@@ZeeZedZee patience, young padawan 😂
I wonder if the "black berry and honey" are just an allusion to Black-Briar mead. Could be interesting to revisit this by combining San's spiced wine with Black-briar mead.
Cheers!
I’m a major fan of how you put yourself in Skyrim scenes. Very cool please continue.
Me too - adds a day or two to the production schedule (or more, depending on the complexity), but I think it's definitely worth it!
Careless cbat doots from the mountain tops (new shout learned)
"Huznu Lokaal Strunmah!" (Careless - Love - Mountain) Alternatively and apparently, "Silfo" or "Soul Frost" is also a term used in reference to unrequited love, since that's how it feels...
I started my first mead last week and also did not use hydrometer or anything fancy. Tastes good so far lol
Yeah I’m terrible at remembering to do it at the beginning of a brew, and without that initial measurement any additional ones taken later in the brew don’t tell you any useful info… I usually just base my guesstimate off of the stated alcohol tolerance of the particular yeast I’m using as a loose starting point for a ballpark ABV 😂
Any update on the 1 year aged? EDIT: Nevermind, I just can’t navigate RUclips apparently.
@@StephenByersJ I was just about to drop a link 😂 this year’s aged eggnog video coming soon!
i remember doing this quest whilst already being married to ysolda….
Yeah, that came up in the TikTok comments too 😳 Bethesda really should've coded some unique dialogue for the situation if that were the case, would've been really funny! In a way though, so is the fact that she has the same response either way 😂 guess she's just not the jealous type...
wait wtf this channel is tiny, im surprised
The fact that you've found your way here tells me we're making progress though 😂 I think it's mostly because the videos take a while to make as a solo operation, so the algorithm sort of forgets about it by the time the next one comes out. Hope you enjoy!
i binged on 3 of your videos, they are very entertaining! keep it up :)
you can ease the guild mission by doing the bee and barb last. she will simply pay up after hearing how it went on with the other two. also just fyi, ground cherries, and tomatillos are in the nightshade family and might add tartness. something to consider. the last one sounds a bit sweet to my pallet but also the best of three for lore.
Dang, now I feel bad for even using Brynjolf's advice to go through Talen to get to her 😂 it was a fun bit to edit though. Also I agree, the chilis were interesting but I think it's worth exploring other nightshades in the future that might be an even more lore-accurate application and some tartness would certainly be welcome (it is arguably too sweet, I might suggest actually dialing back the amount of honey and possibly even the blackberries).
I thought the only way to ger Keerava to pay was to beat her up... now I feel like a terrible person
Pretty sure it took me a few playthroughs to figure it out myself - I think she's been holding a grudge and somehow knows it's still me even on other characters 💀 now I'm just a habitual "optional" quest section completer...
Forever a wench
I thought yall were gonna violate the damn goat 🐐
@@CrayMolina 😂 bit of a misdirect!
I don't believe I've watched your content before, but I quite liked you cutting in to make little comments. It was fun. But I generally liked all your edits. Can't wait to tune in again when I get wifi and can download more videos.
Appreciate the feedback and glad you found the video! The Elder Scrolls Mead series is really where we got started, but I've been having fun exploring other beverages and franchises too.
@quenchquestdrinks TES is definitely gonna be my favorite, but I can't wait to check out your other stuff, too!
How am I only just randomly finding you.
The channel is slowly being blessed by the algorithm gods I guess 😂 it's a weird sub-niche overlap of gaming, lore, comedy, commentary, greenscreen and beverages that I haven't really seen other people doing, but I guess that also means the algorithm doesn't really know who to suggest the videos to yet 💀 we're getting there though, glad you're here!
I actually think skooma bottles are glass filled ones are a shade of purple and empty ones are a shade of green meaning the actual liquid has a colour
Now that's interesting! Think I may need to revisit it in the future and do some additional research...
Not to sound like one of those people, but its gonna no mater what i just have an interest in toxicology and old/less traditional medicine, nightshade, hemlock, belladona, and such poisonous plants, in proper dosages actually have medicinal properties, such as in controlled doses nightshade and belladona can be used as sleep aids and immune system boosters, but as said it is very controlled doses based on the consumers bmi and weight, but a drink with nightshade could be craftable for mass consumption if it is crafted for the possibility of the smallest person to drink it
Thanks for the insight! I was thinking a way I could possibly sidestep the dangerous-ness of using the plant itself would be finding a safe, low-dose medicinal extract from it of some kind that I could incorporate somehow - not exactly a lore-friendly process, but then again Talen-Jei doesn't clarify how he was able to get "a touch of nightshade" and just assures us that it's "perfectly safe" so we can use that ambiguity to explain away just about anything here 😂
One guess for the addition of the night shade would be a sort of “feeling” you’d get from drinking it. Kinda like how they still leave a little bit of the dangerous bits in pufferfish to give you a little mouth tingle. Just a guess
I like it - the spiciness kind of contributes something to that effect, but I think I might be able to do better on a future iteration!
