    An absolutely useless system. Installed throughout the entire house 2 years ago, 6 radiators, extra thermostat controler, and signal extenders. This system is very inaccurate in result you have too cold or too hot house, resulting in a waste of money on extra heating costs in addition to the system itself. It's worth mentioning that it was installed by a certified plumber. The batteries run out very quickly; you'll need to replace them 3-4 times a year. The app is glitchy all the time. I deeply regret purchasing it; it's a waste of money and time. Now I have a completely useless system that I HAVE TO REMOVE and RETURN BACK TO THE OLD FASHIONED THERMOSTAT. I'VE LOST THOUSANDS OF POUNDS.

    I've just set this system up at home and it's amazing, but there are a few very important things to be aware of: 1. The maximum number of heating zones is 16. You can assign multiple devices to one zone though, for example three radiators in one room, or group two rooms together into one logical zone if necessary. 2. The Hub uses its own RF to connect to devices directly, which can be a problem if your boiler is tucked out of the way in a corner of your house. Our house has lots of external walls and our wi-fi is a wired in mesh network to cope, but this is not used by Wiser, other than once to connect the Hub to the network. Range extenders for the Hub's RF network are sold (a feature of the "Smart Plugs") , but they have a maximum number of 6 devices each, and when you switch one on it'll grab all the devices it can find, not necessarily the ones out of range! I spent two hours on the phone to support, to no avail. I did later manage to set it up on my own. to It's pretty tricky to force it to include the out of range devices in its list of 6 - the only way I found was to delete enough in-range devices that it had to include the out of range ones in its list of six, then add the deleted devices back in and they'll connect to the Hub, because the range extenders are full. We have two range extenders and this was a frustrating and lengthy process. If this could be fixed I'd give Wiser 10/10. Once it's installed though, it's done, so it's 10.10 when in use.

    Hi there I have a question about Wiser Radiator Thermostats. The ones I have (not fitted yet) have the little chrome locking collar already attached to the thermostat., which seems to differ with some of the Wiser radiator thermostats I've seen on RUclips channels. Is this an older type of Wiser Thermostat and what type of adapters do I need to allow me to fit them properly? Thanks

    Wiser is a smart system. It took a while to configure, getting the hub to talk to the router (with the added difficulty of inserting a Eero into the network), but we got there in the end. It would be nice to have the app work in landscape mode on a tablet; note that a disabled user can't easily rotate a tablet. Also, a PC version would be a bonus. I tried for about 3 hours today to complete the setup of a new Wiser 3 system. The connection is first made to the HUB component as you show in video. But when returning to my WiFi connection for internet service to phone it all goes pearshaped. I updated HUB firmware to 4.22.4 but no solution. After each failed attempt I noticed that the device SSID name "Wiser88_xxxxxC" changes to a different SSID - the number 88 to something 77, 66, 55 for example. This looks wrong to me. Why does the SSID change after every "failed to connect"? Where do I get help or do I have to return the complete system?

    The Wiser System for a large house is really good. The app is also great. The downside is that some of the Smart TRV's can be problematical. We have 23 of them and in only a short period of time issues have arisen. The valves are not shutting off and the radiators are fully on way above the required heat. Sometimes this can easily be fixed with recalibrating the TRV. Other times this does not work. Have found by replacing the batteries that were only 2 months old this fixed the problem. Tested the old batteries and they appeared to be good. You need to continue monitoring the app to spot what TRV's are not working properly especially in rooms not often used. Have only had the Wiser System for 2 months but if the problems continue I would be reluctant to recommend. This is a shame as when it works it is a brilliant system for larger houses.

      You can add up to 16 room thermostats on your kit one but if you want individual room control you will need to use them with Wiser Radiator Thermostats to control your heating in each room. You will only need to change your hub type if you were making wiring / plumbing changes to your system.

    I installed my drayton wiser conventional kit 2, with smart thermostats in all rooms (5 in total, including the bathroom) on the 3/12/2023. I have several problems 1. I have set different room temperatures as required and at different start and end times. 2. All heating kicks in and starts warming up all rooms as soon as the earliest time set kicks in even though they have different start and finish times. I work shifts, so I don't need my room heated as and when is not in use. 3. When I chose to boost 1 room as needed, all other rooms heating kicks in even though they have different start times and temperature times. 4. Even if I reduce the temperatures to between 10 and 12 degrees to stop rooms from warming up as they're not required, they heat and warm up anyway. These problems do not help with the idea of the drayton smart heating efficiency of the heating system ideas. Eg. I needed to boost only my bedroom at night after work, but the whole heating system kicked in while other people were sleeping, which is not required. These problems have rather caused my bills to increase instead of decreasing for efficiency and cost. Please, I would appreciate it if you could help rectify all these inefficiency problems. Now, I can't boost a single room without all other heating kicking.

