2024 Beta XTrainer 300 Broken Rib Chill Single Track
Testing out the broken rib and the Smart Carb on the Beta XTrainer 300. Bike feels fantastic besides the minor carb adjustments needed. Thinking its a lean setting near idle. So I'll adjust a click or 2 richer. See if that helps then check the idle adjustment.

The plan was just to go out for an easy 500 ride. I wasn't really feeling it sore etc Until I saw the red plate riders. It was hard to tell but I thought I saw the number 15 on the Beta. Then I had to go on the hunt for them haha! Turned out to be a great ride. Beautiful weather.

Video recorded by Ryan Wells. Not taking credit for anything. One of the best riders I know. I had such a great day as always! Always fun training with Ryan and I highly, highly recommend getting some practice in with him. From the very basics, age doesn't matter, all skill levels up to advanced. He's got it covered! Making more progress with ledge work.

Out on the 2025 KTM 300 XC-W. Sold the Varg and went back to a good old fashion 300 2 stroke. I just love how smooth this bike is. Power is so friendly when you're not feeling it or tired. Then snappy when you need it. It's the best 2 stroke I've had yet. Battery died at the end. Sorry. Also I'll get that rattle squared away from the GoPro mount.

Apologies for the horrible audio quality. Also I meant to say I adjusted the Power Valve for a bit more aggressive power. Also, the main jet is a 162 not 165. Getting the 2024 Beta XTrainer 300 out on the trails and a rundown on mods as of now. Feels great to be back on the XTrainer.

Just some unedited footage of our group ride in some fantastic flowing single track. The 2024 KTM 300 XC-W is so incredibly smooth. Love love love the bike for days like this. I think it's the best 2 stroke I've ever ridden. Riders are Joe, Aaron, Brian and Alan.

Great day with @DirtZen messing around in the single track, new trails and a few climbs. End of video is the flowing trail section. Loving the 450 more and more. Still a huge fan of 2 strokes but this 450 is fantastic!

I'm not a great reviewer but I'll give my first opinions on the 450. I love 2 strokes. 4 strokes have their place and are a ton of fun. I'm very impressed with the 450. I'm thinking it will be my cardio/faster trail training bike. Still, there's nothing like a 2 stroke in the hard enduro terrain. Love dirt bikes!

