Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Cello Suite no. 6, BWV 1012, trans. Springer IV. Sarabande V. Gavottes I & II The music of Johann Sebastian Bach is a quintessential representation of the learned style, and his instrumental suites stand out as an undeniable demonstration of his compositional prowess. The cello suites remain a pinnacle of the repertoire to this day, unparalleled in complexity,...

Leo Brouwer (1939 - ): Suite no. 2 I. Preludio II. Allegro Burlesco III. Andantino (un poco lento) This piece of Leo Brouwer's displays a slightly more delicate side of his compositions. The style reflects more impressionistic, intimate ideas that he absorbed by studying scores of composers like Ravel in the music stores of Havana. It turns the traditional suite form on its head: instead of fas...

Amazing, very well performed Is it possible to know the name of these guitars, I really like their sound, expecially the one in the right
Thank you! The guitar on the left is made by Martin Blackwell and the one on the right by Glenn Canin
Fantástic! 🎵🎶🥳👏👏
Amazing performance! Can i ask where the text at the beginning is from??
Thank you! The text is taken from program notes I wrote for the recital.
That was breathtaking, Gentlemen!
Thank you for listening!
Terrific performance. Fred! First time hearing the Brouwer Fugue. Continued success!
Thank you very much! It is one of his lesser known works, but one of my favorites.
Excellent interpretation. One of my favourite pieces for sure, it's just too hard for me to play though. I can't get the essentially two separate pieces to go together, the melody and the lower strings - it's a bit like the separation of hands on the piano, there is another level of skill I just don't have for this.
Thank you very much. I like the piece a lot too! It can be tricky to play, but one thing I like to think about with the issue you brought up of two parts: think vertically instead of horizontally. Instead of the lines as they move across the staff, the vertical instances where notes are played simultaneously. Then you can separate voices for phrasing, etc., but especially when I am learning a piece I think vertically to get the fingerings down. Hope that helps, because it's a great joy to play this piece!
Very nice!!
Thank you!
you playing and the image of Spanish moss...beautiful
Thank you so much! The moss moves me, too.
Beautiful song! Jordan and I loved it! 🥰
Thanks very much! All the best to you both.
Fred you’re so good
Thank you!
Excelente
Perfection.
Few things are more perfect than Bach's music, he makes our job easy. Thanks for your comment!
Great playing!
Great performance. Just discovered this piece, it's really special.
Thank you very much! And yes, it is a lesser known work by maestro Castelnuovo, but there is so much intrigue there... It was a joy to study and I miss playing the piece!
Absolutely spectacular! If the NWSE Duo sticks around long enough, they will replace SoloDuo as the preeminent source of Beethoven classical guitar duets.
Thank you very much, Thatcher, that's quite high praise! We merely attempt to do what the unparalleled SoloDuo does regularly; I think it would be impossible to "replace" them. But we appreciate the feedback, nonetheless, and hope to stick around for a long while!
✔👏👏👏👏👏
Wonderful, very nuanced and masterful playing which brings out the humorous side of the piece. And great dynamics and color. Even as a supposed "musical joke" this is no joke to play, like all of CT's music for guitar. This is a performance that's exciting to watch (you really dig in!): something rare in classical guitar. Great technical control, phrasing and emotion.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I couldn't agree more. I love all of his music, and this piece was a lot of fun to study and work with. What is your favorite variation?
So wonderful piece and performance! Congrats
Thank you! I love Tedesco very much, and was excited to share this piece that is less well-known than many of his works.
GIT. IT. BUDDY. I'm happy to say I saw this in person. Gorgeous work!
Thanks a bunch, man!! Miss you all in Austin. I'll be back soon, hopefully to share some more great music with everyone I can!
