homestead winter update

A short homestead winter update. Had problems with my kerosene heater that it wouldn't retract down into the base to extinguish the flame so I waited until it was almost empty to set it outside. #serenityhavenhomestead #homesteadlife #homestead #homesteading #mountainmanoutdoors #farmlife

Luckily I no longer have to work in weather such as this as a paramedic unfortunately one of my friends also named Matt is working a 24shift in rural West Virginia Lincoln county. Lord Jesus be with all of our first responders and their families, they don't get the choice of sta...

Planted Winter Wheat
Просмотров 422 месяца назад
Got a small plot of hard winter wheat that will grow overwinter whenever temps are over 45°f it will grow some. I should have planted it at least 2 months ago but health and time dictated when I could get it done. #homestead #homesteading #homesteadlife #serenityhavenhomestead #farmlife #winterwheat #garden #mountainmanoutdoors #appalachianlife #gardening

You’re the first turner I’ve ever seen using a saw to part with. There’s got to be a reason that using a saw isn’t more common? Interesting.
@@markashlock9017 it's a very fine tooth saw and doesn't get the "chatter" that a cutoff chisel gets. But I don't always use it it's just another way I do it. Also it is a very inexpensive saw from harbor freight for about $5 or so.
👍
Yep it's snow
Looks like the harbor Freight lathe that I have. Nice work.
@@TheFretman2 it is, not the best but it works well
Looks good
Looks great buddy, God bless

More videos to come...
A minute or 2 after I finishing this video a red-tailed hawk flew in brushing my leg trying to get one of the girls. Luckily it missed but the girls scrambled for cover and one was under my oldest outbuilding for about 30 minutes
At 10lbs pressure the internal temperature of the canner is at 240°f at sea level to 2000 ft of elevation & you must add 1lb psi per 2000 ft of elevation
I like turning cedar. Good job.
@@kenvasko2285 thank you
Nice
I believe we actually have 15

Wow, evry huge! Look at the cucumbers. 1:28 gosh i love your trellis. And pumpkins. Oh yeah. Gosh, looks good. 4$ for a blue berry plant. cheep. Everthiing is way far along. Nice. Ill check back. Any problems with squash bugs on the pumpkins?
We are definitely going to find out
Hey Matt, i really like what you are doing with the pumpkins. Gosh, it all looks great. I bet the garden is loving the rain. Look at those eggs the chickens gave. Hey shadow. Enjoyed.
Yes it is Last year the pumpkins grew up on their own to cover the old coop that's finally gone. This year's batch is from those pumpkins which were volunteer pumpkins then also
Way kool. Interesting spot , I bet it grows stuff like crazy.
My dad grew up there when my dad was alive we would go there to have our family reunions
Hey Matt, it can take them a week or so to get settled In a new place before they begin to lay again. This is normal. 1:20, your place looks great. Well done! Carpenter. Gosh, you got a project going.
They are also 5 yrs old
Lovely place, the girls look happy. Having fun.
Bad 2 the bone! Brings back memories for me. 4 years old watching my gramps make wheels for toy trucks that held a potted plant in them. Thanks, I enjoyed it. This is relaxing to watch. ✌️
It is relaxing to do it
Looks like our flock. Crazy how close they appear.
❤
Useful skill.
Were these holders gifts?
Those plastic poles aren't real strong so I wouldn't put my pressure on it sideways. 😂
Compost pile was a great idea
That's cool that the mulch was dropped off.
Hey Matt, they liked that. Happy happy .
They all look happy and healthy.
Dem Dare chickens show looking good.
Merry Christmas! Praying for Nathaniel and for your gf 🙏

Thank you he's hanging in there
Just way kool, thanks 😊 catch that finger?
Nope just finger pointing for no reason
Just found your channel and your woodturning videos are really cool. You do great work. And your chickens and ducks are adorable! 🐓🦆
Thank you
Okay, way koo!
Thank you
I bet the tore that spaghetti . That's a good liking white rooster.
I have always wanted to grow a banana tree. Ill enjoying watching and learning from ya. Enjoyed.
In our area they are more ornamental than anything unless you have a permanent greenhouse. They grow tall but not bloom
Good looking chickens. They look happy.
They run for the feed wherever I toss it
Do you have to cover the banana trees in the winter?
They die back each winter and come back larger each year, they are more ornamental than food wise
Interesting, kool.project.
Thanks!
How long does it take to clean the area?
Depends, on several factors. We do have breeding pairs of hawks and they have perched on top of the coops/runs trying to figure out how to get in. So if I let them out I'm out there with them or close by
Thet are adorable! Subscribed😊
