Holley 5" Digital Dash Review
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.Год назад
Decided to do a quick little review of the new 5" digital dash from Holley. It was originally only available for the Sniper EFI systems but has been updated to work on Terminator X/X Max along with HP/Dominator. Nice thing I didn't mention in the video is you don't need to flash the display to switch between ECU types.

Q&A: 1986-1995 Ford Mustang Holley Plug and Play adapter
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.2 года назад
We did a live stream on February 26th, 2022 to answer some commonly asked questions on when our plug and play adapter will be available. Currently in development is our 1986-1995 Ford Mustang adapter. This will allow you to install a Holley EFI system (Terminator X, HP, Dominator) right into the factory wiring, removing the need to use the Holley wiring and needing to rewire so certain componen...
Can you dim the screen?
how does the 3 bar install if your not using the onboard one?
Our sub harness has a connection for it an external MAP. We show in the video that the sensor is already installed and we plug it in.
any part numbers on those sensors?
Sensors can be purchased over at lowdoller-motorsports.com. You would pick the sensors that fits your needs. If you need help email us and we can help you out.
Whqt kit us this tthe 550-937 or the 550-937f
A kit isn’t required, just an ECU, Wideband sensor, power harness and CAN to USB adapter. All the part numbers for those items can be found in our installation document (last page) on our website.
Does those cars have the same idle issues as the foxbodys
Yes but that is always fixed by a simple tune.
@ well Im knew to the foxbody seen, having trouble with idle issues done bout everything an it’s something different every day, thinking bout going to the terminator x, now the car is running like crap when you start it up at a cold start an runs better after warms up
I have an 81 with a 95 motor with engine/body harness. just recently threw on a VORTECH. exactly what I was looking for! was not looking forward to swapping a bunch of things to run the fox body kit.
Let us know how we can help. Be a fun project. Had a custom use our 96-98 kit on a 79 Pace Car that had a 32v 4.6L.
Does anyone else have a gasp of air go through your intake when your engine shuts off ?
We don’t have any that do that, but we’d recommend jumping on one of the Ford Holley groups on Facebook and see if anyone else does. This could be many things, one common one is air pressure stabilizing. This is because the engine is a big vacuum pump.
@@mfkustoms car runs and drive killer other than that little issue.. soon as you shut it off it has a gasp of air going through the cold air intake tube.. Unplug iac it doesn’t do it..
@@GarrettSmith-dk5wg personally I wouldn’t worry about it. What is most likely happening is what we described. Because with the IAC disconnected it’s fully closed. BBK throttle body?
@@mfkustoms yeah I’m kinda over it.. it doesn’t effect how it runs.. I’m almost positive stock throttle body
You guys do AWESOME work!!! Much respect to you guys!
Thanks!
I can't wait till I am ready for a Holley system,. I want to do coil near plug also. Do you add wires for contour fans?
Typically we won't do the wiring for fans. This is because running the main power is dependent on the application. We will absolutely help you out with ways of doing it that fit your application. Feel free to call us.
What abt the accufab iac and tps?? Any help with that?? Holly Terminator x
They use GM sensor connectors, so yes we can help with that too.
@@mfkustoms please let me kno how to proceed??
@@timweb1510 when it comes to wiring I will leave that to the professionals. It shldnt cost that much to upgrade my harness. I like the bigger FP wire ect. I'd just send it in if MF Customs will replace ends and do any upgrades.
@@jplperformance9073 give us a call next week. Phone number is on our website (www.mfkustoms.com)
Nice
Thanks
full!!! i will end up buying one from ya anyway lol
I'd love to see some more in depth videos! At about 34:45 Donny mentions the engine needing to spin over more than normal before it starts when it's hot. Sometimes, pulling a bunch of timing during cranking solves that for me. If you've read this far you've got the important parts, if you want to know how I do that, it's below: You'll need some room on the left side of the timing table between cranking and idle RPM. If the idle RPM is the far left column, you'll have to change the scaling a little. I usually do whatever the crank to run RPM is as the first RPM increment, then 100 more than crank to run, then go back to whatever is normal. I'll go online, watch the timing table while it's cranking, see what cells it's in before it fires up, and change those cells to 5 degrees. Then I change the cranking timing to 0-5. During the slow piston speed the starter can achieve, my opinion is that there is no need to lead the burn with spark advance. With 15 degrees at 200-400 RPM, it wouldn't surprise me if peak cylinder pressure was close to TDC. Pulling most (or all) the timing ensures peak cylinder pressure on the down swing of the power stroke.
what about vacuum?
