Bought a 2024 BMW X5 50e in Sept. 2023, 130 miles and 3 days days later "DriveTrain Malfunction", Flat towed to dealer. It's been in repairs for 112 days! Hybrid Battery Management Modules and other electronic components are failing and replacement parts have to come from Germany ! BMWNA bought the 50e back 4 months later this week. My wife didn't want to get stranded again, so we switched over to a 2024 BMW X5 xDrive40I M Sport. Google "X5 50e Problems" and you'll be surprised how many owners have had same "Drivetrain Malfunction" and bricked. Reviews should add info gained at BImmerpost (BMW Forum) where owners can add real life experiences on the cars in review.

I have a 2024 BMW X5 and cannot figure out how to get the assist plus to work. Help, please!

Got my 50e late December 2024.. Lovely except disappointingly excessive tire noise (21" Pirelli RFlats). The noise is annoyingly noticeable on this video too. I was hoping iconic sound would drown the noise but other than under heavy acceleration appear's not to do so.

Thanks for the video. Do you know if that electric sound is artificial or is the real sound of the electric motor. Either way I'd like to not hear it.

Ah yes, I always accelerate on 75th street like that too, How is the driving in Naperville, whats the range in Hybrid mode, since I live in Naperville it's good to know what the range of someone in the area gets, Looking at getting the 50e next week.

Please what does it sound like in sport mode? Does it sound aggressive outside? That's my only reservation before ordering this

When you're in hybrid mode it seems like the engine does not heats up for acellerating. I could see that when the oil temperature gauge came on the screen but i don't know how the engeneers managed that!

Nice Video! I noticed that you are having the X5 Sport. On website, the Driving Assistance Professional Package does not seem to include adaptive cruise control with stop and go. From the looking at your steering wheel, I also don’t see the distance adjustment button. Could you please confirm? So is the one you demonstrated in the video was only using highway assistance? Same with mine. I get between 47-52 miles on electric-only in my 2024 BMW X5 50e. It is AMAZING!

This updated system does not require you to touch the steering wheel, up to 85 mph, on certain freeways. The system also controls speed, following distance and breaking. Fully autonomous. 🎉

Whelp, now I don't have to test drive it. GREAT JOB! I needed to see my driving style in action. Looking at this to replace my Model S Plaid. I miss our old X7 and will be driving less miles in the next year so I don't need the Tesla anymore.

Why is there missing the button (0:37) with the camera on it (side view button) on the center console (between traction- and PDC button), although you got the 360 camera?I‘ve seen this everywhere but don’t know why.

Are you able to get it in launch control ? I’ve followed instructions similar to other BMWs, even asked my dealer & confirmed my sequence. I can’t get my 50e to go in to Launch, not sure it even does, still brutally fast w/o

Is the gauge showing 500+ hp?

I just got my 2024X 5 and I can’t get the steering wheel to light up green. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve taken it out on the highway a few times to try to get it to drive and I can’t get that green, steering wheel icon to glow green.

Does this car have Expression Mode in the sounds menu?

Fun feature but only works if you have an Apple phone.

Hi, your videos are very helpful! One question, do you feel the weight of the car while making turns (specially compared to the non-e/standard models if you have had them before)? Also, any comments regarding the overall performance compared to the non hybrid models? Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I find the option to be a bit annoying in that it requires you to have your hands on the wheel. If there was a way to disable requirement then I'd definitely use it more often. The first time I tried it, those green lights on the steering wheel flashed yellow then went to red and initiated an emergency stop...in the middle of the road. Turned the emergency stop feature off but apparently there is no way to disable the hands on requirement. If I'm going to have my hands on the wheel then I'm just going to drive myself.

Is 52 typical for city driving? I assume highway would be less, more like 40?

It definitely seems like the 50e is quite a bit faster in electric mode than the 45e. I don't really care for the interior dash layout though, prefer the more integrated design on the older 45e. Also the 45e has the dedicated buttons for A/C and the favorites shortcut buttons
