Swan River & Perth Metro fishing from a different perspective...
ALWAYS do this at Point Walter! | Swan River Flathead
Ep 13 - Swan River Snapshots - Flathead Season is upon us once again, and I FINALLY get a chance for a quick cast, after meeting Uncle Matt at Point Walter Jetty. I have a superstition at Point Walter - ALWAYS have a cast off the jetty, no matter what I’m there for. Will it hold true? Check it out!
ABOUT THE SERIES:
In Swan River Snapshots, I move around the mighty Swan River, fishing brief sessions. Not every angler has hours to spend, so my hope for this series is to chuck in a line when I can, narrow my focus and answer some questions that our magnificent river has left me with.

Ep 12 - Swan River Snapshots ONE FISH WONDER - It seems the closer I get to 1000 subscribers, the busier my schedule gets! I’ve had next to no time to get out on the Hobie for a fish, so I’m setting myself a challenge. One fish. Yep, one single tailor. I’m heading down to Canning Bridge to troll some Double Clutches. I have one eye on my watch, and hopefully the tailor cooperate! ABOUT THE SERI...

UPPER SWAN INVESTIGATION PART 2 (Swan River Snapshots, Episode 11) - The results of a recent poll have led me to check out the Upper Swan in detail. Last week, I fished from the banks with the family, This time, I’m on the Tarpon Kayak. Due to a busy schedule, I’ve only got an hour to fish, so I’ve headed to Garratt Road Bridge to chase Black Bream amongst the pylons. Check it out! Part 1 Here:...

Ep 11 - Swan River Snapshots - UPPER SWAN INVESTIGATION PART 1 - The results of a recent poll have led me to check out the Upper Swan in detail. I’ve separated fishing this location into two types - land-based, family fishing and specialist fishing from the kayak. This is the former. This is Part 1 - I’m heading down to my usual Upper Swan spot with the kids to chase bream to see if the Upper S...

Ep 10 - Swan River Snapshots Fishing - CASING THE CANNING RIVER - I have a few challenges planned on the Swan, but they involve me kayaking parts of it I haven’t been on for ages. Therefore, fishing’s taking a back seat to exploration this week, as I hop in the trusty Red Devil Tarpon and set out to survey the Canning River. Of course, I simply HAVE to take a rod, so if I achieve my exploration...

Ep 9 - Swan River Snapshots - LAZY, BUT NOT BY CHOICE! - An old injury has flared up, leaving me virtually immobile for a couple of weeks. Apologies for the absence, but I was able to get out and film a couple of sessions. Unfortunately, those sessions were filmed from my camp chair as the only fishing I could do was Bait and Wait! I headed down to the Upper Swan to try and answer a questions t...

WHAT SQUIDDING REALLY LOOKS LIKE - Life is getting in the way again, leaving me with no time for my usual editing process. Therefore, I’ve decided to do something I’ve been thinking about for ages - upload a session in its ENTIRETY. Swan River Tailor on VIBES?

Ep 8 - Swan River Snapshots - VIBING! - My son J came back from the shops the other day, and plonked a packet of lures down in front of me. He’d bought them with his own money and laid down a challenge - for me to catch a Swan River Tailor on the lures. One problem - they’re vibes - sinking vibes. Not ideal for tailor. I’ve never used vibes when targeting them before, preferring my trusty Daiwa...

FATHER-SON SQUID! - J has never caught a squid, and a favourable forecast, coupled with our new tandem kayak, has given us a window to change that! We’re heading down to Fremantle to fish for squid off the kayak, and J is VERY excited. It proved to be an awesome session and squid after squid smashed our Shimano Sephia jigs, with J ticking off another goal, and me getting a faceful of ink. The u...

EP 7 - Swan River Snapshots - SNAPSHOTS ARE BACK! - After what seems like months, I’m back on the Swan River, indulging my curiosity. This week, I’m after tailor. However, I want to try something different. Rather than to my usual method of searching for schools using birds and bust-ups, I’m fishing the flats near Applecross, Attadale and Alfred Cove, areas I don’t usually target Tailor. I’m on...

Nice work landing that Flatty around the jetty 🤩🎣💯
Cheers mate. Not a young man anymore 🤣
Looking forward to getting into some flattys this summer mate. My rule is to not change lures, go to the toilet, look at your phone, change rods or anything else when a good fish bite has kicked off. Great vid as always!
@wingitmissionfishingoutdoo6647 Yep, I can relate strongly to this! Don't do anything except exactly what you did when the bite started! Thanks for watching mate.
Flatties are popping off again mate that's for sure! 🎣🎣
Yeah mate hope to get on a few in the next few sessions. Might run into you sometime 👍🎣
Just good too see you back out there mate, beaut of a flat fish 🎣✅
Hey Jack, thanks for watching mate. Was great to get back out there and reel something in. Hopefully a few more to come! 🎣👍
Nice catch mate, nice flathead. 🎉🎉 true always cast whenever there is a jetty or whenever I go close to shore. Hehe always have my rod in my car. 😊😊😊
Cheers Chris! Yep got a collapsible rod that lives in my glove box just in case!
hey man beauty of a vid. couldn't agree more with the superstitions. I don't usually let the old man move any of my gear
Cheers mate! Yeah I'm pretty particular with my gear as well!
Always wanted a kayak
Good fun for sure 👍
Yeah buddy 💯🎣
Cheers! Little fella loved it 🐟👌
Nice mate
Cheers mate!
I love these videos and can’t wait for more content!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video mate
@MrLeminhman Cheers mate!
Great vid.. know i'm a bit late to comment but I was just wondering what conditions weather wise are good for going on the beach with the kayak. Keep it up 👍
Thanks for watching mate! I tend to err on the side of caution/safety - I usually look for low winds (under 10 knots) and swell so I can launch from the beach easier. Since I usually chase squid and smaller fish inshore, I try to get out on clearer days with good water clarity, but depends what you're after. It comes down to what you're comfortable with - I could go out on windier days but isn't really worth getting washed around 🤣. Cheers again
Very relaxing, thanks mate
Cheers mate!
Great video as always mate, thanks for sharing your thoughts as well
Thanks for watching mate!
saw ur comment and wanted to check your channel out keep it up!
@Masonq25 Thanks mate! Much appreciated!

