“Long Live the West” is the first collaborative effort from Mountainwell and @BlueLineCo. Follow along as we quest across the American West looking for the trout that call Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah home.
With schedules aligned, locations set, and a stellar late fall weather window in front us, we set out on what we hope will be a week-long tail to end all western tails. We quickly learn that no amount of planning is enough to avoid the curve balls this incredible landscape will throw.

Great stuff, glad to see some great young folks making good content. Only thing I would mention is the old film overlay has been used way too much. Just my opinion and no way a bad thing.

I'm super impressed with that location for those browns in utah. Anyway, I could get a lead on that . I only fly fish, I've been at it since the 80s . Historically, the east walker in California used to be like that . Unfortunately, over the years, the fishery has suffered from a lack of healthy water flow and temperatures.
Happy to help man! That section is very well known for a super high population of browns per mile over in eastern utah. It'a tailwater underneath a giant reservoir in Utah & Wyoming! Hopefully that's helpful! I'd reccomend the A section (:

No reason to spend $1,000 on a rod. An expensive rod provides no value or advantage compared to a cheaper one, and it is devastating when they break (which they will).

I understand the first few days of fishing were tough, but did you need content so badly that you had to just absolutely start raping the redd in that last segment? Pretty weak.
We were fishing the Lower Green beneath Flaming Gorge in the last segment. This section has around 15,000 fish per mile. Normally, we steer clear of spawning fish, but river managers here encourage fishing during the time of year because of overpopulation issues. We weren't targeting redds by any means, just fishing in a very densely populated brown trout fishery late fall. This is a spot I enjoy fishing in year round! Hopefully that gives some context, appreciate you checking out the film man!
@@chasewalker1931I’m with you entirely on this Chase. It’s funny to me that the intro talks about “those super secret underground fly fishing guides.” When it’s a bunch of dudes going out and taking drone shots. Now, they do a good job of not burning spots for the most part, but I doubt it’s something locals ever appreciate. Then to blatantly attack redds calling it a success without any backstory included in the video as to why what they are doing (may be) okay in that specific situation, is downright irresponsible. It’s like the cover of American Angler magazine a few years back when that twat was caught fishing a closed section of water for spawning browns to make a magazine cover. This would have been the perfect video to make a point on the importance of conservation of some of these fisheries as well. I couldn’t help but wonder in the first half of the video if their lack of success was due to conditions, water levels, temps, overfishing, industry. And what an opportunity it could have been to stress some of those issues to grow a conservation mindset to the viewers. Instead we have “unsuccessful fishermen resort to redd raping Utah, driving more anglers to the states mentioned, only to complain in 5 -10 years about dead fisheries”. I’d like to make a point that it was a great video, with talented editing, and wicked shots and storytelling… I’m just so frustrated with content creators having a lack of care and insight into what they are promoting. It’s a growing industry, and there’s enough scientific articles out there to know what makes an impact. Let’s grow a respectable generation of anglers. Cheers

Three weeks ago we fished and elk hunted places between Landers and Jeffrey city Wyoming , those holes hold amazing large Brook trout all frozen over by now, have fun be safe and good luck...
