The girl called Kat is very recognizable for a lot of us 90s kids because as a teen she starred in the tv series called Animorphs where a bunch of teenagers turn into animals. As a kid I remember the show freaking me out with the transformation sequences because their faces would like warp into whatever animal they were changing into. Here in the US it aired on Nickelodeon but it wasn't a Nickelodeon original show; I believe it was a Canadian series that was able to be aired and distributed in the US.

Their mother died a violent death and in this series sometimes that means their spirit will stay behind and not move on. What this proves here in this episode is that after their mother died she didn't move on to the afterlife; her spirit stayed confined to that house. But like Missouri said to the boys "real evil" came to your family that night and it left marks which she called wounds that over time got infected; what that means is once the entity killed Mary the house became a beacon for paranormal entities like the one in this episode. The fire figure was her the entire time and she was trying to protect that family from the poltergeist that Missouri said was now a part of the house too, that's why the little girl wasn't harmed when she saw her. At the end, once Sam and Dean realized they didn't get rid of the poltergeist they went back in to save Jenny and her kids. That's where Mary intervened to save Sam and she was able to appear before her sons the way they remembered her. She said "You get out of my house, and let go of my son" she was talking to the poltergeist then she attacked it which caused both spiritual energies to cancel out which means Mary's spirit is now gone, at least in the living world and she's no longer tied to the house.

She's not being mean to Dean she is showing him tough love because that is the only kind of love he would accept from another woman. In his mind he had a sweet loving mother and he wouldn't react positively to another woman attempting to be that for him. But Sam on the other hand has no memories of his mother so he is more accepting of a softer approach. She is a psychic she can sense these things. So she picks at dean in a good natured way but its also a form of affection. If she didnt care she wouldn't say anything. Its actually quite brilliant. 😊

This is probably the most unliked epiosde. I don't hate it but its not my favorite. And yes, dean is the older brother. Sam is 22 and Dean is 26. They also used real bees for the scene in the house and got stung a bunch. Then the bees didnt show up on camera so they had to use cgi bees anyways😂

This is yet another episode that's generally maligned by the fandom as being pretty terrible. I honestly don't find it that bad due to moments between the brothers where they talk about their dad and past. Please try to pay more attention to those scenes as you get more insight into both characters. We learn here Sam and his dad didn't have the best relationship and through Sam's point of view Dean was the one favored by their father; we also see Dean didn't see it that way. Dean believes their father was harder on Sam to protect him even though their father never openly expressed those sentiments, so Sam's not really wrong in how he feels because if their dad never communicated those thoughts and worries toward Sam then of course he'd believe his father's disappointed in him. Dean's spent the most time with their dad so he believes he knows him pretty well.
