Dartmouth to Poole. Portofino 31. May 2000
Absolutely loved it. Thank you for sharing. I was a bay boat man also.
It doesn't. Impossible to understand. Amateur.
I'm looking at one of these. Can you remember what fuel consumption you get at cruise speed?
Simon I didn't really bother with the fuel consumption!! If you want the boat it will use what it uses and depends on how you use it. I will say that we left Falmouth with a pretty much full tank - 140 miles to Poole in one go and I was twitching a bit when passing Weymouth whether to go in and get some fuel. Did the run at a steady 20-21 knots. Made it to Poole oK but not that much left in the tank - according to the gauge that is!? Not that big a tank, as I remember (330 litres or something like that). Actually did a lot of work on the boat and wish I still had it, in a way! Nice boats.
Sailed on the Encounter, Botany, Flinders, Discovery, Jarvis Bay in the seventies. Good times.
I sailed on the Flinders as a deck cadet from Sept 79 to March 1980. The best of all the ships I served on. I think John Lay (not sure of spelling) was 1st officer and went on to be the master in '82 - Best guide and mentor I had.
niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
How much did the underbody restoration cost?
The total was well into 5 figures. Mainly labour , of course. All of the new parts I had slowly collected/bought over the previous 18 months or so, which helped soften the blow a bit.
Can we please have a private contact. Can you write to me? I will also make an appointment with him. I would like to know how much I have to budget just for the work without materials. I have already purchased the material as well.
I would be happy if you contact me. You can be very helpful to me. I am currently in contact with James. But for me it is important to know how much just the pure work cost. - Powder coating - Sandblasting - Underbody from front to back Regards
If you in contact with James then that is the way to go. Probably best to let them do one of their inspections then they can give a better idea on price. All cars are different and all owners requirements are different, so I wouldn't be able to give a price, which, no doubt, has increased since mine was done. If you want the restoration to the same standard just tell James. Suggest you join m3cutters forum, if you are not there already. Loads of restorations been done on there.
I come from Germany. I need to get my vehicle there and it needs to be started the same day. So I would like at least an example of how much they paid so I have a rough idea of what to expect in terms of cost. Can't you tell me what just the labor cost without the BMW parts they put on their vehicle so I can budget for that? That would be very helpful to me...
Was a wonderful life working on the bay boats, just wish i had the brains to realise it at the time. Got 9 great trips in before my youthful brain fucked it for me. Many fond memories RIP Tony " Abdul " weathrall and big Gus the jock. Ill never forget you boys ever
That's one very well cared for boat. How old was the boat and how many hours at the time of filming?
Filmed in 2015. 2005 boat. 350 hours on engine.
@@rolyace0993 Impressive. Thanks:-)
The E46 M3 was way ahead of its time. One of the best sports cars ever built...
You need a mirrored driveway to show off the underside !
Good idea, maybe get some quotes LOL
That’s a stunning looking example. Enjoyed watching the restoration videos. Just bought CSL (replica) wheels myself for my convertible.. They finish the look nicely. Nice contrast with the interior! 👍🏻
Agree, I just had to get rid of the original 67? code wheels.
Quick video walkaround just uploaded. Forgive my poor videoing!
looks spectacular
Super video The boat is very clean. I wonder how much it costs?
Are we removing bmw part stickers or no? I have done complete part/ nut and bolt replacement and am advised by bmw to take stickers off to prevent corrosion, despite the parts being brand new and finished from the factory🤷♂️ Thoughts ?
How much to get those parts zinc coated?
Zinc plating was £90+VAT for the lot.
nice, clean now . How did you clean , break cleaner spray?
I didn't do the work. Redish Motorsport in Bristol did it. Consumables on the invoice include: brake cleaner, fuel (I assume petrol?), POR15 Marine Clean Degreaser. Loads of microfibre cloths, various wire brushes, flap discs and Scotchbrite pads.
What a lovely well kept boat. 👍
360P nation. Nice video btw!
great ship, did two double headers 85&87,what a party,& good to see the roof top of the chicks hotel. Should start cutting them up back here again, there is plenty of empty dry docks, contain not contaminate?
The “High Seas” maybe too much for this ship! A Coastal Cruiser, I would expect!
Same with any boat: depends on the weather. Longest trip we did was Falmouth to Poole, around 140 miles non-stop. Went well. Steady 20-22 knots. Flat out was around 35, so plenty in reserve if required.
Rather Pleasant not hearing all of the details, watch and learn!
I've seen plenty of E46 M3 videos. But I think for the first time I'm speechless. Well done. Was this car ever sold?
Work was done June/July 2021. I still have the car and some more to do on it. Not thinking of selling, in the short term anyway.
This is a great restoration series, this restoration job is amazing!
Nice car
Amazing!
Hi, what kind of coast we looking at?
20K and more
What an increadibly detailed detailed restoration. I'm a bit surprised the owner would make this investment on a convertible. Hard to believe they'll get their ROI.
I am the owner! Not worried about ROI just wanted it right.
@@rolyace0993 you’re the owner? I didn’t realize that. What a cool project and so satisfying to watch the progress.
nice boat would of liked some commentary
Impressive work and attention to detail. Please post vids of your work being done.
To see loads of videos of this work go to channel: Redish Motorsport. They are the company that did the work.
wow, amazing work. Subscribed!
Very impressed
Outstanding work to preserve a future classic! What I happy owner. How much did this all cost parts and labor?
Cost a lot! More than the car cost!! But worth it in the end. Over 20K!!!!!!
Am I mad - probably. But car drives like new and I know that underneath is as good as new.
The effort is huge, but the effect is great. It‘s a pleasure to watch!
Thanks. Effect on the wallet was great as well, but i think well worth it in the end.
I was half expecting to see Skippy bounding across the screen!!!!
what kinda coating u used for the underside restoration?
Paint is weld through primer where required, then primer and hi-build primer. Sprayable seam sealer on top. Do not know the trade names of the coatings used.
Single or twin engines?
These were always single engine. Volvo, Cummins or Merc.
What is your company name? Or who has done the work. Fish motorsport reddish motorsport
Redish Motorsport
Nice!!!!
Das ist so eine Perfekte Arbeit 👍👍🙏🙏
When we gunna see whole car
Had a look and surprised I have not got a video of the outside of the car! Will do one when this present series is finished. Only a few more days for these.
Haven't forgotten about the walkround video - waiting for the weather to warm up a bit!
@@rolyace0993 can’t wait
E46 m3 !!!! Amazing guys
There is noway I would drive it, this would be a garage queen..
Must admit that I am very 'picky about road conditions when I take it out but it is out fairly regularly, just a bit less during the winter. Roads get salted - wait for a good dose of rain - wait for the roads to dry off a bit. Sad!?
Der Unterboden ist ein Traum super Arbeit Respekt 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
Very nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Beautiful
how much did all of this cost ? and how long does the whole process take ?
Redish Motorsport had the car for 9 weeks. If you go on the M3 Cutters forum and in the E46 M3 section look for thread: Post Restoration video. The majority of the costs are there.
Who did all this work? Looks epic
Redish Motorsport Bristol.
Nice. Hopefully get my Z3 M Coupé done there in the future. Enjoy your stunning car with a big smile on your face. Atb.