Great video mate! Good to see you out there mate, those little trips out make a big difference. Wishing all the best to the family mate
@DangasTackleTips Thanks for the wishes mate - definitely good for the mind being out on the water 👍🐟
Mate I feel for you, if I miss a week of no beach or boat time my mental health is in all sorts 😅 glad you got your hour, your squid and unwind time. Take it easy and I hope life calms down a little soon 🎣✅
Thanks for the well wishes mate. Definitely feel a bit better now 👍😁
Nice one mate, good to see you back.
Cheers Andy - good to be back!
Sick vid brother, really like your content 😊❤
Thanks mate! Much appreciated 👍🐟
what lure?? also do you recommended mules of canning bridge
@@lucassellwood Hey mate, I had a couple of Daiwa Double Clutches (one silver and one red). Mulies off Canning Bridge would work at dawn or night, but there are a lot of blowies that would shred bait during the day.
what lure???
@@lucassellwood One rod had a double clutch and I think the other had a Zman Slim Swimz
Nice brother
Cheers mate
@@dfjmadventures can’t wait to see some tailor on the troll. You should try in the shallows next to Como jetty, plenty of big tailor around there
@BkfishButnotforthedish-og7fi Looking forward to getting back on the river - hopefully a session coming soon!
i live in Melbourne VIC and i have noticed in lakes and areas where fishing is prohibited there is an abundance of carp especially in albert park lake where only certain areas of the lake prohibit fishing even though the biggest carp around a meter long usually live there do you think i should contact someone in the Victorian fishing authority about this or just leave it because after all it's just lakes that are usually not connect to any river source so what would you do?
Hey mate. Came across your videos and loved it. Just subscribed! I’m thinking of bringing my girl and little nephews to that landbased spot for some fun family fishing. May I ask which part of the Garratt Road Bridge is that spot located? How can I access it? Hope you reply 🙏🏽
Hey mate, thanks for watching. The area in this vid is actually Guildford - I fish a decent stretch of riverbank along there near Lilac Hill. It's accessible, great for kids and produces more often than not (not exactly monsters, but fun for the kids). It can get a bit of use during good conditions, and sometimes I do need to trek up and down the bank to find the fish. Good luck!
@@dfjmadventures Thanks for the reply lad! Will definitely give it a try
Hey bud, in your opinion when do you think is the best time to tailor in the swan? been trying for a while but never really manage to get anything worthwhile. any tipe would be greatly appreciated!
Hey mate, thanks for watching. I try to fish close to sunrise or sunset depending on what type of fishing I'm doing. It's all about finding the schools if I'm on the yak, as they shift around - I look for circling birds and the like. If I'm landbased or stuck for time, I head to places like Canning Bridge where I know schools frequent. As for the time of year, I've had my best results in the river around summers/autumns, but I've caught them at all times of the year in varying sizes or quantities - they can be a bit on the small side though! I do tend to avoid the colder months - I focus more on squid and bream. Double clutch is my go-to lure - rarely misses when the fish are around. Hope this helps - good luck!
And also, let's be honest once more. Aussie natives aren't the greatest fish to fish for
Whilst carp aren't good. Humans are damaging the waterways 100x more. Carp probably do 1% of the damage, but it's an easy scapegoat. And let's be honest, until we stop a certain religion releasing 1000s of non native fish as part of their beliefs and the upcoming Tilapia invasion will make carp look good...
Agree that carp are a minor problem compared to a lot of others our waterways face. We do have a lot of problems!
hey mate sorry for the unrelated question but I have been looking at getting a hobie kayak and just wanted to pick your brains about how you have found yours treating you since getting it?
Hey mate, thanks for watching! The hobie's been great since I got it. Given it's a smaller version, it's perfect for my preferred methods of fishing (river and shallow ocean). Handles well, it's light and easy to load and pretty zippy. I will be upgrading the rudder at some point though - not sold on the current one. In short, I'm happy with it cause it fits my needs, and I was able to find a good deal for it so I didn't break the bank. Hope this helps!
@@dfjmadventures cheers mate it does and I appreciate the feedback yeh by the sounds of it and the research I have done online I'm thinking its a solid choice for what I'm looking for thanks again
