Is This the Real EV Killer ? Synthetic Fuel | Grant Williams Racing
Просмотров 4136 месяцев назад
In our latest RUclips episode we return from the future where all vehicles are using synthetic fuels. In comparison, we've not invested in electrification, nor hydrogen, but we certainly like the synthetic fuel idea. Why? Because there is no need to reinvest a conventional engine that carried us for the past 60 years (Jaguar XK), just add synthetic fuel and you are driving 'green'. And yes, syn...

November's glimpse into the P&K Thornton Restoration workshops
Please Lancha, not L'ansia.
I really want to get this stuff in my Cortina.
Let us know how we can help! Our rolling road setup is ready to tune 👍
My friend/mentor in auto restoration used to tell perspective customers "I am slow and expensive but the work is done right. If you're going to come over to complain about how long or how much, be sure to bring a trailer."
Well said!
FABULOUS JAGUAR MKI, ITS COMPRESSION RATIO MUST BE 9.5:1 OR VERY CLOSE!!!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
BUY1 is legendary!
@@pkthorntonrestorations Yes ideed Classic Saloon Car racer!!!! Unfortunately much too expensive for muy budget!!! Cheers from Argentina on its 9th July, it is Independence Day!!!
Why does it not ever get mentioned that it is a true. HEMI engine. !!!!!
Looks awesome guys
Thank you! 🙏
Beautiful car, well filmed, pity about the poor sound quality. Would've probably been better had it been recorded in mono, rather than stereo.
Thank you, I will pass the feedback onto our camera man!
The virtues of retro modding are subtle developments of the OE. The vices are to bling up a steel car with a carbon fibre reskin and retrim. A good resto mod should please the anorak observer. I would have a closer look at the F-type S1 for several reasons: 1. It should be possible to lighten it by (at least) 300kg by removing unnecessary "stuff" (using more elegant thinner, lighter wheels and tyres, smaller battery, e-windows, lighter seats w/o motors, better dash, etc). Light is right... 2. Some parts look very cheap letting down the rest of the car which is well engineered. 3. Manual gearboxes and LSDs. 4. F-types are now 10 years old is the last real Jaguar... Need some help ?
Some very good points in there Andrew! Will keep in mind!
Series 2 Coupe Clean up the rear XK with updated internals and throttle bodies Nitron dampers Verde Francesca over brown alcantara Lower weight wherever possible
That’s exactly what we did on this particular restomod, albeit we started with a S3 on this occasion 🍑
This is it!! At my age,72 years old, this IS without any doubt THE car l would like to own!!, only would consider the Jaguar MKll Saloon car as an option!!!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Fantastic to hear it! 🙏
Lyons must have been off his meds when he came up with the 2.4 Litre, madness! reducing the capacity of this engine and turning it into a boat anchor. It could never have been a money maker and from a manufacturing costing point of view would have been his number one loser.
Maybe an Italian style tax saving strategic move? If cars were taxed based on cc, the 2.4l would have been in the under 2.5l class. Money in the bank! 🏦
@@pkthorntonrestorations Yes, the old point 4, D squared N formula was stupid, why did they tax engines on bore diameter and number of cylinders?
Im surprised you continued man, lot's of change's. You are a master, in 1971 I had a 61" type E convertible memories
Thank you so much! Appreciated 🙏
What heads are you using?
SP heads from the MOD used on tanks 🇬🇧
Hello. What solution would you suggest for a car that has all matching numbers except the head. Is there a 'M' version or something that I could substitute in absence of the original head which may have been removed because it was warped or failed. Any ideas would be amazing?
There’s not much you can do without the original head. Just enjoy the car! Drive it, break it, repair it, enjoy the memories
great video
Thanks!
I'm glad that you didn't crash when the bonnet came off. Did you have secondary bonnet fasteners? In Australia they are mandatory, where the bonnet is rear or front hinged.
We did have secondary fasteners yes, however they were unclipped 🤦♂️
Very well presented.
Thank you kindly!
Come on guys! Busting to see the next instalment!
We are due to restart work on the Flaminia in May, sorry got busy with a couple of Alfas 🙋♂️
Very good video.
Thank you very much!

Totally 👍
These engines are mechanical pieces of art.
Well said, indeed!
Great video here! I recently purchased a 250 V8 last month and I wish I saw this video beforehand so I could’ve been more thorough. Mine is definitely not as nice as this one shown here but for what it is, it’s useable enough. Mine is definitely letting water in somewhere and I suspect it’s one of the rubbers along the windows as you showed here. Great video overall though and thank you for taking the time to make it!
