LEGO Colours
One of my all time favourite experiments is how colours change depending on the light they're under. In this quick demonstration, I used a multi color LED bulb to illuminate a palette of LEGO bricks.
This is meant as a demonstration rather than a full explaination on the phenomenon.

BumperBot
Просмотров 239Год назад
When Robot Inventor came out, there were many negative opinions about its lack of touch sensors. After all, these are a classic element used in basic projects like bumpers. To overcome this apparent lack of sensors, I made a tiny driving base equipped with two four bar linkages. These simple mechanisms press the side buttons whenever the front bumpers hit against something.
Design session: bug

This was a recording test of one of a design session for my job. Today I was digging on my old files and found it. It's funny how things become more precious over time, when I first made this recording I din't find it specially good, but now looking back, I find it deeply endearing.
Mini Épsilon: a Minifig scale robot arm with LEGO Mindstorms
Просмотров 7542 года назад
More a proof of concept than an actual working model, here's mini Épsilon, the smallest robot arm I could come up with. The main obstacle when miniaturizing lego mechanisms is the size of the pieces: a mechanism that uses gears can only be so small. I overcame this obstacle by getting rid of any means of mechanical transmission and instead of levers and gears, this arm's superstructure is contr...
Mini Delta: A 2 DOF robot arm with LEGO Mindstorms
Просмотров 2 тыс.2 года назад
Introducing the newest addition to the robot arm series: Mini Delta, the smallest one so far: the hub, motors and mechanisms fit nicely in a 19x11 technic plate. Made with Robot Inventor electronics (and a lot of extra parts), this arm's primary function is to grab and sort small Lego pieces like 2x2 bricks. In this video, the robot arm performs a calibration sequence, and makes a sound once it...
Drawing Machine, after Isogawa.
Просмотров 2383 года назад
I got a copy of Yoshihito Isogawa's new books: "LEGO Technic non-electric models, and his drawing machine caught my eye right away. As I played with it, I made so many modifications that I just wanted to fast forward the whole process so I could just stare at it and be mesmerized...so I added a motor. It kind of defeats the book's purpose, but it allowed me to have free hands to shoot some vide...

LEGO Gyroscope

"Gyroscopic effect is ability (tendency) of the rotating body to maintain a steady direction of its axis of rotation. The gyroscopes are rotating with respect to the axis of symmetry at high speed. This gives them big kinetic energy ... The gyroscopic effect is dependent on the weight of the rotating body, the weight distribution around the rotation axis, and the angular speed" Reference: Náhlí...
LEGO tablet RC stand

I made a remote controlled stand with variable position. It uses one M motor and two medium linear actuators. It's strong enough to lift a G1 iPad (still rocking!) with ease.
LEGO Mechanical Fair Ride

My local LUG gave us daily build challenges a cuple weeks ago, and one of them was a mechanical ride. So I said "It's my time to shine" It may never get Safety Approval, but what do inspectors know about fun? Music: Super Mario World - Underwater Theme, composed by Koji Kondo. Single-motor line follower with EV3
Просмотров 1 тыс.4 года назад
How simple can a line follower be? How much can a single motor be exploited? With this in mind, I started working on this model. The result is a robot capable of following a line with minimum electronic hardware: just a single motor and a single light sensor is enough to control each wheel independently and to...well, to follow a line. How does it work? If you only have a motor, this motor can ...
Hexapod: A six legged walking mechanism with LEGO
Просмотров 17 тыс.4 года назад
A couple years ago I saw the Motorized Steampunk Walker Mecha Tank created by consular_ship, who shared it on Flickr back in 2009. This sparkled my interest in LEGO mechanisms, and my first moc was an attempt to replicate it. Now, with this reworked version of the hexapod, I want to share a very accesible and easy to build model to anyone who is interested in walking machines, hoping to spark t...
Mini Gamma: A 2 DOF robot arm made with LEGO Mindstorms
Просмотров 4,1 тыс.4 года назад
The third robot arm of the Mini series is here! Mini Gamma is an attempt to make the smallest possible superstructure, and if the claw looks familiar to you, it's because it's also a homage to T-56, the robot arm designed for the first NXT release back in 2006. Unlike it's elder brothers, Gamma does not have any sensors, so it relies on a precise routine to move balls from one place to another....
MotoCar/TukTuk
Просмотров 1 тыс.4 года назад
The MotoCar has several names around the world: TukTuk and Triciclo being the most common. It's a platform that owes it's popularity to it's versatility: It can be adapted to use it as a transport for people (as a motorickshaw), it can be adapted as a pickup for urban goods delivery or it can be adapted as a transporter vehicle. Much like it's real life counterpart, this model is a platform: Th...
Mini Beta: A robot arm made with LEGO Mindstorms
Просмотров 4,4 тыс.4 года назад
This 2 DOF robot arm features a base that concentrates the three motors, this allows the superstructure to be compact, light, fast and precise. All the motion is transmitted mechanically to the joints, and perhaps the greatest highlight here is the use of two concentrical axles that go trough the turntable. The rotating superstucture consists of an arm and the smallest claw I could make. This c...

Thank you! Really thank you, I have been trying to build robotic arms with LEGO for a long time, and in all my attempts I have failed, I have tried my own designs, or imitate some that I have seen out there, however, not having the instructions I have not been able to make a functional arm, and find this design so simple, compact and functional, with its instructions It will be of great help to me, thank you very much!! 🦾

Hello! Is there a way to make this with Lego powered up? I want to make a robot arm and I have been trying to for around a year now, but the only motors I have are two technic motors and one boost motor.

Hello! Yes, absolutelt there is. This robot arm as well as the others I've posted are "puppet" mechanisms, meaning, the articulations and joints are powered by motors that are bundled in the base. As long as you have your motor's outputs aligned accordignly, you should be able to power any of the robot arms I've made. Check out the instructions, there's a link in the description. -W-
