    3 years late but anyway. your points are great and your analysis is also great. however one thing to remember is that even if their situations seem similar at first, they are very different all things considered. Shizue was summoned as a child in war, she clung to life as her original instinct, and submission to the strong was her first and best option. Therefore she became Leon's subordinate, and she spent many years as such, growing and learning to listen and adhere to others orders and whims. Even after she was taken in by the hero this childlike clingyness remained, because it kept her alive, it kept her safe. Its no wonder it never left, she grew up without her own choice, so once she was grown she preferred the safety of not choosing. she also grew up in this new world with these new rules, she spent multiple decades traveling around. This world had become her new home, no matter how much she loved her previous one, of course she didnt want to die in this world she wasnt born in, but it was her Home, and she didnt hate anyone because of that. comparing this with Nanahoshi who was transported much later in her life and has spent a much shorter amount of time in it, its easy to understand why and how their approach and mentality are different. Nanahoshi reacts in a pretty realistic manner for her situation, Shizue reacts in a pretty realistic manner for her situation, its when you compare their reactions with only minimal context of situation that Shizue's reactions seem less.

    I forget where I read this, but supposedly SDF Macross was supposed to end with the episode where the main Zentraedi fleet gets destroyed after it has destroyed the Earth's surface. What I read was that the toys (which apparently preceded Transformers by six months?) were selling so well that the show's producers were cajoled into tacking that additional arc onto the end. As I said, I do not recall where I read this.

    I think the Zentradi that seek to rebel are not violent due to their nature, but combat veterans trying to make sense of an overnight shift in their reality. There is an emotional aspect as well: this is a big cashcow series with a huge dedicated fanbase, so the expectation is that the ending will at least be a culmination of all the years the series has been running. But the problem is that the ending just didn't make me feel anything, it had no emotional impact with how quick and barebones it was. I think just a few more chapters would have helped with providing better closure to the main characters and to the series as a whole, but as it stands it just feels like it was rushed out as fast as possible

    Chapter 236 was just 2 to 3 pages short of perfection in my opinion. The way we go from the high of Chapter 235 of Gojo "winning" to him being in the afterlife airport was just too jarring in my opinion. Reading it for the first time definitely did its job as shock factor, but it permanently took away from the epicness of 235 as well as from future rereads. Chapter 236 simply needed 2-3 more pages, with either some altered or added dialogue in the airport scenes, to make it perfect. Personally, I would have started Chapter 236 following right after 235, continuing on the high of Gojo "winning," with the first page building on that high with the main cast celebrating and cheering. But then, in the second page introduce, slowly build up, and play into the uneasy sense of "everything seems to be going TOO well given this is Jujutsu Kaisen." Have some of the spectators (like Yuta since he's been one the most keen observers of that battle) and then even Gojo himself start to have a sense of unease that everything is going too well, just like how Toji did when Gojo awakened all those years ago. And just like Toji back then, Gojo brushes off his unease (to further parallel him with Toji and to add into the theme of Gojo being Sukuna's Toji). Slowly build up that unease until you bring that terrible feeling to a crescendo in the third page with Sukuna using a Cleave in what seems to be a move of desperation, with Gojo wondering why Sukuna is doing something that seems to be pointless. As the Cleave rushes towards Gojo, have Gojo ultimately saying that it's fine because Sukuna can't bypass his Infinity without Amplification or Mahora- Then cut to Gojo in the airport, with the rest of 236 playing out as it did, but again, perhaps with some altered or added dialogue. This would have made the chapter perfect in my opinion as it would have completely done away with the "off screening" that a lot of people had an issue with (including myself) And if you don't like how Gojo could see Cleave in this little scenario I made because you think Gojo can't see them, then Gojo simply noticing "the spark" that precedes a cursed technique that Sukuna mentioned accomplishes the same thing.

    On Sukuna's "Love": The way I see it, sukuna's love is not what he expresses to kashimo during his afterlife scene, but rater his own selfishness. Sukuna demonstrated his love by being overwhelmingly stronger than everyone, giving even someone like Gojo a reminder that there was still a mountain to climb (very hegelian, might I add). His love, in a way, is very "non-Platonic", as it requires destroying the ego of the other to elevate the relationship (as seen with Jogo, Gojo, Kashimo, and in a way, Yuji). Yuji has a more idealistic version of love, being always about the other and never about the "I", dialectically opposing sukuna. And as we saw in the finger bearer fight, his outward love for others came from his own selfishness, being an inverse of sukuna's love. Sukuna's love is a phenomenon caused by the "truth" of traditional Jujutsu, this truth being power. Traditional jujutsu values very straightforward techniques, with a great emphasis on raw strength, hence why they despise techniques like Hakari's. Yuji's version of love is meant to eventually be elevated from this dialectical opposition, and obtaining a new versions of "love" that exists outside both power and the self. Because of this, I believe that Gojo's loneliness doesn't really detract from the story narratively, but its up to the reader if it does detract from his character.

