    36:00, I am glad she asked because I was also wondering that too with IFBB. Because I didn't know how it worked. I know CBum competed as an Open pro recently, and Missy Truscott just switched to Figure, but I was unsure of their "pro" status in the other divisions. I think what confused me is I follow another athlete that won her Figure and WPD pro cards last summer, so I thought maybe athletes had to earn a pro card in the division they are deciding to now compete end. I think my two brain cells are working together now 😆😆

    I am genuinely confused about Steven's point at 1:13. If someone "does all the stuff", why would they not get results/improvements to their physique? And if that's true, is all the literature that shows that your physique (level of muscularity + leanness) is mostly determined by what you do, not your "genetics" (which is poorly defined), invalid? Are there really cases of people "doing all the stuff" for years and not gaining muscle, not getting leaner, not having a good physique? Then what is the point of coaching, if none of the stuff actually works and it's all genetically determined? Is the argument really that if a competitor stopped training, overate consistently, stopped moving, they'd just still look the same as they do doing all that stuff? Because I've met and personally know many people where that's clearly not the case, and you can see a huge difference in what they look like when they're not eating appropriately, not training, not being active and when they are. They also don't look particularly genetically "elite" when they're "not doing the things".

      I think he was focused more on the other side to things, that you can be doing all of the right things and hit a point of peak returns, and then you are working to maintain that physique, level of performance, etc. Which doesn't make the continued work or support via coaching invalid, it means we are being more creative to keep things in a place someone wants to be, and finding new outlets to push limits.

    If it works for you all, I’d love a section dedicated to all things cardio: Do you go with “choose anything that means you do it” or do you prefer certain types / have a hierarchy of which you rate and those you slate? Do you advise certain clients to do certain types of cardio (whether that’s the equipment eg stairmaster, or HIIT or LISS) based on their progress, where they store fat and how much they have vs how long left? Fasted cardio yay or nay? Hypothetically, is it better to do cardio and eat more or eat less with none? Do you think it’s good to have a total break in improvement season from cardio? What do you all like to do?

    Great points Lexie! I still don’t think any of the 6 divisions can overtake bikini in popularity until there is that person who can carry the division forward as the champion. When you have a certain threshold for the division’s criteria it can’t overtake others, and the hardest part will be the fine line of Fit Model and Bikini

      Hey John! Thanks for listening. I do agree with you here- I really do think the toughest part is going to be setting the fine line between the Fit Model and Bikini division. Especially if we see girls trying out both at 2 different show. Plus, I do fear a bit that if there are few girls who do fit model in the beginning shows, that the judges will only be able to reward what shows up and that that could potentially yield to a physique being rewarded that does not quite hit the mark, but is rewarded just because it is the best that day.

      Exactly - if one girl takes both then the lines are already blurred. I know one host said that shouldn’t happen but we all know it can at a small show and especially with smaller numbers in a division. One girl who’s a little big for fit model and a little small for bikini could win NPC in both on the same day and then the criteria gets blurrier and blurrier.

    • @laurabevis5
      @laurabevis5 3 дня назад

      @@DreamlabsStudios there’s been a lot of grumbling about European shows in particular being judged differently (not sure if it’s been said elsewhere internationally) but part of that is because girls show up here much more conditioned and therefore looking like they have much more muscular development and it looks like that’s being rewarded sometimes but it isn’t really the case, it’s just the best of the shredded girls sometimes!

    • @laurabevis5
      @laurabevis5 3 дня назад

      @@lexiemaitland8984 they are potentially so close together that women entering who are on the cusp might encourage the division towards leaner and bigger especially when many of those may be women who have had a lot of experience in bikini and already have the stage presence and posing down so that also make it more likely they might win. Does that make sense?

    • @DreamlabsStudios
      @DreamlabsStudios 3 дня назад

      @ yes but then I wonder - I even noticed yesterday that the posters advertising the European shows on the NPC online have these crazy defined and hard looks. I was honestly scrolling and stopped short when I saw the poster not even knowing that it was a euro show but then saw it was Germany. Sheesh! Every look was hard!