@@micahnuckols5046 Sorry about that. Should be better next time. :)
The mirrors 🤣🤣🤣 that was hilarious! Can’t wait to get back to riding there and chasing you all around. Now I just need to get some mirrors 😎
@@DirtZen All about the mirrors!
That looked like fun! Great work!! 👏 💯
Damn dude, the training is paying off! You’re looking solid out there! 💪
Thank you sir! Looking forward to future rides with ya!
Awesome content! I’m an adult and around the same size 5’5 @ 147 lb and would like to get into this trail stuff. No experience 😢 I was thinking of a xtrainer and keep it oppose to crf 250f then wanting to upgrade to something lighter .
XTrainers are a great bike to learn on. I highly recommend them. Go for it and have fun!
Nice video James. You are becoming quite the avid adventurer! 4:40 was a great shot. Are you happy with the giant loop handlebar bag?
Thanks Fynn! Yep love the giant loop bags. I run them on all the bikes now. Super easy access to the phone or what ever smaller items needed up front..
Hey James what part of Arizona are you in? You mentioned cactus. I just ordered a 24 xtrainer myself from a dealership in Phoenix. I'm located near Tucson.
Congrats on the trainer! I'm in north scottsdale area.
@@jm6918 You mentioned Mike at dirt riders West. That's where I'm getting my bike from! From the conversations I had with him seems like a great dude! I'm very interested in the suspension upgrade you did. That's something that's on my radar to do on mine at some point. Do you mind me asking you what it cost to do that kyb fork?
@@OdysseyOffroad Mike is awesome! He's helped me out a lot and always continues to do so. I think the total was 4300 for the KYB and Ohlin rear? The xtrainer fits me so well that I just figured, the heck with it and I'll go all in on suspension. Unfortunately with the fires closing areas down, I haven't tried them out as much as I'd like. let's hope wildcat opens back up in a few months.
@@jm6918 I didn't realize you had wildfires up there in Scottsdale. I'm down in the Tucson area plenty of riding here
Great bike! Just got one for the woods here in Mississippi. Love it!
Congrats! They are great bikes no doubt. Have fun!
I’m between that rear tire and the shinko 525
Haven't tried the Shinko yet. One of these days.
Shinko is awesome for PA in the rocks and mud
Hello James, I also have a 28in inseam and was considering getting this bike. I'm afraid it may be too tall. Are you able to reach the ground with both feet? If so how much? Thank you
Thinking about one of these for my wife to replace her KLX230. She's ridden my 200rr but it's probably too much rev for her in the chunky stuff.
XTrainer is very mellow stock. Lots of great torque but not intimidating at all. Definitely something to look into.
“Just an easy day” as he falls down a mountain 🤣 Bike looks great, good to see you back on Beta 💪
Thanks! Don't think we've had an easy day yet! 🤣
With the helmet of course! Man that must have felt good riding home!
Natural A/C! 🤣
Great ride! The lower rocks were my favorite but the single track was epic.
Agree! Had a lot of fun and look forward to the next ride with you guys!
Great ride! That tight stuff is so much fun. Crazy how all the moisture is already gone. Going to be a wasteland soon!
It's got such a cool vibe! So much fun!! 😎
Man what a fun day! I was wiped out at the end of that! But you''ve found so much flowy stuff. It's awesome!
Yes sir! Too much fun.
Looks fun
Oh yeah. Never gets old out here.
Those canyons are so much fun! 🤘
Yes they are! Never get tired of them.
“Don’t think about it, just go!” 😂 Man I miss exploring and doing dumb stuff with you. soon!!! 💪
Haha! Plenty of dumb to share. Any time!
Sweet video man! I am loving the AZ trails! Been there once and dying to vacation out there again. Thinking of getting an Xtrainer myself since it gives me a bit more confidence for my skill level
Definitely vacation out here again! Too many trails here to keep you busy. XTrainers are no joke. Probably one of my favorite bikes for technical single track and hard enduro terrain. Regrettably, I sold mine but I'm really thinking to get another. In fact I probably will. Just such a fantastic low seat 300 2T to goat around on. Thanks for the comment!
Where is this trail, sir?
This is in the Arizona Wildcat OHV area and in that general area. There are a lot of trails that branch off of each other and further down the main sand wash to the Verde River.
@@jm6918Hey, I live off of 136th, just picked up the same bike. Message if you need a riding partner.
@@justincase3256 Sorry I missed this. Thanks! For sure we should meet up some time.
I completely agree, there's something about the bigger 4 strokes that are just so confidence inspiring. They feel so planted and just eat up the trails. You handled it perfectly, especially those bigger whoops. i know that section and gopro doesn't do it any justice. You're going to be a beast when you get that machine dialed in. Very cool! 👍✌
Thank you sir!
Trying to decide between the 350 EXC-F and the 500 EXC-F. I'm not a big guy, 160 lbs. Most everyone says 350 for woods, 500 for desert, but you made that 500 work pretty well in the canyon. Did you consider the 350?
I did. In fact I sold a bike but picked up a 2023 450 instead. The 350 was definitely a top choice, but I found the 2023 450 for 3k less than normal and all 350s were 2024. I don't have any seat time on the 350s unfortunately. Like you said, 350 is what most suggest. The 500 is extremely capable no doubt. I have the GET ECU from Taco Moto Co and that really wakes up the 500. It's super friendly, lots of torque and yet the top end doesn't seem to stop! It's unreal when you want it to be. It's very manageable through all the harder enduro stuff I take the 300. The 500 would be the bike I'd pick if it came down to one for everything. Fantastic bikes!
500 power 💪💪💪!!! Those bikes can do anything! You made the sand hill look like nothing!!! Nicely done!
Thanks! Yep 500s are so crazy versatile. They do anything from tough slot canyons to hauling butt back home on the highways! ;)
Great little trip! Dirt looks perfect as well. You’re getting really good at the technical bits! 👍
Thank you sir! Dirt was great. still a bit slick but over all, nothing beats the desert after the rain. Found some great hill climbs for ya!
Looks like fun. I need to get to that side of town to ride.
Yep! lots of great riding near Wildcat.
is this by table mesa
It's down by the Wildcat area near the verde river
Always fun riding to costa rica! Nice vid!👍
Yes it is. Thanks!
That was awesome! You made Nemesis look easy! I’ve never been up that trail across from Nemesis, only down. GoPro doesn’t do it any justice, those are some steep climbs. Can’t wait to get back to exploring with you, never a dull ride when you say “I wonder where this goes?” 😆🤙
