I had been struggling with grief over my mother's passing in 2019 and in may 2024 my father followed her. I have my husband and my daughters, but there's a huge piece of me that doesn't wanna stay here anymore. I am torn between guilty for feeling like this and absolute no will to go on. I have become a very good actress. It's easier telling this to a bunch of strangers on the internet. I tried therapists, but they abandoned me after the first session. So thank you, John, for being here

Why does he laugh hysterically all the time?

In the history of Eastern Orthodox Christianity there is the tradition of the 'starets' - literally 'old man'. He is someone who is not a part of the church hierarchy (not a priest, not a monk). He is known in his village not only as experienced in spiritual matters but as someone who lives in the presence of God. He is not intelligent but wise, he is not powerful, but has authority and serves as a guide/adviser to people of the village in their struggles. His role is fully accepted and recognized by the church even though he's outside of its institutional body. Today social media has shrunk the world into a global village and we are all clumsily learning how to live with each other without constantly reaching for the pitchforks. I feel that John is a starets to all of us. Bless him for this, bless everyone who has come here to listen to his guidance, and bless us all as we learn to live as brothers and sisters. Amin

I have spent my life studying various so-called "religions" and see how indeed all is ONE. It is good to hear this from a Christian standpoint as this is perhaps the most divided group within itself...I grew up in a strong Catholic family and the church told me no meditation...and much more, what? Yet the mystics were avid meditators. Then the Eastern influence hit the states...Ram Das with Neem Karoli's words, among others...and the light began to shine. All One...All One...All One...John your words are Universal...and well, All ONE.
