I only remember that Mr.Darcy's first name is Fitzwilliam because I think it's used during one of the "extra" chapters of the extended version of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". I'd LOVE to see a detailed study on Dame Judy's Lady Catherine gown. That purple confection has, I suspect, rather more detail than the movie shows. In looking at your quick scan ofthe gown, I hadn't realised the ruffle hem on the petticoat, for instance.

The term semi-precious should be banished! It's not really synonymous with 'less expensive' as it simply means these are more commonly found in the earth than are 'precious' stones. Just as beautiful, just more of them. As a garnet girl I am NEVER disappointed with my birthstone--there are so many varied colors reds, purplish, green (Tsavorites and very expensive in any gem over 1/4 of a carat), color-change, and orange (mandarin--so much fire), what more could a gem lover want, right? Same with the glorious aquamarine--an infinite number of shades of blue than one could dream exist. Thanks for this video!

I do want to point one thing out about Mr Collins: he is not a direct cousin but slightly removed. So more than okay in Regency terms but still why they call him cousin. Even in these days that distance might be seen as ok, I dont know how distanced it was. But of course in Regency times even a first cousin was fine, and as someone here pointed out, you were likely to know your cousins from a young age. You would know if you liked them or not and possibly fall in love. Interactions with non family was so restricted that getting to know some one organically was hard. Balls and other courtship occasions was basically like todays Tinder and you never knew if that swipe would lead to something good or disasterous!

Could you make a chemise a la reine with African wax fabric? Or is the fabric too stiff? Basically an African character would like to sew (i would never wear this because it would be an appropriation) African wax fabric into a chemise a la reine. Or would the stiffness of African wax fabric be more suited to a robe Italian from the 1770s? Also if you were walking the streets of Paris in the 1780's would you see non aristocratic women wearing dresses like the chemise a la Reine? Didn't noodle on Instagram (whom I am now following) make a Woolen chemise a la Reine? Would that be a feasible garment for a time traveller?

I loved this tutorial I would save it for my next project, at the moment I'm working on a shift which only historical trait is to be made with the material I could find at home, it is my first attempt at regency clothing and historical clothing in general.

Morning tea is the most common for me, followed by afternoon tea. I am sensitive to caffeine, so if I drinks any in the evening, I need decaffeinated tea. Luckily these days it exists. Otherwise I may drink hot chocolate in the evening. I only learned to like tea as an adult. The key factor was adding fresh lemon in the tea. That's my preferred addition to black tea. Then I found out green tea and how to make it good, not bitter. It won over black tea 6-1. Good green tea is fine as it is, I don't usually add anything to it (though some loose leaf blends with, say, cherry are delicious too.) But then there are some unfortunate cheap (black) teas that I can only get down with almost 50% milk and some sugar.

Many of the jewels of the British crown are tainted with blood. One is the Kohinoor diamond. It was a heartbreaking scene when I saw the painting of the skinny young 11 year old Maharaja Duleep Sigh surrendering by force his only precious possession to the British authorities the famous Kohinoor diamond. He died almost penniless in UK. I have read articles too about how Queen Mary the wife of King George V acquired the jewels of the dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna. When the dowager empress fled Russia she was able to take with her a big vault of her jewels. When she died the surviving relatives who fled Russia and are cousins to King George V plan to sell the jewels so the proceeds will be used to open a paper business and they can start new life. The jewels were sent to Buckingham Palace for safekeeping. Instead of helping her husband's relatives who are already broke Queen Mary held the jewels against the wishes of the empress relatives until the height of the great depression then she offered rock bottom price. Since they have no other means to survive as life were very hard on those times and money very hard to get they were forced to sell it. The hard part is that Queen Mary did not pay most of the agreed payment. The empress survivors lived the remainder of their lives in pauper like condition.
