Going back to Vietnam would only get me in trouble. I'd try to say things in Vietnamese. In the little that I recall. So saying "You come here," or "You go this way to the river" or "Chau co dep qua," would proly not be very useful these days.

My team A-212 from the 1st SF Gp on Okinawa was TDY to MAAG-SOG in 1964. Our mission was classified and we used only Nung troops. We established Long Thanh in the early 60s and we lost a good man, SFC Dominick Sansone when their aircraft, a C-123 crashed into Monkey Mountain at Da Nang. when transporting a team of Nung Troops to their target destination.

What a difference a half century can make.

My husband was from this unit. Never talked about it and still don’t say much. I understood brotherhood through him and I said that he is my hero and honor his service then and today in a different life mission giving himself not for the Country but to family member that needs him daily. A man of honor that I love. He said he never met Jerry but he was a legend. Thank you all military that makes this Country be great… if politicians don’t destroy it. 🌟🙏🏼🌟🙏🏼🌟🙏🏼🌟
