ellie and abbie will have a common enemy that leads to them joining together they will do the split day thing between ellie and abbie for an in game day or so and then the screen will visually merge from both perspectives to one as this common enemy forces them to band up mid fight huge portion of the game will now focus on ellie’s immunity with abbie and ellie together most of the rest of the game *stuff happens* they find ellie’s dna has mutated for enough years now that they can make a cure without her dying so just any part of her dna is enough scientists from outside of america come on boat from one of the coasts (giving an opportunity to explain to us the gamer, how the rest of the world is doing). these are scientists that the fireflies at the end of part II know and contacted with radio *more stuff happens* vaccine is used on abbie, fireflies, jackson ville and a few others ending: the game really now emaphasisis the game is called “the last of us” they come to a realization that the only way to reset this infected condition on earth is to kill all non vaccinated and infected alike (insert convincing reason) they decide to do it after heavy deliberation (insert way to mass kill everyone that’s non vaccinated and infected) earth starts a “new genesis” and they reset the calendars to year 0 mid credits: showing about of ellie’s life after year 0 after credits: the camera pans out slowly from jackson ville and from the earth itself until its majority is in view (a nod to ellie’s interest in space) however, we keep panning back. now through the window of the ISS (what’s left of it) seeing the skeletons of the astronauts… …but we don’t stop panning back the movement of the camera stops at the contrast darkness of the inside of (another?)window and the brightly blue-sun-reflecting-earth in now almost full view outside of this window but wait, what we see can no longer be the ISS because we’re seeing the ISS in front of us in 3rd person outside view you hear footsteps on metal flooring followed by a large exhale of breathe attenuating away from the window THE LAST OF US IN LARGE FONT rest of credits role

Sure, we could get a Joel / Tommy prequel intertwined with a present day Tommy storyline and that could work wonders, especially when you bring Ellie's mother in the mix. I don't think either Joel or Tommy should be Ellie's biological father. I think we could meet him, a cool, funny dude with a great mind for stealth who finally dies saving the three of us not knowing Anna (before giving birth) got bit in the middle of the situation. Anna can hide the bite until she meets with Marlene alone and gives Ellie to her along with the letter. He could have Ellie's hair color, tattoos and the face rubbing idle animation Ellie does. Ellie's mom.. I see her blonde, same height with green eyes, a nod to Ashley Johnson more or less.

If anything naughty dog has shown time and time again they don’t care about what the fans want they’d rather do their own thing. Personally I really liked the gameplay of tlou 2 but Joel’s death was something I couldn’t just forgive and forget, that character was something impactful not just for the last of us but Joel is up their on MANY people’s lists as being one of the best protagonists ever written and to then do a complete 180 on that I feel a lot of people felt betrayed.

Nah, maybe some flashbacks but I don’t think there will be connective tissue of Joel/Ellie pre-P1. Too “Hollywood” not “grounded”. As much as they have said to be exhausted by the series, I think P3 has to be the last, at least the last of the Ellie-focused story. It’s gotta be Ellie focused, with Abby, and something that brings all the parts together for a finale’.

That would be a good way to bring people back but knowing Neil Druckmann it'l follow on after part 2 with Abby and the Trans kid and you'l play as the Trans kid trying to fit in, in the Zombie Apocalypse.

Part 3 will be a sequel not a prequel. Joel meets Ellie's mom? No way, part 1 Joel doesn't even know who her mom was.

When has Neil Druckmann said this? If recent, a prequel is very likely. They should do both ideas in a single game and create a new horror IP afterwards. For now, I play No Return and it generates the best action sequences Naughty Dog has ever done. Go : holdouts only with Manny, Survivor, no mods and an infected for a boss. Good luck... I had to up my game in strides to succeed for the first time. It's totally worth it!!

I don’t want a prequel. I want to see the future and the ending. Ellie deserves to have an ending just like Joel did and that’s where we finish the series. Maybe we can get an Uncharted with Cassie Drake afterwards, that’d be great for me.

0:36 yes, he has! I remember an interview from way back in the day where he said that he wouldn't make a sequel because TLOU ended Joel and Ellie's story and TLOU isn't TLOU without them. Or maybe he said that the sequel would be with different characters because their story was done? Really wish I could find that interview, it was a really old Q&A panel I think

I think this is a horrible take and not in the style of Neil Drukmann's writing. It will involve Elle and Tommy, but the story will keep moving the story forward. Not a prequel.

It should just be a prequel because there's literally no other story to tell after Joel's death, unless they write another character that is immune and kill off Ellie. A sequel as Tommy doesn't make sense because he's practically the leader of Jackson so him having an adventure won't work. Unless they do a expansion with Tommy killing the military dudes across the state would be the only thing.