@@DirtZen Thanks! Credit goes to @bartman376 for giving the secret to successful nemesis climbs. Weaving up it makes or breaks the deal. Haha! Yep my goal is to keep it an adventure out there! Many more headed your way 👍
Also, I spied with my little eye that there could be the beginnings of little mini step ups forming on the face of nemesis. Could be challenging in the future.
@@jm6918 Time to get good at step-ups! Good sessions for Megs!
Have you unrestricted the throttle on that thing yet? There is a tiny screw that only allows ⅓of your throttle usability. I took mine out of my 2023 and undid the exhaust restriction as well and holy smokes that thing screams now.
Sure did! World of a difference.
Does the x handle the woops ok.
Stock suspension isn't all that bad. But the more I learn and ride aggressive, Yeah you can feel it struggles a bit. But really, the XTrainer will out ride my abilities any day. I'm looking into swapping to a KYB 48 fork soon. Pricy but if it works out, the XTrainer will be a serious trail weapon.
Which one turns better ? Does the x trainer feel lighter, or I should say a lot lighter than the wr
I'd say the XTrainer turns better. It's a smaller size bike than most bikes. The WR handles fantastic though! Much more nimble and impressive than I was expecting for a 4 stroke.
Do you feel any vibrations like some say ! Or it it like any other 2 stroke bike .
I honestly don't even notice. I want to Say that my KTM 500 has more vibration. Yeah. I don't think it's a big deal.
Great trail, nice view’s. Some say that the x trainer has some vibrations, what’s your opinion. Have you rode any other beta’s. Did you consider a 200 or 300 , just curious.
Thanks! I'd say vibrations are negligible. Honestly, I don't recall ever thinking about it? I've ridden my friends Beta 250 2 stroke and his 390 4 stroke briefly. 250 felt playful and quicker revving than my XTrainer. the 390 felt much more nimble than my KTM 500 exc-f. I have been curious about the 200. Haven't rode one yet but maybe at a demo day some time. Hear great things. Beta makes some great bikes.
Love the Xtrainer. Is the blue LED anything to do with the map switch? My 2019 doesn't have that.
Yep that's the map switch. Honestly, I haven't really messed with it all that much.
Bike sounds good, you running stock jetting?
JD jet kit
@@jm6918 Is that a must for this bike? Is the jetting pretty consistent? Sorry for all the questions.
@@knoxville7477 Not a problem. No, I thought the stock jetting was fine. Never had any issues. I only ordered it when I was going to take the bike up to higher altitudes.
@@jm6918 👍
Man those ruts at the end are getting deeper and deeper! What a blast that was! Your bike sounds awesome - throaty down low and like a beast when you're on the gas!. Couldn't ask for a more perfect ride/day.
Yeah they are! Perfect day. Yep it has a different down low grumble and it will rip when opened up. Such a good day today.
Which one is easier to ride Xtrainer or WR ?
My opinion the XTrainer. WR is a fantastic bike 100% but it's a race bike once opened up with mods.
@@jm6918 Did you keep the oil injection on the Beta?
@@knoxville7477 As of now yes. I haven't' had any issues but I often think about doing the delete.
@@jm6918 Thanks for the info! I'm interested in both of these bikes. Not sure if I could use to the jerky stroke power. Have you tried different maps to smooth it out ?
@@knoxville7477 I replaced the stock ECU and installed the GYTR. I think that helped some of the jerky feel? But I haven't tried any of the maps yet. The XTrainer is way less tiring as well. I love the smooth torque it produces. WR it seems you need to work harder in steep ruts/hill climbs. XTrainer will chug right on up. Again, the WR is an amazing bike! If your trails are more open, WR rips. If you do more single track technical stuff, the XTrainer really shines.
Nice video! Can’t wait to buy my Xtrainer. I’m a short rider 5’6” and I think this is perfect for me. Any advice for this bike!? I’m also located in Phoenix and I want to know some easy flowing trails. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Thanks! Just go out and have fun with it! They are fantastic bikes. Super easy to ride. I'd recommend Seat Concepts short seat if you feel like it. I have one and it really helps out. Then mousse bibs, FMF S/A, hand guards, pipe guard and skid plate for the basic protections. Check out Wildcat OHV. We love riding there. So many great flowing trails. You'll love the bike I bet. Thank you and have fun!
@@jm6918 I just put a down payment for a 2024 Xtrainer 😍 and got the option to install the 1” lowering kit from factory at no labor cost, just buy the parts. Once I feel comfortable I can install the original one. I went with DIRT RIDERS WEST here in north Phoenix. Very easy to work with them! Can wait to see those 2024 arriving here in USA! 💪🏼
@@Cohobapr Congratulations! I think you'll be super happy. Mike is great to work with. He has gone above and beyond helping me out. Great guy.
@@jm6918 quick question.. what type of spark arrestor are you using on your XTRAINER?
@@Cohobapr Im running the FMF Turbinecore 2.
I just rewatched and man, what a fun day that was. I haven’t ridden in that area for a while, can’t wait to hit those trails again and see what’s changed. Cool memories 🤙😎
Such a great day! Hoping for a solid winter and perfect trail conditions.
That was awesome, seems like the bike and you are getting along really well! Can't wait to take it out and see what it can do!
This bike has crazy good potential! Right now, it's all about making it fit like a glove. I need to get the jerky feeling removed from the throttle and suspension squared away. It's fast, super nimble and has fantastic power and stability. The WR is a force to reckon with.👊
Fun stuff! 1:00 I've never seen that boulder clump before! You need to show me that and the James Rut. And stop running into trees will ya? 🤣
If I can find the boulders again, we'll go. I'll try to pin it on the GPS. The rut is the best and easy to find. No promises on the trees! I hit a canyon wall next to Luke on the Jarvis ride. Just the way it is.
My buddy has a Xtrainer its a cool bike! was this video recent? it been really hot!
Yeah they really are a great trail weapon. Yep this AM. We usually try to start around 5:30ish? Otherwise, cabin fever really kicks in if not riding.
Amazing trail! Where is this in Arizona!? I live in Phoenix and im looking to get an Xtrainer 300 🔥
This is the Wildcat area. Xtrainers are fantastic bikes no doubt.
Some of my favorite trails.

Yes Sir! Decided not to go solo though. Rather not be that guy on the news. I'm curious, have been down that crack on the right? At the 5:05 min mark on this vid?
