G Scale IC 3140
Просмотров 536Месяц назад
A second IC unit has been added to the roster of the CN Sherwood Park Division. Today it leads the Work900 doing some ballast work on the layout. This locomotive is an AML GP60 kitbashed into a GP50. The prototype runs as a GP40. How's that for confusing. :)

G Scale Yard Construction
Просмотров 4,7 тыс.2 года назад
Sherwood Park yard is complete and in service. The framed area against the fence will eventually be a city area, and the posts against the fence will support the new high double main. A bridge is ordered to cross over the yard to the deck, but will not be delivered until the end of the summer. For now, I will concentrate on cleaning up all of the sod, and getting the city base installed.

OK, tell us about your custom gons?? love them
Thanks Marty. What would you like to know? It took me 5 years to complete the 20 car train. Plans can be found on my webpage - www.canadianrailroads.ca/rail/gscale.htm Here's a playlist showing a few of them getting built. - ruclips.net/p/PLhGj7xB62-u2GZIF81AIbYvksAC6M-oEB I was a guest on MrPictovid's channel where I discussed their build - ruclips.net/video/vvhG7wQrLy8/видео.html New 4k video they appear in - ruclips.net/video/8TLDST5B3B8/видео.html
@@CanadianrailroadsCa they are very nice, thanks for the info.
@@bibledefinedbymartycozad No problem.
New username??
This is just my overflow so I don't flood my main channel with G scale. It still gets the yearly big video.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa oh ok. Sounds hi-tech 🤪
Perfect job🛤️🛠️🤩👍
Thanks. :)
Looks amazing Shane!!
Thanks Bob. Good to hear from you. I hope you're doing well.
4k confirmed
Thanks Logan.

