Being part of the opppsition in a country such as ours means that the vast majority of the issues we raise are simply ignored by the media. This channel is part of an attempt to raise awareness of those issues and to respond to the regiemes constant attacks on the opposition and democracy.

Bula this is Mick Beddoes and I want to add my comments about the ‘disgraceful ape gesture’ made by Khaiyum during the Committee stage of the 2016 Budget.
It is obvious to me that the relentless efforts of the Opposition during this 2016 budget debate to scrutinise every line and every allocation succeeded in building up so much pressure that the normally composed Attorney General ‘ lost control’.
The gesture that Khaiyum made in Parliament as he resumed his seat was ‘a racist ape gesture’ pure and simple.

Qarase you chudo, don’t you realize that GCC was a creation of the white man which was adopted by the indigenous , so why shouldn’t a non indigenous man should not comment on it. THE PRIME REASON TO REMOVE GCC BY BAINIMARAMA WAS TO PULL THE SUPPORT OF NATIVE FIJIANS WHICH HE DIDNT HAD TO CALL THE 2014 GENERAL ELECTION .WHEN GCC WAS ILLEGALLY REMOVED THEN BAINIMARAMA FORMULATED A POLICY TO DISTRIBUTE EQUAL LEASE MONEY BETWEEN THE CHIEFS & COMMONERS .THEN THE COMMONERS THREW THEIR SUPPORT BEHIND FFP AND BAIS PARTY WON WITH 32 PARLIAMENTARY SEATS .
BAINIMARAMA WAS ON THE HELM OF THE ILLEGAL GOVERNMENT RULED BY 3 JUDGES IN 2009 AND AT THAT POINT IN TIME GCC WERE ILLEGALLY REMOVED .
THE CHIEFS HAD CEEDED FIJI TO GREAT BRITAIN.THE CHIEFS HAD SHAPED OUR NATION NOT SAIYAD KHAIYUM & BAINIMARAMA .

I totally agree! Well presented speech,show the depth of her knowledge about the security of the i taukei tradition relating to our God given land! Well balanced and precisely focus on the very important issues regarding our rights as the native of this country! Reinstating the GCC is not a decision for the Indian or any of the other ethnic communities in Fiji to make, it is for the Indigenous community to decide. When the military regime abolished the GCC via Khaiyum’s first decree against our indigenous first citizens - The Fijian Affairs Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Regulation Decree of 2007 to suspend the GCC They breached of the ILO Convention and the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous people and the breach remains in place today. Corruption and cronyism is in over drive today and it has nothing to do with the GCC.
@@BeddoesM that's not what I heard..lol..in fact it's common knowledge that in part Speights coup was to prevent the investigation into corrupt activities of people in high places.some of whom were chiefs

Why do indigenous people have to buy their own land, they are the first people to settle on their land and have lived on the land for thousands of years even before the Indians were brought as slaves from India under the indentured system. The Indians pay for the land because they are simply migrant people and second settlers to a land which has already been owned, they also sustained the economy because they needed to make themselves something out of nothing, they worked hard as they had nothing after leaving everything back in India as they were tricked by the British. They were able to become economically progressed in Fiji as they came from a more progressed enlightened society compared to the indigenous Fijians society which were kept to their own villages and way of life and away from the economical financial aspects of things by the British.

Since I left Fiji back in 87 I have no idea of politics etc.. but, always somehow naturally missed Fiji. Obviously going back after 17years I loved the scerinity, food, culture, people alot!!!!.... Now, throughout the later years!... we all come to witness all this!... IF you know what I mean .
