Why watching this is ruining your life (FAST)
#hopecore is quickly ruining your life, and here's why. (Dopamine Detox)
'Hopecore' may seem like an innocent trend, but in this video I dive into why these videos make you feel the way they do... and as it turns out, it goes a lot deeper than you might think. This form of content promotes a cheap form of dopamine that consciously or not, preys on your insecurity. SO use this video as a Dopamine Detox.

    I think I needed this. I've had a lapse in both motivation and have found it increasingly difficult to find fulfillment in regular days without looking forward to a night out drinking or the occasional hookup. I know a constant highlight reel isn't sustainable, but over time and unhealthy coping mechanisms (hopecore, partying, etc) I've absolutely destroyed both my attention span and tolerance for delayed gratification. Like, the more you sway towards fantasized perceptions of reality, the less you feel like doing the work needed, because the gap feels so large to get there. Here's to less hedonism and more discipline. Cheers man, thanks 🙌

    I am going to try my hand at giving some answers from my perspective… 1. You can’t know for sure as anything is subject to change (ie, even if you do go to uni and complete a degree, there is no guarantee of getting work straight after). Even if something doesn’t turn out to be right, you can always switch paths at anytime. 2. Naturally, most never do - but as long as you prioritise your happiness and morality over their disdain, you’ll be good! 3. Start off small, even if it’s just going into town and talking to people in the local shops, checking up on family/friends regularly, keep those connections maintained! 4. If that’s what you’re into, then go for it! Just don’t do it too much (ie, once every payday wouldn’t do any harm but every week may lead to financial difficulty and all other burdens that come from excessive drinking). 5. I can’t answer that, most tend to leave at 18 for uni but I’d say early to mid twenties seems more natural; most eastern cultures don’t even think about these sorts of things since families tend to all live together all their lives (so why shouldn’t we!?) 6. Usually unfamiliarity makes you unsure and you think you hate something but it’s actually just because it’s new. I’d say to keep going for three months, see if you learn to adapt, romanticise, get used to it, and then you know. If three months have passed and you’re still miserable, this path is definitely not for you. 7. Work experience, NEXT. (it’s a capitalist country i tell ya). 8. Good question, though the first thing that springs to mind is seeing a therapist, most likely through the NHS? 9. Coffee and Red Bull. There is also the method of promising yourself treats *after* you’ve completed a task. 10. You could do both, split five years for both, but prioritise getting some money in first (travelling is expensive, and again, capitalist country). 11. Spice things up every once in a while, change your schedule, go somewhere different for lunch, even the little things like that can be really exciting! 12. Reddit. NEXT. 13. Not entirely, there may be some harsher aspects but the 20s is a spectrum. 21 is vastly different from 29 and I’ve seen people come out completely changed. 14. Be both! But learn to look after yourself before you start catering to others! 15. Usually this can happen naturally via a lack of contact, other times, the block button is there~ 16. I love to draw, that started out as something I only did for fun once in a while since childhood, but I soon got serious at GCSE. Get a list of things you’ve loved or have loved doing throughout childhood to now and retry them once more, see if you can find a new all time hobby or profession from it; if not, widen that pool and try newer things. 17. Good question, though the general census says to put 20% of your income into savings. 18. Self employment is very unreliable when you’re first starting out, so definitely start working for a company first (even if it’s just a part time pink collar job) in order to ensure stable income, you can always do freelancing on fiverr on the side and see how far you get with it! 19. I don’t know why some do, and it’s incredibly unfair. But the truth is, a lot don’t. Many I’ve spoken to have only gone to uni because they don’t know what else to do, and because it’s the conventional route after A Levels (the same people who spend time complaining about the work load when they realise that university is more than just drinking and house parties). Hope this helped at least someone to some extent, incredibly thought provoking!

    Mom's and their love of grief and drama screw people up a lot. It helps if you have a Father that can steer you away from this. Sadly, that trait is gone in most Fathers.