      Hi Drummond. Yes, and using your TRVs in this way means you'll only be heating rooms when you actually need them

  • @Boburto

    I find that heat rises and sometimes my upstairs radiators don’t come on. It would be nice to have the software automatically boost “upstairs” even if the rooms are at temperature. Especially in comfort mode where the heating turns on before the set point, can it start upstairs first? Or at least both together. I find the bedrooms feel colder when the radiator is off, even when they are at set temperature. Plus uncontrolled radiator in the en-suite doesn’t turn on because no upstairs radiator is on.

    I’ve read online that this Wiser Heat switch, combined with a smart stat and the floor temp accessory could also be used to control a single hydronic UFH zone - is that true?

    • @johncooper5195
      @johncooper5195 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, I have one of these heat switches controlling my hydronic underfloor heating. I created an additional zone and this heat switch activates zone valve and the valve feedback is used to operate UFH recirculation pump and give a switch live to boiler, this has been working fine. I am about to install the remote floor sensor and fit as per described in this video and then use floor sensor upper and lower setpoints which should turn on and off relay within heat switch deactivating heat source as long as the room stat is still calling for heat. Perhaps setting the room stat slightly higher than the room setpoint you want, then the heatswitch will control on actual floor temperature until exceeded by upper floor limit setpoint or roomstat and then cut back in once slab has cooled off enough to hit lower temp setpoint or room stats calls for heat which then reactivates the heat source. Well thats what I'm hoping. Not much info around to guide us all in the way these upper and lower limits will actually work. We might get away just using the upper limit setpoint and use a default hysteresis, again unsure what this is. Come on Wiser give us more info. Off now to do some trials with the probe and see what happens !!

    • @draytonhome
      @draytonhome 8 месяцев назад

      The Electrical Heat Switch cycle rate is optiomised for direct electrical heating loads and is lively to be too fast to control a wet underfloor heating zone efficiently.

    Do all the radiators in a heating zone have to have Wiser controlled TRVs? If not how does the heating in those rooms without Wiser TRVs affected?

    • @CMDRSloma
      @CMDRSloma 9 месяцев назад

      Those without TRVs are heated when the main thermostat switches the boiler's heating system, i.e. when one of the other TRVs triggers heating.

    • @user-cw9ym7fv8l
      @user-cw9ym7fv8l 9 месяцев назад

      @@CMDRSloma That's what I suspected. Effectively the radiators without Wiser TRVs will heat up whenever one of the Wiser TRVs make a request, not an efficient way of running the system.

    • @Boburto
      @Boburto 9 месяцев назад

      @@user-cw9ym7fv8lI initially had normal TRV’s on all my rads before I started upgrading. So each radiator already had some temperature control. But if you just have standard valves then those radiators will come on just as before, so no more efficient or less efficient than before.

    • @user-cw9ym7fv8l
      @user-cw9ym7fv8l 9 месяцев назад

      @@Boburto Not quite. With just a single thermostat in the home, the heating will come on or off based on that room. However, by adding a radiator thermostat, the heating will come on when either the room thermostat or the radiator thermostat demands and all the rooms will heat up, even if the room thermostat is exceeded. Worse, if the room thermostat and the radiator thermostat are in the same room, the room will heat up to the temperature of the radiator thermostat regardless of what the room thermostat is set to.

    I have a Wiser system with five separate zones. It makes sense not to heat a spare room that's hardly used, but I've started to wonder if I actually have too many zones and I'm making my heating less efficient. With these five zones my boiler is often running just to heat one radiator with a small surface area when that hot water could be going through several radiators with a larger surface area and better transferring the heat into the thermal mass of my home. I feel like I'm getting less energy out of my boiler per minute that it runs than I could be. Does Drayton have any advice on the topic of perhaps over-zoning my heating?

    • @StorageTechie

      I have the same query. Is it better to heat a few rooms, as most boilers can modulate down to about 5kw,but that's way to much for a single room

    • @ianbudniak2923
      @ianbudniak2923 9 месяцев назад

      I think from experimentation that it's more cost effective to run all radiators in the same time frame with the thermostats set at temp of your choice. There is no point in firing up the boiler to address a single radiator. I am still wondering if in the depths of winter it's best leaving the system running 24 hrs with differing temp schedules for each radiator rather than letting the house cool down. Any opinions on the matter?

    • @user-cw9ym7fv8l
      @user-cw9ym7fv8l 9 месяцев назад

      I think it depends on the thermal performance of your house. Mine is "poor" (EPC E) and cools down at around 0.5C per hour in the winter. There's no point in running the system overnight when not required. However, when the system fires up in the morning it "overshoots" which I suppose is wasteful.@@ianbudniak2923

      Wiser forms part of a much bigger connected range in Schneider Electric which has much more development capability and integration with other products and technologies. Unfortunately it was necessary to discontinue the miGenie range as the platform was no longer capable of the development required to add new features expected of a smart heating control. We have put in place a discount and support structure to make upgrading to Wiser as simple as possible.

Being forced into buying a Wiser starter kit feels like throwing good Monday after bad. They should be giving them out to customers if only to stave off understandably negative comments like this.
