The problem is Mavericks are practically contact weapons with directional charges most AA missiles are proximity with HE and massive shrapnel.

U were not able to lock ppl from behind cuz u were in headon mode 😅

pd mode in the radar, while much more chaff resistant, does not work if the target is at the same speed relative to you, making it very hard to lock from behind. that being said, the f4j radar is god awful and it only gets better from there, i think. also for when the missile tracks without your lock, your radar spillof keeps the missile on target, if your lock is chaffed dont delock the chaff as it could still guide the missile into target

For PVE Assault Air Arcade it is a funking great tactics, but for actual fights, it only works if the target is going on a somewhat straight line

Aim-9Es are actually pretty good, only the Aim-9J has more situations that it can be used in, while the Aim-9E is limited in some aspects. I wouldnt call it rubbish tho...

i still do this with drones and helis, but i used to always do this with the mavs back when the Mig-29 got added used to work fairly well now i only use it in grb

AGM 65 is one of the heavier AGM’s, something like the brimstone or some of the russian ones are lighter and faster although they are laser guided like Sarah missiles rely on radar guidance

The mind games you can play with AGMs… love using laser guided ones against people who just fly in a straight line while flaring. Great for making people waste countermeasures. Mavericks are sort of a bad choice because, even among AGMs, they have some of the worst maneuverability and energy retention. You have to wait until people are slow most of the time.

In my A-10 I took out a Tornado's tail controls with the gun but only counted as a critical hit and he wasn't crashing but couldn't maneuver. He was still too fast to catch and I was out of AIM-9s when I remembered this video and actually secured the kill with an AGM-65D.

As a sim fanatic, we have had to deal with zombie bombers this event and our favorite way of getting rid of them, since they predominantly fly allies, is to use the Kh-29T/TE/TD as an air to air missile that is Un-Flareable and fire and forget. The Vkhyr also has a proximity fuse so the Su-25T (especially the 39 with its Kopyo radar) are amazing at this. Personally, I make use of the Su-17M4, Su-39, and Su-24 for this role

the correct way to use the agm65 is to shoot at planes that are taking off or have landed

When i had the f5e i realised the agm and tested it and every time they went to there airfield i shot my agm dogfighting is bad so stay fast and high and its very funny some people get very very mad

I've been doing this since the a10 came out. No rwr warning and there is no indicator when one is launched unlike air to air missles. Use em in head ons from 6-10km out and enjoy

Back before all the BR hikes, I frequently took out A-10s with those AGMs. The Warthogs were fixated on ground pounding, and more often than not, they had no clue a Maverick was coming their way. *front aspect, and sometimes rear-aspect, from alt.

I've done this before many times. The best way to do this is to wait until the enemy is climbing and stalling out. Then fire the AGM and they're going slow enough to where they cant outpull it and their flares wont do anything about it.

I always carry Kh-25ML with Su-39 and any other planes that has FLIR lock capability. kh25ml is supprisingly maneuvers well and is fast.

I do this against tornados in my su 17m4 with the kh 29td missile, works like a treat

this is my actual strat and it works so well against base bombers and slow people once you run out of 9j's 😭😭😭

I did that with a Laser missle in a French jaguar once. I found that it is by far the easiest, when they are in a dogfight and go vertical with no airspeed. You get far more kills when you watch aut. for that

for some reason laser guided missiles are affected by flares and I cant figure out why.

How do you unlock from a target after locking with agms

Basically slow aim9b with IRCCM

tip for such aircrafts; you can split cannon use, this way you artificially have twice as much ammo (at the price of half as much burst mass)

the 12.3 su25 has the best agms for that the 11.7 one has 16 agms but you need to manually set the lead so it doesn't miss, and it has proxy fuse, but even after making the adjustment you must keep looking at the enemy (its beam guided) and that always kills me
