Is it a Wyze decision? see what I did there? A quick look at the WYZE Gun Safe

Final EP9 Configuration…kind of
Просмотров 22 тыс.3 года назад
I mainly wanted to re-record the video I originally did because that one sucked. This one is barely better but I just go over the parts I changed out on the ever evolving EP9 Please excuse the mixing up of ‘bolt’ and ‘buffer’ at the end, I have the sniffles and get confused easily. One note I forgot to mention regarding the Velocity trigger is I’ve been using the standard version and not the st...

@@comeoutandpla whats the facebook groups name? im having trouble finding it.
Do you have the Strike Industries Oppressor, or the Strike Industries Oppressor Lite? I see on their website that there are two different ones. The Lite is supposed to work with 9mm and the normal version (not Lite) doesn't have any information about being compatible with 9mm. I also checked Primary Arms website though, and it says that the normal version (not lite) is compatible with the Mini King Comp, but no mention of the calibers it is compatible with. The only reason I don't simply just buy the Lite version is because it seems to be out of stock everywhere online.
Does that mini king comp fit in the stock Mlok hand guard?
I can’t say for sure as I haven’t held the newest gen EP9, but seeing the pictures it doesn’t look so different that the comp shouldn’t work. As long as the barrel threads extend past the hand guard, it should work fine I would think
Hows that linear compensator working for ya? I just ordered the same 1for my ep9 but the 3 inch version. That looks like the 4.5 inch version. The shorter 1 was only available for 223 so im going to put it in the lathe and drill the center hole out so it wont baffle strike with 9mm
It worked pretty well. I have tried a few and they perform pretty much the same give or take. I did really like the Strike Industries Oppressor the most
@@comeoutandplaI finally got out yesterday and tried the new linear comp. Im not sure how much different it functions in comparison to this 1 since mine is just the 3 inch but wow did it it function amazingly! It sounded like half a silencer! Maybe because i only drilled the exit hole to 11 or 12mm. So it didn't leave much room for the gas to pass right through. Thanks for the video and I'm going to look up that safety and trigger now
This is awesome! But why wouldn’t you turn the water off in the background?
He was taking a leak....
I have that same ambi bolt catch, I just installed it on mine and am hesitant to keep it on, unless yours has continued to work fine? How does it hold up now?
Mine has held up through at least a couple thousand rounds

Will that comp and oppressor combo fit with the stock gen 2 handguard? Or do you have to have the aftermarket handguard too?
It would for the original. It just wouldn’t re a recessed as mine
Looks like a decent personal safe. Thanks for the video brother! 🤠👍
It’s a pretty good safe. I think it’s on sale too for like $135 which is about what I paid for a Hornady Rapid full size. Both have awesome springs on the doors
Do the velocity pcc triggers work in the ep9? I tried to install a PSA 3.5 AR match trigger... it fit but the hammer anti walk pin holes are off 1/32. The trigger face anti walk pin holes are flush. What are the known drop in triggers that work in the ep9 besides the velocity 3lb AR? Thank you sir.
Mine worked but could bump fire very easily so I ended up removing it. As for pins, the best option I found for the needed length were the Strike Industry anti walk pins. There just long enough to compensate for the extra width of the EP9 lower
@@comeoutandpla the hammer antiwalk pin (cmc) has enough length and the trigger antiwalk pin is a hair too long. I can bump that pin on my belt sander to take that tiny bit of length out. I used a pick on the end of the hammer pin (port side) and pulled the 1/32 while tapping it in the otherside. It's not a crazy amount of tension but I'm Not sure how i feel about running it like that. Edit: I have a cmc pcc 3.5 ar9 in now. Same 1/32 issue on Hammer pin (could be just my ep9 or cmc is making triggers for psa). I could polish the front of the drop in housing to fix it ...but A little 1/32 spring tension shouldn't hurt anything. It functions perfectly on snap caps. Ill report back when i get some range time in.
How hard was it to change out the buffer tube? I want to change mine but I'm afraid to try and take it apart.
It’s not difficult. Basically you have a screw in the QD cup in the rear and then there’s one under the part that is covering the upper receiver when it’s installed. Once you remove the upper, youll see it tucked up under there
WTF for... the EP 9 is a beauty in herself.... Keep her light and friendly... That is what she was designed for.... Just sayin...
I totally agree. This was more an exercise of how far I could customize it. At its base, it’s incredibly lightweight which is a huge plus. Had I bought the latest gen, I probably would have left at least the rail alone, but that original one just wasn’t great for my liking
I got a KAK carbine buffer extended 8 oz, is there anything else I need to purchase to make this compatible? I’ve been trying to read comments and listen to the video I can’t get a good understanding.
