Hey Andrew. A very enjoyable 10 minutes. You can only work with what you have got. Still pulled some great shots out of the trip. At least it shows that photography is conditional and dependent on weather a lot of the time. Have you had snow up your way this week?. Glad to see the 17-40 lens being used. I think it is very under rated! My Canon 24-105 packed up. Given that I have the Canon70-200 f4 L, I was thinking about getting a Canon 24-70 f4 IS L to go with it. Having those two and my 17-40 f4, it would cover all the main focal lengths that I like to use. Have you ever used the 24-70 f4 ? Looking forward to watching your up coming wintery videos. 😁
@@antonyhalls5322 Hi Antony. No snow but it's been very cold. Yes I was supprised using the 17-40mm but it was the only was to get the tree against the sky. Did the aperture on the 24-105mm go. I had to have mine repaired years ago. Never used the 24-70mm but I heard it's has a good reputation. Dreaming of a white christmas 🌨️🥶🎅
@@andrewfindlayphoto Hi Andrew. The optics themselves went wrong. It was not worth getting it repaired. I hope to get the 24-70 just to have a change. Will let you know if I get one and how it performs. Take care. 😊
this is hands down the most intelligent photography video watched He connected all the dots!

I've just donned my anorak so that I can tell you that the aircraft is not a Hercules but an Airbus A400M Atlas. The RAF have replaced all of their Fat Alberts with these more modern aircraft. Anorak now back in the wardrobe😝. Another very enjoyable glimpse into your travels with a camera around the top end of England!
@@stevesparkesPhotography Thanks for watching and the correction. I'll correct my memory banks with this useful info 👍🤔✈️😆
Great video and images (apart from the ai sky replacement.. ban for that 🤣) I know you're normally in & around the Lakes and rightfully so but you can't beat a bit of Yorkshireness, for some reason I can't I find a Yorkshire pudding emoji 😮😂
@@76ad Ai Sky replacement beyond the pale 🤣. It might have been Cumbria or Northumberland. It was so close to the border I can't remember. No one was trying to get across for a 'wetter life'(higher rainfall) . Thanks for the great comment. 🙂
@andrewfindlayphoto As soon as I hit the reply button I remembered my county has shrunk a little over the years but it was Lancashire that "stole" some of it and not Cumbria or Northumberland... 🤣 I only recently found out that Ribblehead Viaduct has a Lancashire post code too and that Middlesbrough is in some kind of limbo stuck between the North Yorkshire Moors border and Tyne & Wear 🤯 Back to geography class for me, I hear they have a dunce hat with my initials on it 🥳
Thanks for another lovely video. Beautiful scenery and light. Well done 😊
@@sharonsharp4902 Thanks Sharon 😁
I recognised that opening scene straight away. Probably because I use the road almost daily. Then I recognised you. Longer hair though. Used to see you regularly shooting the steam outside Armathwaite
Yes that's me. I confess I'm an 'Anorak'.
Brilliant as ever, Andrew. The first composition is an amazing find. The graduation of the trees within the same line of angle to the farm buildings is an epic spot. Your colour variation is so reminiscent of Kodak camera film. Tough conditions to work with wind wise. Looking forward to seeing some real autumn colours in your upcoming videos. 😊
I have passed that barn on many occasion but the light was always wrong. So I lucked out this time. There are probably more compositions on this subject but I needed more time and access. I was going for Kodak Gold developed and printed at Boots for that extra over printed exposure and soft focus. 🤣
Beautyful how you captured the Oktober Atmosphere. In the beginning really good Effekt, did you used a slider? And i like the sound from your movies. Thank you for sharing.😊

Something a little different. I like it. It’s a bit counterintuitive to put your camera gear under water despite, in this case, being the right tool for the job! But the results are fascinating.

Same; I switched to Linux a few years ago and never looked back.
It’s a bit like the way authorities responded to covid and most people just complied with the useless constrictions and medical interventions they were put under. Those that dared ask the inconvenient questions were shut out and lost their jobs. Compliance is the order of the day. Many still seems to be preferring the perceived comforts of old habits rather than a willingness to shed the stale and lifeless for the new and fresh.
bye!
Is there a chance that you will be getting together with Jimmy Page for one final show?

I have no problem with technical advances. I do have a problem with monopolies. They should be required to divest themselves of the lock they have on market share. It is typical to seed educational institutions with free software which creates the market for users right out of school, and also locks in the teachers. They are taking thievery to a whole new level these days. Orwellian Fck's
You mean before Canon lost its way as regards build quality, the bodies that they are coming out with now are nothing short of scandalous for the price that hard working photographers have to pay for.
@@b.2221 At my age you don't get to fondle a younger Canon very often so I haven't really noticed. So I guess you're right. Everything seems to be be made for a high turnover, just to keep us upgrading and spending more than we need to.
I bought the 5D not that long after it came out, iirc I got it in 2006, paid EUR 2300,- after cash back. This year I bought an R6, paid EUR 1300,- after cash back. Granted, the R6 was already replaced by the R6 mkII, but at that price new it was IMO quite a bargain. The R6 is a completely different experience, especially in terms of AF, including EF lenses (add the cost of the adapter). If you take into account inflation the 5D was more expensive than R6, even on release. R5 is another story, but these cameras are not comparable anymore. A couple of years ago I bought another used 5D, mint condition at EUR 130,- which is a steal, imo. The only feature I really miss, besides a back focus button is AF adjust - the reason why I replaced my original 5D, tired of sending in lenses for recalibration. The 17-40L was one of my first zooms, never really used it that much, good value for money though, although today I would recommend a 16-35/4 IS instead, if you can afford the difference. If you are not picky (pixel peeping etc) there is hardly any bad gear, just buy what you can afford and enjoy. Especially used you can get some real bargains.
This camera isn’t built great either and the ergonomics aren’t good. I love the photos but it’s not an exactly a joy to use like my Nikon d200. I’m sure that canons pro bodies were better but to claim this thing is built well just isn’t true. It’s cheap plastic crap too..
Time to say goodbye to Adobe. There are alternatives.
I still have mine, had two for a while. While I have a 6D for astro work, the 5 is the digital equivalent of a K1000. It's a tank, and everything that comes out of it looks like film. It really is an amazing camera!
This is a great video. I truly appreciate your in-depth yet normal human discussion of how to do things. Lol. I have a 5D Mark 3 but you may have convinced me to shop around for a cheap 5D Mark 1 strictly for infrared work since I like to shoot so much outdoors. I'm sure I could get a lot of good heat register and infrared shots in Texas. Lol
Thanks Tim. Sounds like a good idea. I suspect that the native plants in Texas should be good for IR. Although I find that the fresh early summer foliage is the best but some trees look the same later on in B & W with or without the IR filter. Hope you find a good 5D. Check the mirror!
My first digital camera, my mirror fell off, I simply glued it back on ,and even bought a second one cheap with the same problem and glued that one on as well , I got some beautiful results, thanks for the video
When/if Affinity gets bigger, I hope they don't get injected with Adobe DNA and become the thing they oppose
