I think that there’s a fashion society, there’s like 120 societies I think! Dublin City it is very fine unless it’s late at night in a weird area, but on campus it’s always super fine and a great atmosphere!!!

It’s quite a multicultural city close to mainland Europe where English is spoken (so quite a few people can understand English). And it also has the euro as a currency which is quite convenient for any European and Irish people are regarded as really welcoming, open and friendly so why not!!

Good question! Mainly just: “I like Maths but not enough to study Pure Math”. And I wanted to feel like modules were different in terms of content and skills required. I had also done physics before and it seemed like it could be cool to see what it was like at uni level. Also because I feel like Physics allows me to gain many diverse skills; mathematic complexity, applying to real world and learning how to code and analyse data as well as learn about computational and modelling (specially in my Astrophysics route)

Hey!!! Passion yeah but not too productive hahaha. Thank you so much for that : ) It’s quite a special campus! And the atmosphere is really interesting sharing classes with Irish and other international classmates!! Love the fact that there’s people from many places within and outside Ireland and still feels like a small community as we aren’t many people in the course!

After those exams trust me that there’s no energy left for anything other than catching up on sleep. I also flew to the UK to visit my girlfriend so I could still have some Guinness over there 😂

Oh, because there’s no option to do so. It doesn’t really exist. While in England an MPhys is 4 years (3 of undergraduate and 1 of masters), in Ireland we have 4 years of undergraduate known as a “bachelor of honours” in which we have a Capstone (Final Degree) Project in the first semester of 4th year. So in Ireland it is decently common for people to finish the undergrad and go directly into the PhD. I however would maybe prefer to do a so called “research masters” that is a 2 year programme that allows one to get a few years of taste of how a PhD would be and provide some more preparation for later on! I will most probably not take a gap year because I can’t stand not working towards something and making advances. Hope that answers the question : )

@@MarioFabelo Last time, I talked with a representative of TCD who visited University of Luxembourg during my study abroad. They encouraged me to do a master's degree at TCD then join a PhD directly, because they don't offer the MRes option that other lower ranked Irish universities have (I am saying that jokingly). Where are you planning to do your PhD? Have you considered to work in industry or for a museum in astrophysics? I always wondered if these museums carry some research.

Yeah, Trinity’s Masters are just 1 year long. I have no idea about where or about what will I be doing my postgraduate studies. I know a very well recognised Professor who worked at the American Museum of Natural History Astrophysics department in New York and yeah they do carry out great research! They are kind of research institutes!

@@MarioFabelo This sounds awesome! If I can give you advice, don't leave if they don't provide visa sponsorship or they don't sign any legal documents including work contract. I know from experience that most research institutes in New York are quite shady about money.

Hey! Sorry for the late response! From what I read it sounds like you have definitely given thought to it so it is just a matter of whether you want it enough and are willing to go through the tough times and the good times in the process of self studying Further! You can definitely do it although it’ll be more challenging than other subjects. However, those are the real opportunities for growth where one works on a subject not because they are forced to but because it comes from you. I would go all in and give it my best go! I had a comment from a person a few years ago in the same situation and he was able to pull it off and got an A* I believe. The only thing in the way is how bad you want to learn more maths that feel more advanced yet valuable and how much you would want to achieve a good grade in it! I recommend you check out MathPhys on RUclips when going over past papers in the case that you are doing CIE! Let me know what you think and how you find it.

I find it quite refreshing! People are very open and from many different places within and outside Ireland! I don’t really know what’s next yet but I know I’ll give it my best : ) College is much better than school personally! You meet cool people with similar interests and feel like you’re actually working towards something one is interested in!

It is a really stunning campus! Very walkable as well although I end up walking way too much during the day lol

This is caused by the Wicklow Mountains and to a lesser extent the Dublin Mountains where most of the rain falls. The Northside of Dublin is the driest part of Ireland."

That’s exactly what my friend Alex (who films my interviews) and I thought when we filmed this video as the second video of a long interview filming day just to have more videos to upload later on during the year! But it turned out to be way more appealing and interesting than any of my other interview videos, becoming my most watched! Recently a person said hi to me on campus and told me that this video was the most helpful to her as you could see real people telling their own stories about their expectations and whether they thought they would make that year’s CAO cut, which I now realise is one of the major worries for anyone applying as every year it varies. So you seriously have a great point about how it seems an absurd video to film at first due to the CAO system being fully score oriented but inside the peel it ends up being more valuable than any of my other interviews! 🤯

Nope. In CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) there is an option to take all 4 Further Math exams in A2 (Y13) and my school did that 😅😂

Entonces Further Stats lo llevé de 10 pero Further Pure 1 y 2 a medias y Further Mechanics literalmente no hice nada hasta la semana antes del examen. Ya fue un milagro que aprobase con una D la verdad 😂
