I get chills every time I watch these tutties
I like going for the win but dang I think I would have come back with the option to the wide side of the field again. Definitely one of the Top 5 games of all time.
Man, he's asking a lot of that left guard to get his ass to pull all the way around to the right on that 4th and 8. Even after all those years, the 1995 game against Colorado. Several players tell the same story. Osborne tells the players, andcthey practice it, he came up with a new way to block a particular version of the option they run...and it will go for a touchdown on the first play, just watch. This from a man so low key and the opposite of boastful......RUNNING THE BALL. !! Ahman Green. 1st play. Crazy
What play do you call on 4th and 8. ? The option, of course😂😂😂 I grew up in a village in Nebraska in the '80s with a K-8 grade schol of about 30 kids. We had an 8 man flag football team, played a few other schools. We all ran around and mimicked what we saw so much, when i was in 5th or 6th grade, we all went to our coach and convinced him to switch from split halfbacks to the I formation, and run the option. I have to say, for kids, we were pretty damn good at it, the timing, getting out there wide like Jeff Smith on that play, pitch height, I played both I back and QB during my years. All of us had the aspects of running the option down pat right away, like a well oiled old White sewing machine. Good memories. And no CTE
Watched it as a young kid just outside of LIncoln Nebraska on our farm. It sucked. It happened so fast and the emotion of the room was just sucked out. I always think about if it would've worked. Nebraska would have won the National Championship on a pass. It was so Tom Osbourne to pull something like that. Tom was a treasure to the game.
In to days game he wold have kick the field goal and went into overtime. I was in high school and watched that game. Right call by Osbourne.
Truly incredible that college football was innovative enough to have the two point conversion (which the NFL did not use until 1994), but didn’t have Overtime? It would take until 1996 to finally use Overtime.
Glad FSU got jobbed out of the playoffs, eff them, this was a robbery
Brian Carpenter was very fast. 4.33 and supposedly had run 4.28 or under in Junior college. He was also the fastest player on the team in 1989 in the Electronic 10 yard dash during Winter Conditioning. You can see him blowing away from the Colorado secondary.
The Meeeshigan NEB game brought me here
Ridiculous.
The corner #12 for Miami was totally confused and then didn’t even want to touch Frazier lol.
You can't see it because it didn't happen. College Football couldn't handle Florida State losing to Nebraska, so they stole it from us.

I could watch Eriksons reaction all day…
Yeah, Tom, smile!
The refs were totally in the bag for Bobby Bowden that year.
In that 4th quarter Nebraska just kept landing body blow after body blow with that option attack. It was a beautiful thing to watch. That was the smoothest handoff/dive to the fullback I've ever seen!
..man. SF put a crunch on.
Pretty ballsy to run option on 4th and 8
One of 2 awful calls that gave the game and national championship to Free Shoes University.
That drop by Fryer was pathetic lol

"Real men go for two." Literally what my dad told me while I was growing up. It was a metaphor obviously but the older you got growing up in Nebraska. The more it made sense. I still say that to my children.
Smart men take the tie and earn the fukin' natty. Your dad sounds like an idiot.
Although they lost, that was one of the gutsiest calls in the history of college sports.
Wow! To be able to see this, as a 10-year-old, and have certain plays stay with me...remarkable!
Neb should have won it.It could have been a 3 peat.
If this scenario could exist today (which it can't due to overtime and the CFP, obviously), I can't imagine there is a single coach out there who would not kick the point, win the national title at 12-0-1 and collect his million dollar contract bonus or whatever for winning the championship. The world is an entirely different place today, and not for the better. Though I do think the playoff is better than the bowl system with conference obligations and only the occasional chance of a #1 vs. #2 matchup at the end.
the gutsiest call in the history of college football
Sure would’ve been good if you shared the score of this gm. Bcuz I’m not going to Google it. Damn 😒
That was a weird looking drop by 21
It was tipped
I remember when Nebraska was a force to be reckoned with, that makes me old.
Earned INSANE respect for Tom Osborne after this game.
Too bad Fryar had money on the game....
Corey is a good friend of mine and High School classmate. Its the only time I ever rooted against him because I'm an FSU fan and Corey and I both have a friend who was an All American corner on that FSU team in the same game...Clifton Abraham...Cliff and Corey played youth football against each other 😁
I'm a Miami alum, was there during the 80s dynasty. Mad, mad respect to Coach Osborne. GO BIG RED.
I love Warren Sapp, great great defensive tackle but that clip of him walking off the field tells you everything about that game, Miami got thier asses WHIPPED!!!
Osborne doesn't get enough heat for that boneheaded play call. Miami had a loss, so if he just kicks the extra point, Nebraska wins the title for sure. But he tried to have his cake and eat it too.
You mean he would have won by being a p*ssy? No, that's not being a champion.
@@zoso73 Yeah, bro, running a speed option on 4th and 8 is "being a pussy". Actually, a tie would have clinched the national championship, so he was in fact being a pussy by trying to go for 2.
One of the best play calls in college football. They didn't walk away with a win, but they left it all on the field.
I was @ this game Dipped on Ed Reed tough #gbr
With 2:46 left, everyone watching felt the game was over. That's how the game has changed, down 7 with 2:46 left, teams can score more than once in that amount of time.
What’s surprising after watching this years later is that the play was designed to throw to the running back and not a tight end. I clearly don’t understand why he called that particular play especially in that situation.
Like it was yesterday! Still makes my stomach drop like a rock.🏈
irving fryar threw that ball on the ground
The art of strategy book bought me here
Had OU Coach Barry Switzer not resigned, Dr. Tom Osbourne would not have 3 national championships.
Pat Dye disagrees with the decision, but then again he didn't have the onions of Tom Osborne.
0:17 The most obvious deliberately dropped pass you'll ever see. Followed by the delayed-reaction obligatory histrionics feigning disappointment.
Horribly officiated game
Y’all that was Ed Reed he’s no chump