I’ve always had an Expo Arms 8.1oz buffer with just a normal carbine spring. The biggest thing to remember is that you cannot use the OEM buffer tube with a standard buffer weight. It will damage their tube because there are bumpers they use in the factory configuration. Without the bumper, the bolt will basically beat the back of the tube and crack it. So if you do go with a regular AR buffer weight, use a milspec buffer tube. It will require the Farrowtech buffer tube adapter or something similar because Extar uses a proprietary system and only accepts their buffer tube
Nice work.
Thank you!
Okay let me be clear, lol I don’t have the money you do for the upgrades. Dear lord this is the best looking EP9 I have ever seen. Now I am NOT concerned with conceal ability I rather a longer gun. I want to keep the existing buffer tube. I just want to add another Arm Brace Thant will give me some more space (length) . I do NOT care if it’s fixed. I need to add around 2-3” to the length to make the weapon more comfortable for me. I have long arms I guess. I have a ATI Bullpup and that gun is at 29” I think and that is short enough for me. Lol I can’t believe I am going to say this I will actually just buy a Hi Point Carbine for me and my boys to have fun with if I can’t get this gun longer
For the money you can’t beat that Hi Point carbine. Especially in 10mm
Looks into the sob brace. They seem to have a little more length are are available via extar. I prefer them to the fin or sba brace.
Dude that gun is badass but damn that’s a lot of extra money
It’s about 2.5 EP9’s worth 😂
Just ordered mine tonight. I like to customize and mix things up to see what does and doesn't work. I have a feeling quite a few of your suggestions will come to play in my design. Props brother!
It’s a pretty versatile platform. Just be cautious about the bolt and spring if you decide to alter them
Think I'll probably leave the bolt alone, but I'll probably go to that flat buffer spring after changing out the tube, buffer, and brace. All the rest sounds very solid!
Just curious, when you decided to change out the handguard, was that because you had the first gen guard?
Looking to pick one up and stoked to see our Flare hiding under the handguard! Always fun to see our products out in the wild. Great vid!
Do people like the gen 1 or gen 2 ep9 better, and why? : O
From what I’ve seen the Gen 2 has the better rail and I believe a new grip. But I haven’t handled one yet. It’s still the same price which is good if they did upgrade parts of the gen 1 design
First, I want to thank you for your video and showing the Radian Talon Ambi Safety Selector. I ordered one for my EP9 and it fits and functions perfectly without any modifications. Now I am thinking about getting the Phase 5 extended bolt release v3. Can you tell me if the last round bolt hold open still worked after you installed it? I am looking at a couple of other models as well. Thank you for any information you can give. Debbie
The phase 5 does allow the lrbho to function normally
@@comeoutandpla Thank you very much. 👍🙂
@@dbw843 no problem! And as I mentioned in the video, try to stick with the v2 or v3 levers as the clamp on or 2 piece levers won’t function at all.
I just bought the Radian Talon Ambi safety selector. Thank you. 🙂
Hello, I have a couple of questions for you. I hope you don't mind. As for the Radian Talon Ambi safety lever, I am assuming it is the regular ar size and not the one for the s&w m&p 15-22? I just want to be sure before I go and buy one. Besides the grittiness, did it fit properly (correct size) without any modifications needed? And lastly, I plan on using my EP9 suppressed for home defense, using Federal 147 grain HST. After you changed the Buffer tube and brace, did your EP9 have any reliability issues? Did you shoot any 147 grain ammo through it? And have you shot it suppressed? Thank you very much for any information you can give me. Debbie
First for the safety…I used the standard version of the safety and it just took some breaking in but not a lot. Second, with the buffer I have set up I’ve only shot 150 syntech through it and it ran great. And the trigger I have allows for very rapid fire and to this point I haven’t experienced any malfunctions. As always, your mileage may vary….but I would assume 147 grain should be good to go. The only variable would be how your EP9 handles hollow points. I know mine has run a small number of HST’s well, but it hates the sig vcrowns. So as long as you’ve tested the federal for feeding, I think you’d be good to go running them suppressed assuming you have a similar buffer system as mine. Maybe even stock buffer as well, I just haven’t tested anything suppressed with extars spring and buffer weight
Thank you so much for your very quick and detailed response. I'm trying to read the reviews on that ambi safety to see if it is reversible. I shoot left-handed. I am right-handed but I am left eye dominant. So I shoot all long guns left-handed. I just got my EP9 about 3 or 4 days ago. Lol I have not had a chance to shoot it yet but I already had the can and the ammo. I just need to take it out to the range and see how reliable it is. I have the Gen 2 of course, and I don't really like the little blade brace that came with it. I want something that I can adjust and something that will have a QD mount on it. I'm just afraid that if I change it out it would change the felt recoil and reliability. Thank you again for your quick response. Debbie
Will a binary or echo trigger fit in the trigger space?
I don’t know about the Fostech but I’m almost certain the Franklin armory has worked. Check for videos tho or even the Facebook or Reddit groups
@@comeoutandpla Thanks I have been lookin at one of these for a few months now. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet?