This is a good video. I don't even like alcoholic drinks and I loved it
Thanks! I try to make these videos fun beyond the drinks themselves with the relevant quests and lore...
Fun little fact, while deadly nightshade is, as the name implies, deadly. There is a species of nightshade called ‘black nightshade’ that looks similar to its deadly cousin but is in fact edible, particularly the leaves and berries.
I like this - might just have to revisit the drink next year sometime and skip the chilis for an even more lore-friendly nightshade like that one...
Ha ha. Milk Drinker
Was just talking about your channel this week and wondered "hmm, is a new video about to drop soon?" Must've felt it in my bones 🤣 As always, love the comparisons to other drink channels + adding your own lore-accurate version. If only Taste-o-Vision existed so that we could all sample these alongside Autumn! 🍷
Excellent premonition - someday I'll figure out how to send everyone a cocktail to taste alongside me 😂
Would definitely try all three cocktails, they all sound incredible.
They really are! 🥂
Keerava meanwhile, probably actually locked in a closet upstairs, shouting some very colourful things that are very bad for monetization. No way she'd willingly let you behind the counter.
Yeah, her "nice" reaction after all this is still "Oh, it's you. What in blazes do you want?" 😂
so in my opinion, as the nephew of a witch who has had the experience of eating Atropa Belladonna (aka deadly nightshade) they are a mildly sweet berry that makes you drowsy, safe to consume in very low amounts like maybe 3 berries max for a fully grown adult, and it would probably add a little more sweetness to the drinks, and make the consumer drowsy
Yeah, in my research I read somewhere that 8 berries was the ☠️ dose for an average adult man, but to be on the safer side I skipped it altogether... kept the video advertiser-friendly 😅 Might revisit the cocktail again sometime next year though to really hone in on an even better nightshade inclusion, as much as the pepper was an interesting addition it's only tangentially lore-friendly and I think I might be able to do better (this comment section has already given me some interesting ideas...)
I enjoy the editing clips also - fun style. Love the video as always, looking forward to more!
Thanks for the feedback - working on the next videos now!
Great editing! I personally am a fan of the little "Editing Nic" clips, makes it feel more interactive like we're watching and noting together. As long as they're not too long or add to the entertainment value with their own little skits, like when Lucien comes to visit around 7:37, they're great additions! Hope to see more in the future, glad the algorithm brought me here somehow
The algorithm is truly a fickle beast 🙃 thanks for the feedback and glad you appreciated those edits - it actually ends up being easier to do edits like that when I'm already greenscreened into the bar, but was a fun to figure out how to do it in the room instead! They might've been the most fun for me to make honestly (if somewhat time-consuming...)
Always get those amethysts for talen jei and keerava
It's truly mandatory
Fun Fact: Potato, Tomato and Chili Peppers are all nightshades.
Yeah - it was tricky trying to pick which IRL nightshade to use when making a real life version in the full video!
This This is what I was looking for
Glad I could provide 😂 enjoy!
I mean, we make food with poisons all the time. Peppers are spicy because they are literally trying to kill you
Peppers are actually in the Nightshade family, same as tomatoes and potatoes.
It's fascinating that plants developed all sorts of natural defenses against being consumed and then humans rock up and say, "ooh - that one hurts kinda good, think I'll take 15 more please"
New Elder Scrolls cookbook?! 😭
It's actually super good - it's given me some great ideas for editing that will draw inspiration from channels like Drewmora and FudgeMuppet...
Instructions unclear, im headed to kynesgorve after Ralof was talking about mead with junipers in it...
RIP Vilod, had a great future in meadmaking before Alduin rocked up...
I mean technically alcohol is a form of poison
Technically all intoxicants are poisons. They're simply poisons that won't necessarily kill us.
A tasty poison... 🍻
Tomato plants are in the nightshade family
What if Talen-Jei was actually just making a Bloody Mary with Spiced Wine... 😂
Little bit of lore about the Velvet LaChance it is a drink made by oregonians to get oregonians drunk if any other species were to drink that they would die of deadly nightshade poisoning
In that case, I think you'd like the full video - I dive into allll the lore rabbit holes before making a few different interpretations of the drink!
