@@Vaquix000 Ted and Lily are definitely unlikeable characters but they were so interesting to read about and the story took several turns I wasn’t expecting! None of this is True is definitely one of the most original stories I’ve read in a long time! I thought it was so well done

@@Mano-Wan oh wow that’s so funny, Love on the Brain is my favorite of hers and was a 5 star for me 🤣 something about it I just loved and ate it up lol but I would have thought you might like Love Theoretically because I noticed a shift in her writing style in that book, and it feels less like her first 2 books in my opinion. I’m currently in the middle of Not in Love though and I’m enjoying it!! Definitely, Boys of Tommen is one of my all time favorite series! I think the length of the books can be intimidating but they do read quickly once you start them 🫶🏻

The last time I lied and Home before dark are my 2 favorites by Riley Sager, so I’m hoping Middle of the Night will be up there with those 2 for me! It’ll be interesting to see how I like a Coho book after not reading her books for a while!

@@Vaquix000 that’s such a good point. I feel like from reading so much I do sometimes notice storylines feeling similar to one another. It does sometimes feel like original ideas are few and far between like with shows and movies doing reboots and making sequels just because it’s popular and beloved instead of making something new. I’ve heard music artists also say it’s really hard not to pull from things that they’ve heard previously without meaning to

@@carolinerichards_ I think it's because they're too scared of losing money so they just play it safe and use something that already has a fanbase. They forget they wouldn't have franchises to milk if they were as cowardly with movies in the past, there would be no star wars made in the 70's because they would be too busy remaking and rebooting things from the 40's. They wouldn't have that cash cow if there wasn't brave creators with passion that created it in the 70's. If people stopped seeing these reboots and sequels they would be forced to do something new, but for some reason people just can't get enough of seeing the same thing over and over. I only watch new things because I want to see creative new ideas. If we're in 2050 and there's still batman movies then that is sad, but I wouldn't be surprised. Sorry, bit long!

@@Vaquix000 yeah I definitely think money is the motivation! There are hardcore fans who will keep watching all the reboots but I do think some would prefer to let the classics remain classics and just watch more original things

@@carolinerichards_ "let the classics remain classics" exactly! It shows a lot more respect to a franchise to let them have an ending instead of dragging it out until it stops making money. Breaking bad for example could have just kept going since it was making a lot of money, but the creator chose art over money and ended the story and it's still remembered fondly because of that, meaning more people will be interested in his future shows. So it shows that spending more focus on the art is a better way of making money anyway.

@@Vaquix000 definitely agree breaking bad had one of the best endings ever and is a perfect example of a show that did have a spin off but it was really well done and relevant

That seems so often to me! I swear when I was younger it used to only be every 5 years or something you had to renew your card. Did you read the 2nd book in the Less series?

@@thomasmcfadden6149 definitely Sally Rooney! She has a really unique writing style. She doesn’t use quotation marks around any of her characters dialogue and it take a little getting used to, but I think it makes the story feel more real and immersive and I love how it flows

I haven’t really written anything since school, but I do enjoy it a lot! I don’t have much free time so I usually prefer to spend it reading but maybe one day I’ll get back into it

@@carolinerichards_ Oh okay I understand! Yeah, writing can certainly be less relaxing than reading, having to get into all these different character's headspaces can be daunting especially when a character in a really bad place mentally. A cozy kind of story that doesn't have characters like that might be more fun and better vibes for you to write if you wanna get back into writing. My stories deal with a lot of psychological trauma I've noticed. I like my villains to have more depth than say, something like lord of the rings where the bad guys are just simplistic evil and that's that, or like with how they made Voldemort in Harry Potter be some simple racist jerk. I don't recall him having any depth. It's the villains that have some decency, where you can see parts of yourself in them that are the scariest to me, not villains that just love to be evil or do a silly evil laugh or something. Sorry, bit long lol

@@Vaquix000 yeah if I wrote something it would definitely be a romance or something on the lighter side. That’s definitely interesting to explore with your villain characters. Good luck with your writing!

i love ur honesty lol!! i have been thinking this for so long but nobody ever said this „out loud“ so i’m happy read a shared opinion haha. i honestly agree even tho i haven’t read powerless (yet), i just think that sara specifically almost only reads (or better: mostly only enjoys lolol) books that have a heavy romance plot which is fine totally but ever since i realized that i kind of stopped reading what sara recommends 😅🤣 i love haley phams recommendations tho she reads many different genres 😊 ofc everyone can read whatever they like i‘m not hating at all!!! 🥰

Okay I was thinking the same thing about how her titles are the same as chestnut springs and it bothers me lol 😂 we will see if I end up getting to it this month 😅 I am really interested in reading the girl in 6E bc the premise sounds so interesting! Definitely feel like I’ll be more inclined to pick it up in the fall

i’m both a Harry and zayn girl and I completely agree!! some parts of Hayes character in the book did remind me of zayn though when it came to his dynamic with the band

Audiobooks are the best for consuming books for longer periods of time!! And for when your eyes get tired. 100%, I also felt like Ron and Hermione was unexpected bc I thought it was setting up Harry and Hermione’s relationship when I first read the series! Thank you!! 🙏🏻

@@carolinerichards_ Yeah, I thought that Hermione and Ron felt pretty random too! They should have had some hints about it, there was more hints about Harry and Hermione so it wouldn't have felt as random if Harry and Hermione got together.

Yeah, I definitely think people have preferences on whether they prefer a character driven story or a plot driven story, but I’m very much a character person! If I don’t connect with the characters then I usually end up not enjoying the book overall. I think the romance genre is great for seeing characters in situations like the ones you mentioned! Tysm!!

If the 2nd book in the Beartown trilogy is who I think it’s about then I need to pick it up asap bc they were by far my favorite character!! I feel like the trauma in Just for the Summer made the characters and story more interesting, and I loved it too! Ooh I’m intrigued to pick up the Unmaking of June Farrow! I’ve heard a lot of people talking about that book this year 😊