Vacuum is handled by an external map sensor on this application because it has a supercharger. We recommend an external MAP sensor regardless so you don’t run a vacuum line to the ECU that can cause you issue down the road.
Does it reads the transmission temperature?
It will
cant wait to get my hands on it
Will be back in stock soon.
mine randomly flashes "ERR" then back to normal.
Haven’t seen that issue yet. I’d attempt to reflash the latest firmware on it.
Where did you get that bracket that held the holly ecu under the seat ? I have had my holly since 2017 brand new just pulled it out of the box for the first time and it does not have that . My car is a 94 mustang. Is that sold somewhere?
Holley sells it, it came with the Foxbody kits. www.holley.com/products/engine_swap_parts/swap_accessories/ecu_mounting_brackets/parts/554-157
Thanks I found it on summit last night and ordered it up. Will be ordering your kit as well as your dash mount by the stereo deck. in a little while as well.
Dam more money lolol looks like I need this .
Makes the install super simple.
Thanks guys im going to play with it and see. I have a GM iac with this setting be close? Whats do you suggest
You would need to follow a procedure for that GM IAC. They get setup differently. Still would set it up with a warm idle but the remaining settings would be completely different.
@@mfkustoms where can i get the GM IAC procedure? and remaining setting. I applicate you taking the time to respond
@@patnappo Basically with a GM IAC you get the vehicle up to temperature, adjust the idle of the car with the throttle stop until the IAC is reading around 10%. Then shut the car off, do a TPS auto set, and then slowly adjust your other Idle tables to meet your needs.
You guys are the best!
Im on the v3 software & cannot get the kpa to -14.5 for my Low Dollar 3 bar.
Most likely you have your default view in KPA. You would start at 0 and go to 300. -14.5 would be PSIG. If the scaling on the graph says KPA then you will start at 0. Low Dollar supplies both scaling.
@mfkustoms thank you that helped me out tremendously!
Does it have oil psi on it
Absolutely, you can display all channels the Holley has to offer on it.
The 5" is garbage, I bought it because the one that came with it stopped working from the wires pulling out. I bought the 5" and within a month the GPS plug stopped working ( all on a Holley Sniper)
The little micro connector they use GPS is a downside to the antenna for sure.
Do you sell this with the terminator ecu?? Can’t find it on the website unless I’m missing something lol
Since we are not a Holley dealer we don’t sell a complete kit with the Holley parts. We have partnered with Anderson Ford Motorsports to sell complete kits. www.andersonfordmotorsport.com
On the "fan on" and "fan off" settings, can you make the fans come on at a lower temperature?
You can set it to whatever you want. Just make sure you use our ICF to make sure both fan speeds are not active at the same time.
I bought this kit for my 95 Cobra, and im so excited to install it. It's for my 347 stroker with a Vortech V1.
Keep us posted on your updates on Facebook/Instagram/email or old school snail mail.
Did you install it? I have a similar setup and im curious about how it went.
@@williamharrington3936 Easiest thing I've ever done. This kit is so worth it.
Did you ever install it?
@zackgordon4417 Yes i did, super easy, and I highly recommend it.
Finally something I can use my Holley EFI for when I switch back to carb. Love it!
Lol!
I have a 95 gt running a cobra ecu and 24lb injectors, gt40x heads, cobra roller rockers, stock replacement gt camshaft, trickflow track heat intake. Absolutely nothing wrong with the car, just wish it had a lumpy camshaft. Since you keep the factory wiring in the car, what happens to the stock maf and all the smog and egr electrical connections. They just rest in place? Dont you have to configure the iac, fans, and junk in the holley to run the ccrm? Im considering this kit just to get a new camshaft. Lol
Things like the MAF and smog can be removed since Holley has no way to control them. As for the fans and stuff you will just configure them in the Holley. We have an ICF for this already on our website you can use. The CCRM does stay and is fully functional. If you have further questions please don't hesitate to call our shop and we can talk you through the whole process. We are currently at PRI and will be back in the office on Monday.
