Is there a reason to use this app over Monitor & Cntrl app?

Why does it have such a low rating on the App Store? 3.2 out of 5 are there some current hiccups with the app?

The most important thing I really need to know is what is the real and actual crop factor in 4k DCI 24fps, 4k 60, 4k 120, & 1080p 240. I know most Sony data says 1.5 with an aditional 1.56 which makes 2.34 crop factor yet on other sites they say 1.5 with an aditional 1.04 making 1.56. So is Sony wrong about their own camera. For those that don't know why, when you need to buy a lense for a specific space with specific field of view and you buy based on one crop factor then realize it doesn't work and lenses are expensive. How do we get camera manufacturers to just list the total crop factor for each video setting since with all the information it does seem these you won't be able to tell which lense you need until you can test it out.

Agree! I have the FX30 and I LOVE IT! It's an awesome camera. Mostly using it with the Sony 16-55mm F2.8 lens and the ECM-M1 mic.

lumix s9 can do full frame 4k 6k 10 bit , stabilization over the mountain- no point in fx3

This clip doesn't need a second and third camera. Pick a camera, look down the barrel of the lens, and talk to it.

does the crop factor Still apply if use apsc lens on this FX30?

As a low budget peruvian video maker, this camera gave me the confidence I needed for getting better and better clients. I started a few years ago with a small Nikon (that actually I couldn't accept decent jobs only very small budget, my job at that time was like 85/90% editing), then changed it for a Sony a6400 wich let me work with more exigent productions, at least I coud pass to 50/50 camera and editing. A year latter I purchased the FX30, and my friend I couldn't be prouder of that desition, now I'm chassing better budgets proyects, my clients are all stisfied with their videos and OF COURSE the next speto (in camera body terms) is the FX3 (maybe MarkII?) when I have the opportunity.

Very informative, Sony has announced a firmware update around Sep 2025. I believe Sony will not release a new FX4 anytime soon.

FX30 is a killer camera for production companies on tight budget. I have the A7SIII + A7Rv, but for streaming I can't trust A7Rv and it's mostly for photos.

Never use DJI POCKET 3's D-Log for grading, otherwise every video you make will have extreme color distortion, especially the color of the sky, which is as ugly as it gets. Take a closer look at your video!

Once Sony start helping FX3 users who have had their camera totally bricked by their firmware updates, then I might consider buying sony products again. Until then, I'm stopping all further purchases of Sony kit till they sort their BS out.

I would say it is NOT a beginner’s camera, I have been a professional for over 25 years and use it as an A cam and love it. Even more than my FX3 which I sold 2 years ago.

Crop in 4k only in high framerates. Also 26 mp photo.

I have bmpcc6k and maybe braw and colours makes it cinematic, what makes fx30 “cinema”? Is it better then a73,a74 etc? I really want something smaller but can’t find nothing similar to bmpcc…

Still making money with my Fx30 and I have 2 of them. Nothing wrong with the camera. Its about the the story and happy clients.
