Custom Ducati 900SS exhaust wrap up! Hanger brackets, spring clamps!
Просмотров 9343 года назад
In this video I make the brackets to hang the exhaust, spring clamps to hold the slip fits and test fit it all together! This 2-1 exhaust is made from over 80 pieces of pie cut stainless steel, 400 inches of linear welding, and over 40 hours of fabrication time. It's for a 2001 Ducati 750/900 supersport.
Stainless steel exhaust TIG weld out! Ducati 900SS custom motorcycle exhaust pt 4!
Просмотров 2 тыс.3 года назад
In this episode I fully weld out the stainless steel custom exhaust for my Ducati Super Sport custom motorcycle using a Miller Tig welder with a 100% argon back purge. Total welding is ~80 individual pieces of pie cut tubing for about ~400 linear feet around each circumference. iirc my settings were: 1.5" 16ga stainless steel tubing 90 amps pulse with 60 background amps 25SCFM 3/32" tungsten wi...

Machining a brake caliper retainer on a Grizzly 10x22 lathe
I would have been well chuffed with myself making those! Fantastic end result, well done..
600 th subscriber congrats
nice work. Latst one I madae was maybe 30 plus years ago. I need one with adjustable offset sleeves, but nonobdy had one for my bike. I drew them out in autocadd then cam so then made them on the mills and lathe for the stem. Glad to see someone doing this. Keep up the good work.
Please share the dimensions and design of the clamp
What waas the Alu you used ?
Yes, you should be happy! 😊 Nive work 👍
May I ask front forks are from and what mods have you undertaken to fit them to the 900SS frame? thank you
They are from a Triumph Daytona 675r. They actually slide right into the stock SS triple clamps. To make the Ducati wheel fit I ordered bearings that have the correct diameter for the Triumph axle, machined custom spacers to center the wheel, custom spacers to offset the discs to be centered in the caliper, and custom spacers to offset the calipers to fit the bigger Ducati disks.
Great job making this part without CNC
Love it !
Do you have a video of doing the 3 d printed version and how or what software u used to draw the trees out on thank I have a buddy that has a 3 d printer but it’s all new to us any help would be great awesome work Chris
Nice vids. How have the parts gone? Any issues? Any useful experiences?
Just fine. No issues. They’re overbuilt if anything.
This was very inspiring. Great to see the ambition and do this yourself. What you learned is arguably more valuable than being done with CNC. Awesome!
Awesome work 🎉
I've really enjoyed watching this. Not much custom milling stuff online. Thanks for spending the time to document your process. I'm interested in milling my own triple clamps. Legend
Awesome!
Came out great! Kuddos
You could have predrilled the 1/8" radius's or another tip is you could plunge with the endmill since the endmill is more rigid on the z axis. I did that to add grip around the outside diameter of a knob and the surface finish came out perfect with no chatter or deflection on all 16 little half radius's cut around the knob. Also great manual mill work! the part came out great! I'm going to be using a slitting saw to make post clamps today which is why I watched your video.
That’s the 821 monster 1200 header
Please, where can I find the drawing for the upper triple tree on the GSX-S 1000 2016 and GSX-R 1000 2009 ? Thanks
No idea. Much of the work in making this part was accurately measuring the stock part.
@@chris-builds Well thank you. Which dimensions are needed? Do you have a drawing for inspiration?
Man it looks great. So much time into it. Looks like it all paid off
Whoa! I came in way after your last video looking for info on machining triple clamps. Wasn't sure I'd see an update, so it's really cool to see that you've finished the bike! It looks great and sounds awesome. Really enjoyed the build series.
Very Nice work young man on the HUMAN & the Ducati :<)
I had lost all hope to see another video, great work!!
Amazing build Try to heat anodize the stainless exhaust You can make it look pretty much like titanium
Love how it’s turned out Chris! Do you know how much it now weighs?
Not exactly. I’d guess right around 390 lbs.
Very cool, great job on the video showing off the excellent build. Congratulations on becoming a father and getting the project ride-able. Look forward to any video you shoot next
Dude, I am so excited to watch this later today. I am stoked you were able to finish it!
Hey man! No new videos?
Hoping to have a new video next week!
Hey Chris, how is the build coming? I love your videos. One of my top gotos for touching on my interests in modifying motorcycles and machining.
Hi Matthew! It's done! Just haven't had time to make a video wrapping it up. New baby this year and youtube is one of the things that got dropped. I'll get to it eventually.
@@chris-builds Do you have a website/blog/facebook page with progress updates? Excited to see how it turned out! Builds like yours are a big motivator to get my in front of the lathe/mill/toolbox/ect. Also, congratulations on the baby!
@@MatthewMenze Nope, just chris builds on youtube and instagram.
Please material 6061 is sufficient for triple clamp?
Great Job! Thanks for sharing
So many skills. You deserve a million subs!
Post some more vids bro. I need a custom exhaust for my dirt tracker Kawasaki. You near Georgia? I'm going to pay someone. I can't weld and I'm too old to learn frankly. I know exactly what I want it to look like though.
Like and subscribe so RUclips ranks me higher. My pace has slowed on RUclips because it’s such a hustle to get views. If I were to do this for someone I’d charge a small fortune. This exhaust probably took 40+ hours!
@@chris-builds didn't realize it took that long. Pretty sure I'm already subscribed. It takes a while to get views I've fallowed small build channels. Have a nice rendering of your bike goal maybe that looks super good and post more often. Idk. Good luck.
Great work! What mill do you have?
It's a grizzly G0704
Great work once again 😃
Really nice looking exhaust. I love the way it fits around the engine 😊
Thanks! Hope to see some RGV content on your channel!!!
nice work Chris
Nice work and as allways good soundtrack :)
Very impressed! Are you a self taught machinist or did you take some courses at a local community college? Thanks for sharing
Self taught, some shop class in high school but that's about it.
Hi Chris can I have the f3d file of your fusion design
Wow absolutely amazing job just loved it cheers mate
I can’t wait to hear this thing start
a pleasure to watch, top work chris
Hi Chris, love your videos 👍 I'm just about to have a go at making a pair of triples trees, can I ask what speed do you find best for aluminium? Cheers Stu
Depends entirely on the operation. For boring those holes I was using 2-300 rpm. For smaller stuff like the chamfers, as fast as the machine can go.
Thanks, that's helpful
Great, was always wondering what to do with these big Chinese hobby mills. Great application and positive vid
Bike is looking gorgeous. Nice work dude.
Nice work. What's your technique for transferring the hole spacing perfectly from the bike to your fusion design? For me it's never easy so 'll 3D print the prototype to test fit on the bike before machining in Aluminum just so that I know the holes will line up perfectly.
I just measured with a caliper. Metric bikes tend to be sane round numbers in millimeters. The bolt holes are on a flat plane too so it’s easy.
@@chris-builds Gotcha. They turned out really nice.
Nice job.
