limited by cost functions. Make that make sense dude… like why even make a public commentary on it, unless you just don’t care to grow or maintain an audience. And full stop on age statement…? You sound like you came in with the bourbon boom. There are many faculties that come together to make good whiskey. Age statement is not the majority actualizer of those, albeit a large one, but it does not take even half of the pie.
@ I know lots of drinkers "many who follow this channel" Who prefer to drink higher quality older stuff. Who like me say they'd rather sip on something quality, nurse it for a month then drink 4 okayish bottles. The market is inviably going this way as most who drink also horde bottles. Once your bottle total gets to a certain level you be nature become more picky. Multiplies this by many people you get the picture. Does whiskey get better or worse with age? I'm well aware age isn't the end all be all. However it is in face HUGE if it wasn't then GTS would be 2 years old. Benchmark and GTS are the same juice but with 12ish years difference in age. The difference is GIGANTIC. Age is REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT. If it wasn't every bourbon would be 2 years. Furthermore my channel is growing exponentially......... So.... Yeah.....
LOVE B AND C. Definitely Differences In The Two. I love them both. D IS PHENOMENAL TOO!!!!!!! I have an extra D and I am open to offers for it.
@@FliesGoodbyes A lot of people saying D is king.....
It Really Is Phenomenal.
D Is Great Too!!!!!
I’m 1000% with you on rather paying extra for one super great bottle than getting a bunch of average bottles
Wow this is epic PNW fishing. I mean so much action. I've caught all these species but not in 1 day in 1 river. Thats like the ultimate day right there
@@freesteez3 Was a blast!
You don’t think every producer would ship massive amounts of aged whiskey if they could? They simply don’t have the reserves to ship much more than they are. Thanks for the video Captain Obvious.
You can make this point without being a hater but maybe that"s the only way you get your rocks off in life
This place is fun in October. Soft beads/eggs/twitch jigs/dick nites all work well. It's a bit of a drive for us folks down south but worth it when the run is in. CnR cherry picking for a brighter fish.
What river is this ?

I feel like you're missing out some of the very good finished whiskey out there. Age is not 100% the answer, but it certainly helps. Trying different processes also is interesting, like BT's experimental line.
@@BentleyPascoe I agree age isn't everything However whiskey rarely gets worst sitting longer....
Fishing makes people happy
Wa coastal?
@@Le_Fish29 Yes sir
Man.. you absolutely slay and now i'm sold that I need to try and get the kids off the boat and onto some banks. How would you suggest finding spots to try that aren't elbow to elbow. Onx or just estimate where they should be in open fisheries and drive around? Also, what type/size of hook do you suggest? After the bite turns off from eggs do you suggest jigs or? Thanks!
@@BennettBuilt-yu2gw Yes jigs after eggs Hatchery reports are key 🗝️. Timing is #1 Closer to hatchery you get the more advantage you have from bank. Furthermore from hatchery the advantage goes to boat.
@ thank you for pointing out the reports! Haha. I just did this for the first time trying to figure out the baker lake run and when to get a camping spot for a few days. Tight lines!
@BennettBuilt-yu2gw Awesome 😎 You're going to have a blast!
@@Harambesfishing Thanks it was!
It takes really deep pockets to age something 12, 15, 20 years old. How many people can afford to wait that long for return of investment. Most people don't understand that and get bent out of shape when they see a 15-year-old selling for over $100.00 a bottle.
@@petebigner151 I think consumers realize they are going to pay big for older stuff. RR15 flew off the shelves at around 300$ I think people respect quality And yes. It definitely takes some long term investment strategy to age your stuff for over a decade.....
Any interest in trying the Smokeye Hill that everyone's talking about? Five-to-six year barrel proof MGP.
I just tried it last night ironically....
Meanwhile benchmark Full Proof is young, cheap, and still my favorite budget barrel proof option. Such an enjoyable blast of sweet bourbon flavor. But yea, the bourbon market needs an enema for sure.
@@Craig-m7x 😂😂👌 I love it! Idk if I've ever had Benchmark before.... Some of the lower tier BT products are really reasonably priced and offer great value.
@@BourbonForageFishing, I'd be curious to hear your opinion of Benchmark Full Proof. Think it's 4 year and 125 proof.
Agreed! There is no replacement for time aged in the barrel. You can argue barrel quality, warehouse location, distillate, etc. The age is the lynchpin of all of it! In order to return to proper quality in bourbon, it will take time. That's what makes these high age statement products desirable! They are significant investments for the producers (both time and taxes paid on barrels sitting/warehouse space that could otherwise be used for aging younger cheaper bourbon!).
Absolutely. Government def needs to reduce regs and or taxes in order to allow and incentivize longer aged products.
MGP is the best😝
@@matthewdaly7423 😂😂😂
I’ll be ready for Jack 21 and I’d bet you’re correct on the older juice theory as the young stuff isn’t anything but that.
Hell yeah! 10 year plus barrel strength MGP bourbon is a gift from the sweet baby Jesus!
What do you mean by “barrel spice”?
@@johnw5736 It can act similar to the alcohol burn but isn't from the proof necessarily. So it's the kind of burn or tingle you get from strong spices for example like ginger, Chile, pepper, Stuff like that.
@@BourbonForageFishing interesting. I’ve never heard of that description for a ‘flavor’ in bourbon before. As I think about the many, many different whiskies I’ve tasted, that doesn’t come to mind in any. I’ll have to look out for it. I have a B12 I am considering offering to trade for a B13, and if I do that I’ll look for barrel spice as I try it.
Very nice

I feel like Buffalo trace brands will remain sold out for years into their double production. Maybe not true for the entirety of the sazerac brands though. The other heavy hitters that chose raising msrp’s with little new investment/ expansion may survive just fine but who knows
