Drawstring BackPack Sewing Tutorial
I hope you enjoy my tutorial. Here are dimensions for each of the pieces you will need
- two pieces measuring 17X 15” for the body
- two pieces measuring 17x15” for the lining
- two pieces measuring 15x3” for the top channel
- two pieces measuring 9x3” for the side tabs
- for the pocket you will need two pieces, one measuring 8x2” and 8x7”
- 7” zip (if using longer zip attach your first side tab and then measure 6” from it - that will be your stitch line for the second tab; please note you can only trim nylon zips).
- 2 pieces measuring 2x4” for the zipper tabs
For the string I like to repurpose old t-shirt but you can use cord or t-shirt yarn or sew two straps that are 80” long.

Thank you for this review. I have been considering purchasing the pattern to make a pair in linen as I wear pants all the time but find it exhausting purchasing a good fit for my shape. I have not seen in a while so need to set my mind frame back to sewing as I love to knit and crochet and find it easier to just pick up a project 🫶🏿

I have saved some broken tape measures from us building our house...now I have a good pattern from you. Thanks so much! I suggest sewing a few lines of stitching across the cotton batting (wadding) due to the cotton batting will bunch up if not sewn down at close intervals. That will "quilt" it and add texture and interest to the final look

Hi Joanna. I’m in the middle of sewing the Kika dress and have got stuck with the pockets 😥. Do you know if there is sewing tutorial anywhere as to how to attach them please? I seem to have a brain block with it and don’t know where to turn!

What width was your tape measure? Mine is an 1" wide so I could not get it in the tape casing. : (

Brilliant what a good way to do a glasses case
Great tutorial and pattern. I had used another one and was not at all happy. This hides all the seams and gives a totally finished and professional look. Your explanation was clear and the video was helpful. I do not follow videos very well, so I took photos along the way.