From a game perspective this would not work, cause it does not incentivise introducing different infected enemies, cause the story will take place during the beginning of an outbreak, which would not even justify putting a clicker or hell even a bloater in the game. Last of us 2 introduced more infected enemies cause time has allowed the virus to mutate.

Mid franchise and Tlou part 1 is the second most overrated game of all time.

I think at some point we'll play as Tommy, and in those playthroughs we'll have flashbacks to that 20 year period. Just not the center plot around Part 3. I've been thinking a lot about the way they took someone from the ending of Part 1 and carried him to the plot for 2 (the doctor), one of the prisoners Ellie freed in the resort could be someone just as pivotal for 3: an ally Joel and Tommy had during that period that could cross paths with Ellie again, and maybe return the favor to her at some point, thus keeping the Joel- Ellie connection in some other way.

The Joel prequel idea has always sounded dumb. The cordyceps stuff is cool, but the real draw to the world is the relationship between Joel and Ellie and other characters. God of War or Red Dead prequels can work because the world is as much of a draw as the characters imo. It also sounds too Star War-sy. The 20 year gap works better as a mystery, we don't need to fill in all the gaps. Last of Us 3 HAS to continue the story forward, not backward, especially since there's a TV show waiting on it.

If it’s not a prequel they need to focus on Abby and lev💯Ellie was extremely boring in part 2…also a prequel with the same characters literally ads zero tension to the story because you already know they are going to survive

It's a fun idea but it wouldn't bring that much to the story, it would just be MCUing the franchise, and Part II was so raw that I don't see that clash happening. I still think III will be like 15 years in the future, the Fireflies will be stronger, the infected will be stronger and the idea of a cure will be more needed. Maybe the Fireflies will have tried with another miraculously immune person and failed, and Ellie is the second try which could bring back all for nothing sacrifice and all. The way they could bring back Joel would be as Ellie's inner dialogue.

In GROUNDED documentary Neil already said that he thinks about a sequel with Tommy

I could only imagine a Tommy game. Him being partially disabled could bring interesting mechanics to the game. He could have flashbacks with Joel, but I want him to be absent in thw game. However I trust Neil, I am one of those who was completely blown away by part 2

Luke complains about pt2 being too depressing, but wants a game with Joel and Tommy doing the most messed up shit to people, being super depressed doing it. Makes sense.

i think it would be something like joel and tommy are chasing and trying to rob/kill this woman and she ultimately gets aways and we find out it was ellie's mom. i feel joel would be able to piece together if he traveled with ellie's mom in the boston area and saving a baby after the mom was bit and based on what ellie knows about her mom from what Marlene told her coming up in conversation.

In an era of SSDs and incredibly fast memory... loading screens that shows text but transitions to gameplay without an input. IF a loading screen takes 2 seconds, don't put 10 seconds worth of text on it.

0:56 That’s not good enough. Everyone would see that coming a mile away. And the voice actress for Tess died from cancer a few years ago so we can’t even bring back her to see how Joel and Tess met. A prequel would be the only way TLOU 3 turns out decent but they wont do that. They will make TLOU 3 with Ellie and Abby as the heroes. And they will throw in a couple flashbacks of Joel. It’s going to be crap.

If they make Joel a main playable character again I’m sold and I think Naughty Dog can get back in a lot of people’s good graces that way (even though I don’t think they have to because TLOU 2 was amazing in my opinion)

We obviously know that Abby is going to be a dual protagonist again which means she is going to encounter Ellie again and they are goto work together. Likely to try and end the infected apocalypse once and for all. The third game is going to have a terrible story and it won’t sell anywhere near as much as TLOU 1 or 2.

That’s why I like the main story in Starfield and Skyrim. They’re low pressure

If i have to choose a nitpick... Online only for me.... I dislike Online Only games because A. Recent times they become microtranactions hell. B.Unless promised by the devs, you will lose access to the game in the future. C.I want to be able to play my games off the line. Granted I do have 1 online only game that I put hours into, but it was very cheap, and is definitely an outlier compared to other Online only games. As nothing costs more the 5 dollar, and for those 5 dollars you get 15 cosmetic items each time. Path of Exile 2 i would love to play, but i won't because its online only.... that's legit the only thing stopping me from playing it.

Neil Druckmann only wants to make female protagonist from now on, so I think It´s impossible for The Last of Us Part 3 to be a prequel about Joel and Tommy

I think more than likely Ellie will reunite with Abby and Lev and she'll have to work with them for whatever reason. And by the end Lev gets bitten and is revealed to be immune like Ellie. Which will put Abby in a similar position as not only Joel, but also as her own father. But in the end instead of letting Lev give up his young life, Ellie will make the choice to sacrifice herself.
