My Mistake Flying FPV For the First Time | First FPV Flight
Просмотров 7 тыс.8 месяцев назад
My first FPV flight did not go as planned. Even after 15 hours practicing in the simulator. After flying DJI Mavic for two years, I finally decided to go all in on FPV. In this video, I talk about what gear I got and why, then I show you my experience flying for the first time, where my skills are now, and lastly I'll give you some info I wish I knew when getting started. Huge thanks to Ty for ...

Where do you the film ? What film does it take ?
Ive got a Minolta 7000 and it wont rewind. The gears won't release to allow the film to rewind. Everything else works. I've sacrificed a roll of film to investigate. no luck
Does it have extra UART for connecting a nano gps?
2024?
Was he watching the feed on an iPhone?
Yup!
@@ArtYari_ how did you get that to work?
I connect the phone to the goggles using a USB C to lightning (USB C on iPhone 15 but mine is a 13 so it's lightning) and then open the DJI Fly app. In a moment they will connect and tap the blue button in the bottom right corner. That's it! Works on iPad and Android as well.
you did better then me i flew threw my window on my first flight lol xd
I've heard throwing the drone out the window usually doesn't work very well lol
7:55 I see what you did there xD
Hehehehehe
damn clean bro what color are the rims?
I'm surprised you were comfortable flying over the highway its pretty dicey especially with distracting drivers
A lot of people are really in their own bubble when driving. I seriously doubt any drivers noticed the drone unless it came into their direct line of sight. But after posting this video I learned it's best practice to just avoid traffic.
Getting smoother tho ⚡️
Still have a long way to go!
Great video bro.
Thanks!
Sick edit, awesome ride.
Thank you!
The fact he says angled mode when its self peveling mode lol
But it says angle mode in BetaFlight as well as the sim and also in the goggles.
Dude the Analog Vid you put in isnt even close to what you realy see in analog goggles xd the lense is out of focus big time as Steele said himself and DVR recordings are always worse in quality then the real deal :D no front on you just making things clear xd analog has its pros and cons so dji does
Oh really? I’ve seen a few clips of analog and they don’t look too great. I didn’t realize this one was worse than the others. Being completely honest, I just searched for some footage and decided to use this one. Kind of shows that I truly have never used analog lol I know there are several benefits to flying analog, but I really wanted to go with the 03 to have the most clear feed in the goggles I could get. Also, I like the fact that 03 can record at a decent quality without needing to add on a GoPro.
Turned out really well. Good job.
Thanks - I appreciate that!
I didn't know I had RUclips premium 😳
Welcome 😎
That's pretty sick.
Thank you!
yyooo thats a slap, This would make me want to cop a Gladiator to be off road ready haha
I know you're prepping for the apocalypse haha
Any questions or feedback is welcomed - drop a comment!
i wouldnt call it the perfect micro...its super slow and heavy...its decent for a heavy micro cinewhoop but its extremely underpowered and heavy if youre looking for acro or freestyle flights. great for slow vids not great for ripping. not being negative, just want to make sure ppl that havent flown it know what to expect if theyre looking at one. theres better options for ripping for sure
Oh yeah, I agree about that! That’s why I mentioned it feels like the drone doesn’t want to rip, but it is still fun to try ripping it. Slow flying is where this drone feels comfortable.
What do you recommend for removing the DarkStar20 propeller? :)
I have no idea. Actually this is one of my concerns. It’s not completely obvious how to remove the props.
I think you should check out Flywoo's Flylens 57\85. It's really good.
I would be down if they sent me one lol
Darkstar20 is way better than the cinelog20. Ive crashed the Darkstar20 full speed into a metal pole. No damage. The cinelog20 broke a prop gaurd landing on grass softly. Also its super loud. The geprc 500mah recommended batteries gives up 5-8 minutes its weird. For indoors fun get a hummingbird v3 its cheap
How different are the flight characteristics between the Darkstar20 and Cinelog20?
@ArtYari_ cinelog20 is definitely faster and more acrobatic. If it wasn't so fragile it would be on top. The Darkstar20 is a durable cruiser.