    • @evanbnormal
      @evanbnormal 15 дней назад

      I actually disagree on this one - my father raised me to have a relentless drive toward whatever I want to achieve. I think the reason this is such prevalent problem is more so down to how fast the world is progressing. (15 years ago barely anyone had heard of RUclips) What do jobs actually look like in the future? How do I set myself up in the right way? This kind of uncertainty that leads people to having this very issue of ‘feeling behind’, can’t just be put down to parental attitudes, but the lightning speed of the world today. Hence why I aim to make a community for those willing to share value to others in that position. 👌

    • @flamingocupproductions5329
      @flamingocupproductions5329 15 дней назад

      @@evanbnormal I appreciate the opinion, but I have to disagree. most people, when in therapy, just pretty much speak about the damage their mom's do to them. in most bible's God is presented as being male. there is a link here.

    • @evanbnormal
      @evanbnormal 15 дней назад

      @@flamingocupproductions5329 I agree, the presence of a male figure to provide direction in upbringing is undoubtedly important. However I do think this issue has also stemmed from the increased speed in societal changes as well. At the end of the day it’s never down to just one factor 🤷‍♂️

    Thank you Evan for this excellent piece of content. I saw myself in this topic, because I had leukemia at the age of 17 ultimately pushing me out of the ordinary life a teenager has. Since then I feel like I have no clear goal other than enjoying life. Don't understand me wrong, I live an awesome life, but I always have the feeling of missing out on something. I have rarely any passions other than my RUclips channel, but I haven't found my clear way there neither. It's a harsh topic and I constantly feel like giving up. But I won't. It might sound stupid, but your content and the fact you yourself are also just starting out motivated me greatly, thank you so much. Im looking forward to new stuff my guy.

    All the things we consider indicators of "success" in life are optional. There's no obligation to pursue a career, get married, start a family, get a mortgage etc. If you're not actively pursuing those things, maybe it's because those things simply aren't for you. If a slower, simpler life appeals to you, then that's what you should aim for.

    • @evanbnormal
      @evanbnormal 15 дней назад

    I just today watched video from gamer gg. He told that opposite of motivation is doubt. So i decided to write down my philosophy. As it turns out i am more of an atheist. Sometimes i believe in God, but it's rare moments. I write it down and it turns out i like democracy. I live in authoritarian country but watch democratic countries RUclips videos. I almost don't watch my country's videos. It's weird. I tried to lay out how i can find my place in this world and decided to write in the blog. Maybe in two languages. I want to kinda peace between the West and my country. We kinda in a proxy war. I don't know what's gonna happen. There is senzorship, so i would need to edit everything to actually post it. I thought about my place and i thought about blog and maybe trying work by my profession. It's the only thing that come to my mind when it comes to making money from it. Of course you can try to write a book. But it's kinda long story and i need money faster. Of course i can just find a job. I make ask my friend about job. But i have disability so it can be tricky. I need to think it through tomorrow. Me and my illness. It's a tricky illness. You can work in good times, but in bad times you just can't. And nobody knows when bad times are coming. So there is need to warn customers about possible unexpected behavior of disappearance. I don't know if customers even need such headache. But i have no other body, only this which is ill. To be honest good times before last episode lasted for 2 years. So i am hopeful that i can work. And last 2 episodes were milder then before. So maybe i just need to ask. So i will ask my friend about employment possibility and start a blog. If she say no i will just blog and try to promote my services through blog. I wrote a lot before. I can post every day. Actually i don't want to post old stuff because i changed my mind on direction of my life i guess. So i feel like maybe i am ready to actually start my journey. And maybe through blog i even can find people who feel the same. So maybe i will find friends. It's easier if you decide what is the world around you is all about and what's your place in it. Of course i am older then you and i actually already made something from myself working and by having a hobby. You still need to do something, learn something useful, become somebody and then you can make contribution to the world.

      It can feel like a constant pull from various sides on what direction to take (whatever those sides may be). Almost like you’re walking a tightrope. The great thing is there are millions of others all walking that tightrope who feel the exact same emotions as you. The only way to find those people is by putting those feelings out there. Keep me informed of your first blog, I’d love to read it🙏