  • @laurabevis5
    @laurabevis5 5 дней назад

    On a more reflective note, I think as a more seasoned lifter (read older 😂), having been around when bikini came in then wellness and then when bikini because bigger and experiencing the frustration of being not quite right for figure and too big for bikini as it was (what fit model will be) and then finally getting a division which suits me, I think it’s a good thing for people to be able to have that. It’s great to give people the opportunity to excel and dedicate themselves to something and train and eat well when they don’t have the genetics or time banked or desire for bikini and the other divisions Hope that makes sense. It’s just great to find your niche represented

      It takes a lot of work to look effortlessly lean and fit. Whether that’s an active lifestyle and always having been in shape or a background in something else, it’s not something that someone can just step into a gym for the first time and lose 40 lbs and look like Ashley K in 2015 for 99% population

    So a fitness pageant? Seems to contradictory as of yet for me. The picture they showed of Ashley K & then what Tyler said are very different from each other. I watched the video of the guy speaking on it with the 3 ladies & he said he had people asking him if they fit the division & he said “just try” this to me doesn’t sound like they even know what they want. There will be 100s of girls showing up for this division in most major cities & I can count a handful of girls at my local gym who “fit” the criteria. I think with the influx of young ladies who are into fitness this is an easy way to make money (as they should). I don’t think the winner of this division will be picked on hard work, unfortunately. Interested to see how things play out.

    • @DreamlabsStudios
      @DreamlabsStudios 4 дня назад

      As a tall competitor who works super hard but won’t ever appear to have the same muscle mass as a girl 8 inches shorter than me - at least without getting on PEDs, I can say that this division may showcase a different body style that works JUST as hard as the others.

    • @tf8187
      @tf8187 4 дня назад

      @ I’m sure there will be girls who work hard, but I don’t think those girls will be rewarded in this division. As a tall girl myself who is natural I think that this division will not be rewarded for hard work & more of a pageant than a bodybuilding competition like the other divisions. Unfortunately.

    For a FEW women, a NATURALLY ATTAINABLE PHYSIQUE INCLUDES these attributes: well-developed, sculpted, jacked and powerful upper body muscle mass WITH shred, separation and vascularity; a V-shaped shredded back; an occasional/fluctuating six pack; muscular lean and well-defined legs without shred (not realistic natty); hard, sculpted, powerful and shapely glutes; a lean, but curvaceous, hourglass figure with the muscularity of a fitness competitor's physique. I had all that before the gym lockdowns (my location had super-strict lockdowns). So, it IS possible IF you have that innate talent. In order to achieve this goal, a woman needs to be predominantly fast-twitch muscle fiber, have a natural V-shaped back, the inherent muscle insertions, the mental resilience and fortitude (recovery is a bitch if you're always natty), superstrong connection tissue (includes tendons), unwavering determination, self-discipline when eating wholesome balanced food, etc. My main point is that ONLY a few women (young or middle-aged) can attain, maintain and continue to build upon this physique. Why? Women just DON'T have enough natural testosterone. Testosterone builds muscle mass and strength. So, it's that much tougher for any female. The "new fit model division" is for women who DON'T have the genetics to build ENOUGH muscle mass to look like a competitive bodybuilder. It's a type of 'DEI' for the female bodybuilding community and the industry. Why doesn't the NPC just require specific blood tests so ONLY the most talented NATURAL BODYBUILDERS can actually compete FAIRLY - in a FAIR competition?!?! DON'T let the women on growth hormones and illegal fat burners get through the loopholes!!! Give the competitors the RIGHT blood work instead of useless urine tests. Then the inherently talented natural female bodybuilders CAN compete in NPC and it would be completely fair!!! Isn't THAT better than lowering the standards? This is about bodybuilding - not typical weight training.