I can concur on the prop guards on the cinelog 20. T they were originally designed for quads that half it's weight and power. You'll break one of those things bouncing on the grass and won't know it until you are flying and the quad starts to behave unpredictably from the prop hitting the guard.
For this drone equipped with the DJI O3, do you need a suitable mask to have video feedback or does an Eachine type receiver do the trick?
I believe Eachine is analog so that wouldn’t work with dji air unit since it’s digital.
yeah with O3 you need DJI goggles v2 or newer.
I just order mine. I hope I like lol. I was also thinking about getting the Cinelog 20 instead. 😂
Hope you get it soon! Their shipping takes a good while.
I have fun with this drone. But there are some other ones the same size that take more than a 2s. I kind of wonder if I made the wrong decision jumping on this one when it first came out. But I do love flying in places you wouldn't think of with your bigger drones.
Yup, that's exactly how I felt too. Kind of wish I did get one with a 4s.
@@ArtYari_ But the one that probably gets the greatest reviews is the flywoo flylens 85 and now the 75 just came out. That one is 2s also and I don't think I've seen a bad review.
Ok you should NEVER CHASE CARS ON A PUBLIC ROAD IF YOU ARE FIRST TIME FLYING IN REAL LIFE.
This video makes FPV look non intimidating considering it would be fun to fly in my house 🏠
It could be as long as you practice flying indoors. Personally I have no experience flying indoors so I struggled a lot.
Same for me, couldn't fly it indoors, but then again, I'm not that skilled yet lol. Really fun flying it outdoors though, doesn't intimidate people too
Beta Fpv meteor is really good indoors, I take it outside when the wind isn’t crazy but a blast around the yard.
I love this drone outside, it's really fun and isn't loud! Indoors is a completely different story for me. Every single indoor flight resulted in a crash. Pretty durable though lol.
What was the ELRS issue you mentioned in the beginning?
I couldn't connect the drone to the radio and I thought it was because they were on two different versions, so I updated ELRS on my radio. But apparently you can't update from 2.x to 3.x directly without a partitioner first, so I ended up bricking my radio. When I finally got it fixed, I couldn't bind the radio to my other drone and had to update that one as well. Basically, if you plan to update ELRS, look it up first.
i've spent 23 mins in the simulator & on how i was able to get the flow of it slightly, id think this drone would fit me best as a start 😂, vibe video broski, would like to see an update video on your skills with this drone 4 - 6 months later!
I honestly thought it wouldn't be that hard to fly indoors but I was so wrong. I need more practice and maybe an update video a few months down the line is a possibility!
looking back this journey is still top peek wild ⚡️
I can't believe it was already more than a year ago
Dude! Stop taking off so near to people. If the big ones take off from the ground, and habe being flyng since always, why did you think it is?
This is why real drone pilots hate Dji cucks like this. You’re ruining the hobby for everyone and gonna end up hurting other people.
Check nuts and screws before first flight and you can’t lan it vertically, come in low and slow and disarm. Easier if you’re pointing at something.
That's a good tip. Coming from DJI drones, I'm so use to landing vertically since that's how those work.
So much fun to watch your progression.Nicely done.Keeps putting out videos man.Have Fun.Most importantly fly safe.
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Great ego free video.
Rookie mistake with the nut not tight enough. Happens to the best of us. Good luck with your nazgul, great drone!
Thanks! Definitely the kind of thing someone more experienced would spot.
bruh.. super excited for you but...smh this is the reason we are going to have remote ID please for the love of fpv if you're new, DO NOT FLY AROUND SOFT TARGETS!!
Even if you were experienced.... flying a 700g + fpv drone that close to uninvolved people and cars is irresponsible. One mistake, pilot or mechanical, and your in serious trouble. I do actaully like your content btw! Just be responsible 😊
trust me, I definitely learned my lesson lol glad you liked the video!