Suppose you have a 95 302 straight out of a GT with none of the wiring and you’re putting it in a car that has none of the gt wiring. You plug this bad boy up and it runs?
I was wondering what firmware do you have to be running on your Terminator X ecu to run this 5 inch screen..
The minimum is v3 build 100.
Dude hold it until the options pop up lol
It’s kind of annoying as some systems you only need to hold for a second or two, this one is longer and slower to react. After using it a while I’ve gotten better use to it.
Speed is all im looking to add. I think this will be great
Should work perfect then
Do any you guys happen to have the 550-937F in stock ready to ship??
Anderson Ford does most likely.
Thank you both! Everything you guys help us regular guys with is very much appreciated!!
You are very welcome!
Thanks for info - When i switch to “ ford 5.0 “ and PWM. i noticed i then get an unassigned output “ IAC PWM “. i have an open spot to assign on output # 4. then am i suppose to run output number 4 to the IAC ? or is there another way Big thanks
Yes you do need to pin the PWM to Output 4. We should have covered that but was more focused on getting the car to idle than that piece.
@@mfkustoms - the IAC will still work even with out assigning the pin and i’m assuming output # 4 would go to iAC ? i’ve seen videos where guys simply change to the 5.0 IAC and Change to PWM and car actually runs and idles i would really like any more info about assigning pin and any rewriting needed thanks so much for info
@@foxbodyinnovations-fbi3927 you do need to assign the IAC to the Output or the IAC will NOT work. Output 4 is typically what Holley has it wired too unless it’s an old harness. If you want more information reach out to us via email and we’d be more than happy to go into detail. You can use the “Contact Us” on our website (www.mfkustoms.com) to send us a message.
@@mfkustoms - Thanks ! i sent you a message through your website
will we be burning one of the only 4 outputs on a terminator? if so, is there a work around for this? @@mfkustoms
Any info you guys are will to share please do👍
Will do!
Are the fan temperature setting you originally put in still work?
No, if you are doing a custom setting you need to set it how you want in the custom settings.
Do you have a kit for a 1996 Cobra 4.6 4 valve?
We have one in development, it’s in the final stage before production.
Just got around to installing my kit , hardest part was definitely getting the harness through the grommet lol
Yeah, its the longest/hardest part for sure.
Newbie to this but does the firmware or soft ware come free with it ? As in I can install it on my laptop to change everything or is that something I have to get extra ?
Yes it is free. You can go to Holley.com -> Support -> Fuel Injection -> Terminator X. Then down the latest version and mess around with it.
I need an ASD0 PCM, I don't care if you pulled the header off already, I can even use just as little as the ROM chip.
We’d recommend you reach out to us via email. Go to our website and use out Contact Us option. Send us that information and we can keep an eye out.
When making the changes and scaling the low dollar sensor should lap top be connected to terminator x or save it to sd then upload globe file?
You can do it either way. I prefer to use the laptop connected to the ECU, but you could do it via the SD Card.
Could you let me know what size bolts the case has? ive been needing to grab a bit to take mine apart but haven’t been able to find out what size it takes as everything ive seen seems to have normal or allen key screws instead of the hex like mine does.
Go to our website (www.mfkustoms.com) use the Contact Us and send us an e-mail. There are a few different sizes and need more information. Thanks.
Does this kit allow use of all the holley features? Works like they adapter isnt even there?
Correct, we utilize basically all the inputs and outputs to keep all the stock functionality (Fan Speeds/Air Conditioning) but also add in Flex Fuel (Sensor Required) and an Input setup for a secondary wideband.
Subscribed. Will be ordering when in stock. Any ideas on ETA?
We our waiting on one component from one vendor. They are saying they will ship on Monday. As soon as we get that, they will be in stock with 2-3 days.
Came across your channel do you build new harnesses for 96-98 cobra with cop conversion??
Not at this time but will be something we will eventually do.
dang i just found this, after finishing up my own conversion. do you guys have plans to do this for a 98 cobra on a terminator system?? I swapped over to COP style ignition too. just ended up using the included holley engine harness and making my own chassis harness.
We have the 96-98 version with our testers for the last few months. Everything is looking good on them. Hoping to have them available soon.
Nice stuff!! Do you have the way you pin the distributor and module without harness adapters
