Wonder if Madame Giry comes and gives the cue? Is it new???
There was a video of this particular scene that posted here as well, in which the lasso broke shortly after Erik put it on Raoul, resulting in the latter sing while lying on the floor.
It's brilliant how they covered the incident. I remember a story from the original Toronto production where one of the Angel's supporting rods broke while descended, and Colm Wilkinson as the Phantom was stuck with no way to get down.
Saw it for the first time with my partner, they have seen it so many times, I grew up on the 2004 movie and watching YT stage recordings! To see it finally with my favourite person was utterly spellbinding! 🖤🌹
Why does it spark? Isn’t the point of the auction scene to tell us that the ‘electric light’ was new, and that the workshops had just wired it?
that’s when phantom gets angry at christine not during the auction
@@bookishmaria_ You’re not quite understanding. Think about it. The auction scene is set long after Christine has died, ‘Some of you may recall the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera,’ and then as the chandelier rises, we go back in time during the overture. So if the electric light is ‘new’ as it is said to be in the auction scene, how can we then see it spark when we wind the clock back? It would have been gas powered. It wouldn’t have sparked. Incidentally; it never sparked during the crash before, until the production was replaced with the touring production.
It sparks in the same way these characters just burst into songs. It's theater In all seriousness, I doubt safety guidelines would just allow these set piece chandeliers to just spout out flames above an audience.
I saw this on Saturday for the first time ever and I was so mesmerised. I will always have this engraved in my memory❤
Joe Griffiths brown just doesn’t do it for me, his acting is just so lacklustre
Why is it missing a light orb? 0:00
Jon pulled out all the stops for this performance, saw him 20th January for my 18th FANTASTIC
Please upload every song that you have! <3
masterpiece!!!
I saw this today with my fiancée
Amazing. Please ❤ all ask of you ❤❤❤❤❤
gosh i went earlier this month and it was the best thing i’ve ever seen
Ohhh Thank you very much. All that's missing is all i ask of you ❤❤❤❤
Yes I need all I ask of youuu ❤❤ And wandering child 🔥
Angel of Music. ❤ Thank you your recordings are fantastic. 💖💖
Was this broadway or the west end?
West End :)
Thank you Frances! Can you also upload some videos with Lily Kerhoas?
Is it just the new cameras or does the show look a lot brighter than how it was?
The cameras are better at capturing how it really looks (although it’s still not 100% accurate, Broadway shows are so very beautiful in person). I’ve been many of broadway shows and they’re always very bright and beautiful.
Everything is indeed much brighter. Result of the 2021 changes, I´m afraid. And awfully fast tempo! I also miss the shiny black floor.
@@pablocapuchino7839 I believe you’re wrong. Broadway shows have always been bright. And the floor has scratches on if from people dancing on it 6+ times a week since 1988.
@@cluelessandcurious5277 I believe it is you who are wrong. I work in the industry and can assure you it’s not the case. What Hal Prince wanted for Phantom was a dark black box with drapes. The lighting for the original POTO production is quite dark. The current production of Les Mis (London, US tour, Japan…) is also incredibly dark. Much darker than Phantom.
@@cluelessandcurious5277 and no. The floor was replaced in 2021. It used to be a shiny black floor. Now it’s much more matte.
Please, give us more. 😍
Did they update the Chandelier?!
Good thing the Phantom has a magnetised portcullis as a backup to the Punjab Lasso! Seriously though, this was sooooo hard to watch! That five minutes must have seemed like an ETERNITY for everyone involved! (No scene transitions, no other way/s of making the scene "work", etc).
Jon is clearly talented and has a good singing voice. But he doesn't show the emotions the Phantom is supposed to be going through. The Phantom is supposed to be angry and jealous here. I don't get that from his performance
I love the jester because he’s so cute, funny, kind, hilarious, and playful!!!!
bro fuck whatever loser went to see Phantom of the Opera live and didn't turn their cellphone off 😭
wow it's like someone directed the show from memory...without actually knowing the show that well.
Ahh thank you so much I love this!! Do you have Lily Kerhoas doing think of me?
I LOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEE THE PART WHERE JOE IMMEDIATILY KNEW WHAT JON WAS DOING. I mean he did not know why but he just went with it and acted fast 👋
Probably rehearsed or discussed when something doesn't work
I’m impressed at how many times you’ve recorded these, gotten away with it, and have succeeded to make me happy on the random days you post. Thank you for this Frances
Hello Frances! You post very high quality parts. Thanks! Isn't this London performance also included?
Thank you so much! I always look forward to your uploads!
Woah! It's so different from the pre revival choreography, barely the same scene.
Well please tell him that this American was blown away by his voice. I texted my friends and told them that this phantom is electrifying and if I lived in London I’d have to make it a monthly date.
Did you film the whole show from this angle😍🙏
AMAZING 🤩
Thank you very much from Germany. Your videos are great. Do you also have All I Ask of You or Think of Me? ❤❤
Lovely! Thank you so much! 😍
I have to say when he sang Christine so quietly I still love you broughtv a tear to my eye.
JR top performer in all that he does.
I literally would be laughing I be like oh crap lol
and to think that Cameron Mackintosh tried so hard to get rid of this moment..
He did? Why? I'm curious, this was so spectacular!
i had the opportunity to see phantom 3 times in july, and i saw eve and chumisa as christines, and both of them were just amazing! i’ll miss chumisa, but definitely eve deserves this role!! ❤
WOW! Thanks for posting this - one of the best POTO bloopers!! Who knew that Raoul has a magnetic personality!!! Joe handles this perfectly!!! But how does a candle release a magnet? I would have preferred if the Phantom yanked him by the arm and threw him across the stage!
Madam Giry is too prominent in the choreography, like,,, why????
Interesting how The Phantom drops thru a trap door on the stage after snatching Christine’s necklace. On Broadway it was merely smoke and distraction by the other actors as he disappeared stage right.
He drops into the trapdoor on bway as well. I assume the trapdoor was broken when you saw it. It happens a lot.
@@JamesOttman After I posted this I read elsewhere that they quit using the trapdoor on BWay due to frequent problems with it and one Phantom was injured. Not sure of the accuracy of that. We saw it in Feb last year before it closed on Bway. When I saw it in 2000 for the first time I can’t recall how he disappeared.
Why's it feel so rushed
@gemtachataj6119 It's rushed since the reopening after the big c. The whole show is now faster/shorter. I hate it too. :(
Yes I felt the ending to be very rushed when I saw it in London this year too
@@AmintaDaxbut do you know why it’s rushed? The virus had nothing to do with the length of the show and it’s upsetting me. They changed so much! Also why does the title song begin with a loud straight chord. It used to be very subtle and staccato with Michael Crawford and Sarah brightman! 😢
Finally this happening in a modern day POTO (The first one captured was I believe the one with Ian Jon Bourg)
That happenwd when I saw it in May! What date is this performance?
Thank you so much Frances
Thank you!!
They managed to recover the blip well!