Eine wunderschöne Maschine. Die würde ich mir auch kaufen. Ist in Deutschland aber mit einigem Aufwand verbunden, Loks der Canadischen Eisenbahn zu kaufen. Like me 🚂🤩👍🤩
Danke. Sogar für mich als CN-Fan ist es in Kanada schwierig. CN hat die meisten seiner Geräte angepasst. Ich kann alle Standardmodelle kaufen, muss sie dann aber für meine CN-Flotte umbauen. :)
@@CanadianrailroadsCa Danke für die Info. Ich bekomme nicht mal Standmodelle in Deutschland. Einzig Piko baut amerikanische Fahrzeuge.
That's some really cool mainline action. Now all you're missing for those monsters are SBUs. :P
Thanks Bricks. SBU's are on my list, so what do you figure? Maybe ten more years. :P
This is awesome Shane! I love those two, first in 1:1 scale and now G. :)
Thanks Bricks. Hopefully the 1:1 don't disappear on us. :O
beast mode
Thanks John. There might be a major op. tomorrow. :)
Awesome job! 😎👍 I know that stack train is headed through Sussex, Wisconsin on its way to Illinois 😉
Thanks Dave. I wondered where it was off to. :P
great looking trains!
Thanks Joe.
Shane everything is looking great !
Thanks Sean.
Outstanding...! 👍
Thanks. :)
Nice, are you using CamPac Kadee coupler adaptors...?
Thanks. I built my own mounts for this project, but I did use CamPac's on my SD75I's and SD40-2w.
Shane nice work .. How many scratch build engines do you have now ?
Thanks Sean. You made me go count. :P I currently have 16 custom locomotives if I include the slug.
Excellent looking engine.
Thanks David.
Love railpro
Yes, easy to use and great sound files.
Nice Layout 🛤️🚂🛠️🤩👍
Thanks Ingo MoBa.
Do both have sound ? That came out awesome Shane .. The pike looks happy in the yard ..
Thanks Sean. Yes, they are both equipped with RailPro sound.
Best way to start my morning. Thanks Shane! 😎👍
Thanks Dave. I hope you have a great Fourth of July. I'm guessing you'll be running a special train. :)
love this
Thanks John.
That is awesome Shane, Dash9 duos rock!
Thanks Bricks. Now I just need the rain to go away long enough to have a big op.. :)
Looks great! Excellent job!
Thanks Andrew. The 2648 went into service a few weeks ago, and I hope to have a video posted this week of them running together.
where do you have the IC decals? need some of that
Hi Smee. I use a Silhouette Cameo to cut paint stencils into sticker paper. The markings are all painted.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa looking good to me, very nice, ty for answer
Awesome video! This is inspiring me to make some BC rail units for my layout!
Thanks Zenon Trains & Trucks. Some year I'd like to do one of the blue BC Rail Dash 9's.
I got to play with the L scale version last night :O
Very nice. :)
That is really awesome, you did a great job once again! You've definitely got some real talent when it comes to the little details. :)
Thank you Bricks. :)
Love the under the bridge Take off 😎👍 Nice job brother
@@DavesTrainsAndAutomobiles Thanks Dave.
You need to get yourself an "EOT" 😁
I certainly do, or six. :) It's on my list which seems to be growing instead of shrinking. :O
so cool well done. Very impressed.
Thanks Ryan.
Very nice . .all that cutting and glueing sure came out nice ! The pike looks like it wintered over nicely ..
Thanks Sean. I have to deal with about three rough spots, but overall it is still in good shape. In the next week or two I'll be ordering some clay so that I can get back to work on the upper level. :O
If you build it we will watch. Never a disappointment. Awesome job brother 😎👍
Thanks Dave. I'll have to post some better footage once the yard turns green.
Great job. Can’t believe you built that out of scratch. You’re very talented.
Thanks stayloaded. Wow, I responded twice from my main channel, but I guess I'm banned from commenting on my own videos. :O
Very nice 👍
Thanks Stayloaded. :)
all scratch built consist
You bet. 3 of my 4 SD60f's. They still need their side ladders. Some year. :)
wow! you've had a busy winter!!!
Yes, and yet my workbench is still full. :O
thanks for the inspiration
You're welcome John.
Snott Bad .....
Thanks Sean. I know I let you down with the lack of green tape. I'll try to do better with the next one. :P
Outstanding as always, right on..! 👍
Thanks AikenkneesRailway. Next winter I think I'll focus on boxcar builds. :)
Cruises right along, doesn’t she?
They were shelf queens for a number of years, so they needed to blow the dust off. :)
Amazing job with the repaint. As I have been thinking myself how to get some more Canadian rolling stock, I would love to learn how you did it. Maybe in a future video? In terms of engine, wouldn't a LGB P40DC also be a good candidate for a repaint?
Thanks Franz-Peter. Four of the cars still need their flag and Canada logos. I use a Cameo Silhouette to cut paint stencils into sticker paper. That's how I apply markings to all of my rolling stock. USA Trains hinted they were going to make an F40PH, so I'm hoping that will lead the train some day. I'm in western Canada, and the GE locomotives only operate in the east.
@@CanadianrailroadsCa Thanks for the explanation. I hope you do not mind a couple of follow up questions: Do you do the cutting by hand, or with a plotter? How do you remove the factory print on the cars? And how did you do the blue stripe? 🙂 A USA Trains F40PH in Via colours would surely be great. Do you know why Via does not use the GEs on the long distance trains? With the Chargers now on the corridor, I would have expected that they are cascaded on.
@@franz-peterkayser722 No problem. My Cameo Silhouette does all the cutting for me. The stencils can only be used once, so I can't imagine having to do it by hand. I use 1500 grit sandpaper to carefully remove the old markings. I tried using alcohol, but had no luck with it. As for the stripe, I carefully sand off the old road name, mask it and spray using Rust-Oleum gloss deep blue. I use school bus yellow for the VIA logo. ( the four coaches were Pennsylvania Congressional cars, and are the best VIA match. The remaining four cars were Canadian Pacific. ) I'm not sure why VIA doesn't use GE's in the west. I guess they have lots of the F40PH available as they are being replaced in the east. They're still a good locomotive.
OMG the courage it must have taken to cut that most expensive locomotive apart. Then achieve this success ; it must have been epic. What a great build! Thanks for sharing the journey with us.
Thanks. I was a little nervous the first time I cut up a locomotive, but I've grown to be pretty comfortable with it.
Excellent scratch building. Were do the sizes and dimensions come from? Do you take on apprentices? I could send my resume haha. Very impressive work.
Thanks Anthony. I was lucky enough to get to crawl all over the locomotives and rolling stock with a tape measure before I retired.
That is a first rate conversion on the SD70mac to SD75I. Love it, looks and sounds great.
Thanks Anthony. These were my first locomotives equipped with RailPro. Their sound files are great.
Nice work! Do you allow visitations?
Thanks Anthony. It's not something I've done at this point as my yard is a big construction zone. Maybe in a few years when the upper level is complete.
Wow Shane, that looks fantastic! Very well done, you executed that perfectly! Quite the big change to your layout, I like it a lot!
Thanks Bricks. It's definitely making things more interesting. I just have to be careful nothing falls off the cliff at the north end. 😮😛
Outstanding..! 👍
Thanks AikenkneesRailway.
um. wow!!!
Hi John. Hopefully this is the last phase of track work. Hoping for a 2025 completion of the upper mains. 😎
Shane that's amazing! Are you building a grade to get up there or will these be separate lines?
Thanks Mike. No, I'm going to keep them as separate systems. The only switches on the top level will be the crossovers on the deck. I imagine it will be at least two more summers before trains will run on the top level, but once complete, I'll be able to have four trains running between the two levels.
Big WoooW!!,.. Great job, simply amazing"' thanks .
Thanks TTH.
