Great episode! I currently reside outside of Atlanta. I visited DR in 2017 (Puerta Plata) and went back to DR this time (Punta Cana) in 2021 and absolutely fell in love with it. I loved the vibe, the over all feeling of being there I have since been there in 2022, 2023 and 2024. My husband and I have purchased a condo down there. And can’t wait to start our future down there. Hope to meet both of you one day

To provide some context to this video: Having lived in the Bavaro, Punta Cana Area for 15 years my daughter decided to purchase a retirement home me for me to be closer to her and my grandson. Whilst they were was abroad I was hospitalised with a form of non food related bacteria. My intestines were inflamed. I live in the community of Cocotal Golf & Country Club, where Bridget had put herself forward to manage the Home Owners Association of 9 townhouses. In the owners group chat, I explained that I had been hospitalised would someone be kind enough to take care of her cat i had no other family in the Dominican Republic (as mentioned they are temporarily abroad). One of the neighbours kindly responded and offered to feed the cat, another neighbour responded that they too had been hospitalised with a form of bacterial poisoning. Bridget did not extend any form of well wishes, or even a simple message to what is a fellow black female expat, hospitalised alone, English speaking, who lives 5 doors away. Not one word of support was offered. When I said we must have got sick from the pool, she said it could have been our cats. Cocotal said they had checked the pool and it was fine. I then ordered an independent testing of the shared pool and the report found the two types of bacteria in the pool. I sent the report to Bridget and she did not respond. I had to go to the director of Cocotal to have the pool drained and refilled. Another neighbour asked is the pool now safe to use. Bridget replied it was. The following day - Monday when the post was made - I asked Bridget in the group chat if she was sure it was safe as I had been told before it was when it in fact had bacteria. I asked for it to be re tested. Bridget replied she was a pool owner for 30 years and was not going to revisit the issue. I replied it would have to be revisited if there is an issue. Bridget proceeded to make this video where she has branded me and I quote "angry, hostile, mean, nasty, ugly, never a smile on her face" and that I am living in "misery". I will remind Bridget of Law 53-07 under the Penal Code of the Dominican Republic; specifically the definition of using an online platform as cyber bullying.

It is such a nice change to hear some positive comments about Dominican men. It is unfair to generalize about a whole country because some are too slick and looking for a way out.

The information and naivete coming from these ladies is compelling. There is alot of truth in their words. However they are still somewhat naive. Dominican culture ways and customs are as varied as the peoples skin complexion. The two places where ive experienced racism are 1. Santiago and 2. Near the Haitian border in barahona. Dark skin people are definitely singled out. It is also a totally different vibe in say piantini or naco where upper scale "whiter " Dominicans roam. One thing i will say that the Punta cana experience is so uniquely different than anywhere for black Americans because 1. Many Dominicans in punta cana are half hatian 2. Its the money basket for the country so hospitality is the name of the game. To really understand Dominican society u need to 1. Speak the language 2 know the history 3. Form intimate connections with locals from different class groups You will notice that the Dominicans with money tend to be half italian have german have whatever white tourists came and set up shop and you will see that those Dominicans 9 times out of 10 AINT dealing with u As a blk gay man who was married to a Dominican man for 10 years when Doma was overturned who also Speaks spanish and been coming here since 2006 yes there is racism in the DR but your greenback acts as a buffer to that and if we as black Americans limit our travel options based on racism then im sad to report you cant go nowhere including the U.S.A. Dominicans like all carribean/latin countries have a strong sense of pride and can even be kinda snooty but again its part of the culture. Racism in DR should not be a reason for you to cancel your vacation most people here are warm and welcoming and ive felt a freeness here that i have never felt in the united states. Dr is my second home

Thanks for showcasing! I purchased one of the units pre construction. This was the property that was delayed quite a bit because of Covid. I kept the faith and held on, 4.5 years later, I am doing my pre-delivery walkthrough. The community is great and my unit is so nice. Glad that I invested when I did, the equity on the property is significantly higher than my purchase price.