No problem at all, let us know if we can help with anything!
I notice the breather valve is blocked of on your engine builds…. Is ther a reason for this mod….thanks
It’s only blocked on the race engines because we are using the breather in the cam covers and further into a swirl pit for recirculating 🏁
@@pkthorntonrestorations 100%
Excellent stuff as usual. very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
An enthusiastic presentation! Good race wiring is absolutely essential to avoid either being let down, running out of power or catching fire. Paul is right to underline that not all events are frivolous and held on a summer's day with a garden party atmosphere and where gremlin's are quickly dismissed with a glass of bubbly. Late January in the Vercors on an icy road, in the dark or a very wet Francorchamps in the dark at 200 km/h through Blanchimont...are places where good electrics are essential. It is good to know that folks like Paul can help out. I have a project in mind.
Thank you so much Andrew, we would be delighted to assist! 💡
Another excellent video 👍👌
Thanks again!
Very Nice… how much power 😊
We will reveal the dyno results soon! Haven’t measured yet 😏
Bloody Lovely
Thank you! I
Depressing actually!
What is?
Jct or gct?
What oil would you use ? I know what the book says but oil sae has changed over time
Millers 20w50 👍
Honest dealings
Thank you!
First well done video. Only criticism (and take no offense please), I would add is mentioning restoration being sentimental in nature. I guess it seemed like its a negative when really i feel those sorts of tribute works can be most genuine as the passion is there to do it right vs cutting corner to make a buck (like so many flippers now a days). I know i executed my resto of my father's (original owner car) and i said right up front, money is no object. And i have no regrets. Well done gents, fantastic shop there.
Thank you sir! No offence taken!
I'm a big fan of Lancias - especially the Flaminia Coupe (Pininfarina version). The hard top version of this car is stunning but Superleggera is the CRAZIEST way of building a body - all that galvanic corrosion and no discernible advantage over a unibody structure that I can see. Probably why Touring was the only company I know who used this method.
Thank you Steve, we love them equally well!
I had a red Triang E-type as a kid in the late 60s. Loved it. Then a collection of matchbox E-types and for the last 25 years, the real thing! Could never be without an E-type
We all need to have E-Types in our lives! One shape or form 👍
Very honest and I completely agree. keep up the good work Daz.
Thank you so much! 🙏
So true..
Somebody had to say it!
Fantastic video, very interesting and explains clearly what is involved during a proper restoration.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice looking race prepared Jaguar. Hope it performs well.
It sure did, winning the class against other MK1/MK2 and 10th overall out of 40 starters 👏
Another great video. Its a pity that you upload so seldom, you really have a lot of interesting projects that we would love to see in more detail.
More to come sir! Thank you for your feedback, very useful! We are considering bringing in a content creator that can film us more so we can show you what we do and also what we can do 🙏
Very rare peddal car. Difficult to value, I would say £2,000/3,000 restored, but, I wouldn't be surprised if someone paid £4,000. Wonderful business you have there, very impressive.
Indeed hard call on the pedal car! Thank you very much!
Great engine, nicely detailed.
Thank you! 🙏
Remove all that garbage from it add some NGKs, BOSCH dizzy & turn it full electronic, remove all shit Lucas sensors refit with Hella/BOSCH or TICO and sensors/looms and with a modern high CFM Edelbrock or Autolite 2V carb, run electric fans because you want a high flow water pump that’s power isn’t stolen from those blades..!!! Lightweight Weisco pistons and all alloy lifters etc with roller bearings.. lighter weight thus quicker engine response.!! Its about reliability, useable power as you don’t need 500hp, running 300hp means you can run its ass off at peak performance, like running Alfa’s from the late 70s early 80s, screaming the engine and gearbox with that full on durty grin.!
Well said, I like your ideas! 💡
Bueatiful
Any question eh? Okay! Will I look this good if I start working at a Body shop one day? Seems likes its a better idea then a Gym Membership.
Haha thank you for your feedback! 👏
this is completely all original we just replaced the body the engine and the interior !
Nobody is perfect!
Bare metal starts to rust immediately so I'm wondering what these restoration guys are thinking. Once exposed to the air, the rust process begins. You may not see it but it's there.
Absolutely correct 👍
What would we do without so many RUclips videos telling us “the truth!!!”
I know, right?
Brilliant
Thanks 🤩
A friend (lately departed) had one, a Coupe though, that needed some attention to the body. He found a panel beaters dolly inside the wheel arch! They don't make 'em like that any more... 🙄
We found a pair of old safety google when we removed the fuel tank!