@@Slaughterhouse_Floor is say for the money, it’s a hell of a deal. Probably one of my favorite guns I own. It’s super lightweight, very minimal felt recoil and it’s super reliable.
Cool vid . I just got the EP9. What iron sights and optic are those?
The red dot is the bushnell rx100 I believe. It’s their $99 optic and it’s decent for the price. No frills like shake awake, but it holds zero. The flip up sights are Midwest industries or Troy barrel sights (I don’t recall) and they are the low profile HK style. The standard version of these sights for like AR’s are too tall in my opinion for this platform
Oh, and welcome to the family!
I really like how you outfitted your gen 1 Extrar. It's outfitted better than the Gen 2 in my opinion. Thankfully many of these accessories can easily be prined.
Thank you
I haven’t looked into the gym to a whole lot but I did notice that they put a much better handguard on it
The Oppressor?
Yup, it’s a compensator from strike industries
I ordered that same hand guard from ep aftermarket website over a week ago but have not heard anything back from them since ordering. How long was it before they shipped yours out? They won't even respond to my emails.
Mine took a little bit but that was when he first came out with them and production was slow. I’d reach out to them and maybe see if they are behind
Did you purchase the Velocity stainless steel shim to go underneath the new trigger to protect the polymer lower?
I did not because it raised the trigger body too far. Sounds weird i know….but it couldn’t install with the plate
@@comeoutandpla thanks for the info.
It was advertised at a shot show
I’ve heard rumors but I’ve also heard rumors of the 10mm Extar for a few years now
Where's the Extar 9mm without buffer tube
does the frt seem to work?
I don’t have a FRT but from what I’ve been told, the 9mm bolt isn’t compatible
Just read on RUclips comment section right now where somewhere on another video says he Asked Extar about the plastic buffer retainer and they DO NOT RECOMMEND replacing with ZR steel one. Said that the plastic buffer retainer is Designed to be a failure point Which saves polymer frame from any damage if there’s a failure. Moving to steel makes frame new weak point. Curious to others thoughts on this?
Technically you’re attaching a milspec tube to the farrowtech adapter so that’s still a point of failure before you get to the frame. I know Extar is super against anything that modifies the design and I get why. But I also think they would benefit working with those modding the design and make it as safe as allowable 🤷♂️
Unless you are referring to just replacing the buffer and using their tube. In which case, I would agree with them entirely. I don’t see any point to replacing the buffer if you are using they OEM tube
@@comeoutandpla just talking only about zr tactical retainer plate. Even with proprietary buffer.
@@clinteastwood666 I got you. Then yes that advice from them would be valid in theory
@@comeoutandpla this is exactly what I read from another users comment just want to share insight with the community. “I asked Extar about the plastic buffer retainer they DO NOT RECOMMEND replacing with steel ZR. ( Rip off of over 20$ anyways for small steel part anyways ). Plastic buffer retainer is designed to be a failure point which saves your polymer frame from any damage if there is a failure. Moving to steel makes polymer frame new weak point. Only time plate is under pressure is when frame is disassembled. It is not under any pressure when assembled because bolt rides slightly inside the tube depressing buffer and spring slightly. Your preference? But Extar should send out new plastic buffer retainers upon request supposedly. “ Thanks for responding btw
How about the buffer? Did you switch that out for a different one?
I switched the buffer to an expo arms 8oz buffer. I know I kept saying bolt for some reason, but i meant buffer. You cant keep the OEM buffer when you use a milspec tube because of the fact that the Extar buffer has a plastic shell on it and their tube had a pad or some type of cushion for it to bounce against. With the milspec tube, the plastic on their buffer will crack. There are a few examples in the FB EP9 group of people finding that out the hard way. I would recommend a PCC style buffer. I have heard people having success with as low as 6oz, but the OEM buffer is about 7.5 so I wanted to stay close to that number which is why I chose the 8oz one
This is the coolest ep9 I have seen. Nice job
Thank you very much. I really like how it all came together.
@@comeoutandpla No problem man. I've have my eye on one of these for quite a few years now. Just haven't "pulled the trigger" on it yet. Mostly because I want it to look more like an AR9. And I think you've done exactly that.
For your BAD lever was that a screw or push pin holding the original bolt release? Did you reuse the factory screw or pin? I have tried several different allen/hex wrenches that fit into the screw/pin but will not turn. Appreciate your help and your videos.
It’s a pin and I’m pretty sure I just reused the original one. As for screw in, the only receiver I’ve don’t that with is the aero m4e1 that has the set screw by design. Not sure what size it is or what you’d need but if the EP9 is built around mil spec parts, maybe see if there’s a place to get the set screw aero uses or at least get the size they use
Can a light or laser be attached to the handguard? Love the build 🥶
If it’s mlok or get a pic rail from Magpul or the like that mounts to mlok

Any suggestions for any compatible folding stock?
You could try the law folder or sylvan arms but I’d have no idea if it’s compatible with the farrowtech adapter