😋 "promo sm"
This is the most accidentally punk IDGF flight I have ever seen hahaha. Like he does some crazy irresponsible shit and isn't even aware. Props on you man, next time hide your face
yeah keep going bro 🔥 🔥
Im sorry but this video is an example of what not to do as an fpv pilot, please absolutely rethink your approach to safe flying and general do's and donts of this hobby, its examples like this that change the kaws and ruin the hobby for everyone
You picked a good drone, nazguls a great starter drone and you will use it well beyond your beginner phase and probably come back to it even when you build or buy others.. i still use my original nazzy.. although now its a mutant all dif motors/prints , entire setup heh
That's good to hear! I also picked up a cinewhoop recently to cover the slow flying/indoors so I feel like I'll be set for a while.
This is great. I'm in the same boat that you are in where I was flying DJI cinematic drones for 3 to 4 years and switched to FPV. I started with the Avata a few months ago and that was very easy to learn and I just added a GEPRC Cinelog 20 and that has required a lot more learning, especially with Betaflight and getting everything to work. I think I have spent more time trying to figure out how to trouble shoot everything than I have flying. I did gain some confidence with building a though because I dismantled the entire drone trying to figure out when it wasn't working properly. I was able to reassemble it and get it working, so now I want to try building my own. I've been using the Tryp FPV simulator which has been very helpful and now can fly the Cinelog 20 outdoors and indoors with no much problem. I just need to get more smooth with the motion. One thing I want to try and do is level out the camera more for those interior fly throughs to get better angles with certain areas. Keep it up!
Woah we really are in the same boat! I recently picked up the GepRC DarkStar20 to fly indoors and in tight places since I also shoot real estate. Kind of wish I got the CineLog20 though since that one runs on a 4s instead of 2s and more importantly has dampening. I went through a lot of trouble trying to get the DarkStar running properly and definitely spent more time troubleshooting than flying. Actually, I've only done about three batteries on it. Turns out flying slow is a whole different skillset in itself. I also picked up Tyrp a bit ago since they have more subjects you could follow and I wanted to practice that, but I found myself going back to Uncrashed more than Tryp.
I'll have to check out Uncrashed. Tryp has been good for the freestyle learning and recently I found a way to practice indoor close quarters flying, but it's tough to gauge how similar it is to real flights. The CineLog20 is great, but the dampening doesn't help too much. I still break the prop guards often and it's to the point where I don't repair them until they really need it. I am curious what battery charger you use. I have an ISDT Smart Charger and all of a sudden it won't discharge batteries and instead just gives an error message. I may need to get a different one based on what I have seen online.
@@BigCackWHS2004 I use the HOTA D6 Pro. Was going to include it in the video but I felt it got too long so I cut a bunch of stuff. The dampening should help reduce jello in the footage.
@@ArtYari_ Ah I got you. I was thinking the dampening was the bumpers on the outside of the prop guards lol. Thanks. I have an ISDT charger, but that somehow already crapped out on me and was contemplating the HOTA D6 Pro.
Fpv is my hobby But I can't afford to buy it😅
There is no way I would have been flying around people with a 5 inch nazgul on my first flight. Hell I've got like 30 flights now and I still wouldn't do it. I know people in the comments been beating you up about safety but you should definitely take it a bit more seriously. Drone will literally wreck someone, seems like you should have got a cinewhoop =D
Maybe pinch the controllsticks with 2 fingers
I have tried that in the sim but coming from DJI drones and video games, the pinch just feels really strange to me.
I'm going to introduce a friend to flying FPV acro. Both of us will be wearing goggles, mine on direct connection, hers on spectator. I have set up buddy boxing where I can give her the four main controls so I can hopefully rescue any problems. To my mind, this will be the best way.
That sounds pretty solid - I had no idea you could do something like that! Has she had any time in the sim yet?
@@ArtYari_Nope, none. Yesterday we were doing some line of sight flying in the auto level mode so she could get a feel for the throttle. Tomorrow she goes under the goggles with me for her first acro lesson!
@@Caroline_Tyler That sounds awesome! Are you planning to make any videos of it?