Delicious nightshade, my favourite flavor! Edit: Editing was above and beyond on this one!!!
Appreciate it! It was an unintentionally long process, but I think it was worth it...
Minus the nightshade, the velvet lechance sounds good, and im not a wine drinker
Basically a Double Sweetened and Double Spiced Wine, what's not to love!
Or just add black nightshade berries, those are edible
@IvanHryn i have never heard of nightshade berries, but they sound interesting
That "How to Drink" guy is a filthy n'wah outlander
this would be so fire for an alien character
@@patrickisdumb404 right???
I'd be interested to see what an older and fresher one is like when mixed? I've read about people doing that since it's a nice middle ground of alcohol in your face and more flavor
The amount of work put into this makes me feel like it deserves more attention. I'm not much of a nerdy type, but do brew my own meads and this seems like it is excellent. I personally have been contemplating a mead with a Islay Scotch peat flavor, but more bright and floweresk like a Speyside scotch or a traditional sweet mead. I'm going to impart my smoke through Lapsang Tea (Tea has deep pine smoke smell and flavor, with subtle smooth black tea tastes in the background). Might even bochet the honey too, but not decided. If you have any pointers or ideas on what i should put into it im totally open to ideas.
From someone who normally doesnt play any games Skyrim is a great game
That sounds like a super cool project! Making it a bochet will definitely add a darker, caramel-esque profile. Islay and Speyside are practically polar opposite ends of the scotch profile spectrum from smoky to sweet, but I think it could definitely be acheived! The tea's smokiness should kind of serve as a nod in Islay's direction without dominating the profile like adding a barrel stave from an Islay distillery might. If you're going for a sweet mead, definitely choose a yeast with a lower alcohol tolerance or use extra honey for higher ones! Also, thanks for the kind words - the channel's been slowly growing, I'm just happy people like the videos as much as I enjoy making them!
What does eso friendly mean?
@@trapdoorguppi Elder Scrolls Online! My full video explains in greater detail, but there’s a loose recipe for this drink in that game.
Lmao
The orc draught was made using chillie peppers, as that's pretty much all that grows in Mordor. Sam takes seeds from a chillie pepper plant back to the shire and grows them.
This topic did come up in my research on various forums mentioning it coming up in the Red Book of Westmarch - however, I couldn't find any direct references in JRR Tolkien's actual appendices or extended works produced by Christopher Tolkien, so I couldn't verify the "canon-icity" of chilis in Mordor and since the only direct reference to Orc-Draught comes from the Uruk-Hai of Isengard, it's also possible that it was an invention with Saruman's "Fires of Industry" (this would explain more advanced forms of distillation being invented). However, it is entirely possible I had a gap in my research! Do you know of any direct references from the Tolkien Estate that mention it? Also, in case you missed it - I mentioned this towards the end, but the God of War Blood Mead I recently made a video about actually looks and feels closer to a spicy invigorating brew that could potentially align better with the Orc-Draught as it is described / appears in The Two Towers adaptation!
Solid move going over to Jamaican rum, it should really make a difference bc there are huge differences between the rums from this countries. Soooooo, have you tried the Appleton 12 year? It might be a perfect combo between the 15 and signature. And it’s totally affordable so not the biggest lift. (How is the 15 year neat? I’ve not had it yet, but have had a bunch of the younger two.).
I haven't, but it's on my wishlist! The 15 is great neat, but it really leans into the "hogo" (haut goût) flavors (savory, funky notes like overripe banana, iodine, rubber, etc.); I think they're fun and interesting, but perhaps not what the aged eggnog requires... I'm working on a new Aged Eggnog experiment, should come out in November sometime!
You must have some real control over yourself to have drunken that and not destroyed that entire tavern from it effect lol
It took everything in me to hold back and not start smashing barrels and crates with the Blades of Chaos 😂
@@quenchquestdrinks Haha! Lookin' forward to your next video man! And, if you don't mind, I was wondering if you could tell me if it's possible to make a Nuka-Cola Wild or Sunset Sarsaparilla? Which is Fallout's Root Beer. If not, then what you suggest is the closest one can get to such a taste via IRL brands? A&W, MUG, Store Brands, etc?
Bruh'd Me'd? He dee'd!

Soo thats where the alcohol name comes from
Yep - I try to give some history with my tastings when I can! 🩸
Pretty cool. I haven't played the newer god of wars yet but they seem interesting
They are veryyy good (if you couldn’t tell by the fact I spent the first quarter of the video dissecting character psychologies)