I believe sukuna has a subconcious desire to be loved, thus extending his search beyond his era. But ofc, we see he doesnt achieve so, as he hates yorozu and has a mild amount of respect for the others. Tldr, sukuna copes with loneliness and unfilling life with apparent hedonism

    You touched on a good bit and I do agree that ultimately Isayama wrote himself into a corner. The nail in the coffin is the arbitrary time Shifters have before they die. If there was no time limit then Hanges plan would've worked, Historias idea would've worked, diplomacy and actual political engagement would not only be viable but the only reasonable choice. AoT has a mean, dark view of the world which is shrouded by the subject matter - at first slaughter and wonton cruelty, then discrimination and prejudice, but so much of how characters work and think and interact drips with mean, cruel people and an immaturity in political understanding or development that Isayama clearly lacked. I agree, it's systemic, I hoped that AoT would end in a better place than where it started as a sign of hope ( looking at you Promised Neverland manga, surprisingly good ending ) but it just never confronted how fundamentally wrong so much of its worldview are. When the metaphorical Race Realsim ( only Eldians can be shifters = only Latinos do X or are naturally inclined to X ), Isayama could've made it so Marleyans can be shifters too but racist propaganda did it ( were all the same ) or that it was a punishment BECAUSE they're discriminated against already ( your evil because you went to jail) but instead we get Armin complaining about the stereotype ( they think we're monsters cause only we can shift ) while Eren is at the range practicing and our MC unironically agrees with the metaphorical stereotype ( We ARE monsters ). It just reveals a lot about the guts this world is built on top of

  • @realexiscastro7213
    @realexiscastro7213 Год назад

    You summed it up very well - these were my exact sentiments as well. Out the way, my understanding is the same for the adaption - Sukuna is just spawning slashes and because they don't take time, there's no distance crossed, so Infinity doesn't apply. It's also consistent with what we learn about Jukutsu being a power of removal since it's new for him, he still needs his hands to make it as opposed to a regular Cleave that's without a hand sign. I don't mind Gojo dying, but the fight was so good and Gojo really pulled out so many clever tricks and feats and it felt well earned, it honestly felt EARNED and then that satisfaction is denied. Last chapter felt the same way again with me but I won't spoil here. I do want to say, it's funny that GeGe and Horikoshi are friends because both series are in their final arc, both end game villains share a lot of similarities but if you were to ask people 6 months ago the sentiments would've been flipped. The Sukuna fight started fantastically and as time has gone on, it feels almost worse and narratively and thematically bad whereas the final MHA big bad people complained the fight took too long, felt like ass pulls, etc. but as it's gone on, it's actually become better and better and actually has become incredibly narratively satisfying and delivers on so many setups from before both for the characters but plot. To me the difference is clear between such similar setups - Hori delivered on what he promised and setup, GeGe teased us and then gave us a nut shot. Seemingly just because he COULD subvert expectations

He couldn't use any of his slashes, only his 10 shadows and domain expansion. I Think the only problem was when Gojo mentioned the 10 shadows. I think what Gege is trying to tell us is that Sukuna could've killed Gojo with his CT, but we don't know why he didn't use it. Maybe it was Kenjaku's request before the fight? I'm not sure.

  • @rainiwakura2430
    @rainiwakura2430 Год назад

    The whole concept of using Mahoraga is just a deus ex machina that Gege used to give Sukuna a way to cut Gojo because otherwise there is no logical way to do so. Instead, he can write something like "Mahoraga analyzed your abilities and found a flaw" where logically there isn't any, because that way it obscures the actual thinking behind breaking the character he himself wrote to be undefeatable (Gojo). Simply put, he didn't know how to kill him and had to wave it away by saying someone else within the story knows how and just bam Sukuna pulls out an ass pull slash and we are done. So then he doesn't even need to figure out how Sukuna would pull it off, the EZ clean Mahoraga used its algorithm to do it for him! The issue with people in the comments here is that they think people are mad about Gojo dying, and reality is obviously he was going to lose, otherwise the story wouldn't make sense. But IT IS THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN THAT IS TRASH. Show us HOW Gege in a way that honors what you built and doesn't just show that you wrote yourself into a corner. Yall gotta stop dickriding for him and Sukuna just because you like the character the same way dumbass Gojo fans were raging about him dying in general. It's no different. Also it's just entirely mind boggling seeing people being like "Gege writes whatever he wants", "It actually wasn't bad", as if your impressions can overwrite impressions of others. If someone doesn't like something it's not because they're stupid or don't understand it the way your Rick and Morty sounding ass did, it's because Gege wrote it poorly. Especially so when more than half of the audience is angry. That's generally not a good sign in any media when people who liked your work for 235 chapters suddenly start saying you suck. You all are welcome to keep reading and enjoying the story, nobody is out there trying to make you feel otherwise, you just come to a clearly negative video and try to convince others they're stupid and blind. Please don't act as if we are all reading Quantum Mechanics textbook, and let me tell you Gege doesn't get calculus as you much as you guys think he does.

    4:40 idk why ppl get so mad at nanami misunderstanding gojo like do expect nanami to have the same amount of knowledge as the reader does so he can properly understand gojo's character? In Nanami introduction he literally outright states that he doesn't respect gojo and then died not long after that. Characters can be wrong idk why you take nanami's words as truth (or worse a substitute for gege's words) when they obliviously meant to be incorrect, he literally said gojo doesn't care about others right after gojo finishes saying nobody really understands him, gege can't be more on the nose than this. Half of gojo's characterization is about how others just can't see past his strength to gojo the person, you ever notice that gojo's jokes literally never land the entire series, he is the odd man out throughtout the entire series. Gojo's power is also just an allegory to his struggles, he builds an infinite space between himself and the rest of the world, gojo being misunderstand is the entire point of his character.
