I bought a 2006 1st Gen Tundra
The fate of my last truck was sad. I put in some good work on that girl and she was a good truck. So good that I got another one. A nicer one! A 2006 Tundra Limited Double Cab. I've had this truck for a while now and have a bunch of footage for it but have been slow to put the videos together.
The first order of business was to clean up this exterior. I clayed the paint and waxed it to add some protection. I also removed the tape-on rainguards. I like rainguards, just not these ones. Next, I changed the battery. The previous owner put in the wrong one and I was nearly left stranded a few times. I then refurbished the headlights, as they were fogged up from years of sunlight and driving.

Toyota Tundra Tailgate Latch Replacement
Просмотров 360Год назад

Winter Beater Maintenance - 2010 Toyota Matrix
Просмотров 9272 года назад
It's hard to get a decent deal on a truck these days, especially when all the used trucks in my area are rusted from winter driving. Because I needed a car quickly, I picked up this 2010 Toyota Matrix. It is not glamorous in any way, but for now, it is good on gas and reliable. It has a 5-speed manual transmission that feels like a bag of gravel, no cruise control, and heated mirrors lol. Anywa...
1st Gen Tundra Part 3 - Front End Refresh
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 года назад
I did quite a bit of work on the truck this past summer and fall. One of the biggest challenges on this vehicle has been the rust. For this reason, I made it my main goal to combat corrosion by painting many of the front suspension parts and using off-the-shelf rustproof to extend the life of the front end. You will see that half the challenge with rusted vehicles is the di-assembly, however, i...
1st Gen Tundra Part 2 - Installing New Speakers
Просмотров 28 тыс.3 года назад
When I first bought this truck, both front speakers were blown. Although I could still listen to music, it has bugged me since day one. I went for an inexpensive option and purchased some Hertz speakers for the front doors. I figured I may as well replace the rear speakers as well, even though they were still intact. I am no car audio guru but the end result is much better than before. The kits...
Buying a 1st Gen Toyota Tundra Pt 1 - Putting her on the Road
Просмотров 23 тыс.3 года назад
After looking for a while, I came across this 2005 Tundra with a solid frame and engine, despite having 160 000 miles on it. It needed some work to make it roadworthy, including bell cranks, rear brake cylinder, rear left axle seal, and two front lower ball joints. In order to save on repairs, I sourced all of the parts and attempted to do all the work myself. I succeeded in this except for the...

Here is a short video of my recent fishing trip to northern Ontario. There were far more fish than this video shows, but only a few were caught on camera. I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab 4X4 I bought New. 10 years ago I got a letter from Toyota about Frame rust. I brought my Truck To My Local Dealership where I bought the truck. They gave me a loaner Vehicle. The next morning I got a call From the dealership. They said that the frame Was Like Brand New and Didn't need a Frame. I told them I Am a mechanic and I always pressure washed the underside of the truck in the winter. They Said The mechanics were Impressed How Well the frame was and that they would spray the coating on the frame. I got the truck back . When I used the turn signals the relay cycled fast which means one of the lights is not working. When Checking They forgot to hook Up One of the wire harnesses . Also I checked and saw they scratched the cab of the truck when they reinstalled the bed of the truck which they removed to spray the coating on the frame. 2 years later the coating started pealing off and rust was on the frame which was not on the frame before they applied the coating. That was Proof they didn't clean the frame before applying the coating which sealed in any contamination that was on the frame before the coating. That Dealer Destroyed My Truck. Before Bringing The Truck To The Dealer The Frame Was Like New. I Should Never have Had That Recall Done. The Frame is All Rotted Now And Does NOT Pass State Safety Inspection.
