    Bro, It happens to everyone I guess- I got a C in maths Year 12, which was unfortunate as I had prepared to atleast get a low A, my other subjects were at A- But I genuinely spent too long on paper 2 and then i started stressing and this lead me to rush questions and the A was taken away from me. Its gonna be hard to get a predicted grade of A star, but I genuinely think I can change this around and scrape an A star. Do u have any tips, apart from the general 'past papers, review after each lesson, prepare for all tests etc' ?

    • @MarioFabelo
      @MarioFabelo  2 года назад

      Have you considered resitting/retaking the exams in November? That may be a very solid option.
      You can definitely change it around.
      But yeah, I recommend that you do as many past papers as there are available and that you attempt them in "real exam conditions".
      I think that is my most valuable piece of advice. You prove yourself that you understand all the content at once! It may be misguiding to work only in 1 topic at a time as you need to train the question recognition ability for the actual exam.
      Also, there are lots of RUclips videos and resources. TLMaths is a game changer, a website called "proatuition.blogspot.com" is also quite good. I also did the worksheets from a RUclipsr called "Intuitive".
      *The last two resources are meant for the International A Level but tbh there isn’t really much difference.
      Hope that helps! Let me know any other thing I might be able to help you with : )

    Solid results. Sister got into medicine with AAA. However, lot of universities in UK will not accept a language A level if it is your native language. Have a lot of Chinese British friends who took A level mandarin and could not inculde it in their offer.

      @@yobask8855 No it is because many are native or close to native and A level English is designed for native speakers that you can include but A levels in other languages are aimed at basic second language to learn that language and not in detail. So its like cheating.

      @@yobask8855 No it is. The exams are not aimed at native or almost native speakers. Modern language A levels are just above basic level. Studying a foreign language in UK at Masters level is like Studying A level English or literature. Those are aimed at native speakers to study the language in depth. English gcse is far more complex as a language depth than A level modern languages.

    Bit late here, I'm having my gcse results tomorrow, and I'm choosing maths, further maths, physics; Since you have experience, do you have any tips/advice for further maths? I'm working close to a 9 or on 8 and the gcse maths exams for me were good.

    • @MarioFabelo
      @MarioFabelo  2 года назад

      I am not the most qualified to give Further Maths advice as I couldn’t crack the subject myself. I took 5 A Levels and had to focus on Maths, Physics and Chemistry and did not give Further Maths the amount of time it required.
      However, if you just do 3 A Level subjects you may be able to put the sufficient work in order to get an A or A* without burning yourself out too much.
      You will still have to put long hours into Further Maths and get into doing Past Papers as soon as possible. In the end it is a game and the one that knows the best tricks and that recognises the patterns more quickly is the one that does best.
      Although I did poorly in my exams I did learn a lot and it really helped towards my A Level Maths, for which I put very little work compared to my other subjects as I had the advantage of studying Further Maths.
      Hope you the best of luck tomorrow!! Let me know any other doubt that you may have : )

    • @MarioFabelo
      @MarioFabelo  2 года назад

      I think that the key is understanding, exam-technique and practice. You can try to identify which one of this might be the thing you can improve on.
      Personally sometimes I simply didn’t get it. Other times I didn’t know how to correctly approach a certain question to maximise potential marks and other times with math it was just lack of practice.
      I also struggled at some points throughout the course. Even those that end up getting top grades don’t have it figured out until just a few months before the exam.
      It’s always about not taking it too seriously on yourself and focusing all your efforts into improving your weaknesses instead.
      Let me know any other thing I might be able to help with : )
      P.S. I would recommend you to resit any component you think worthwhile. I personally did a resit in November for Paper 3 and passed from a 34/60 to a 60/60!

    how did you get a in spanish when youre spanish

    • @MarioFabelo
      @MarioFabelo  2 года назад +1

      For the history of my school in Y13 about 60% of the class always got A*’s and the other 40% got A. This year there have been many B’s in Spanish. That I am aware of only 5 people got A* from 31 students that are all native Spanish. It’s as frustrating as it gets as I am Spanish and feel like I did perfectly well and got an 88-A. I am waiting for the remark hoping that I get the 90-A*🤞

    • @Qurann21

      It works the same with english. Plenty people in the uk speak fluent english but not everyone can achieve an A* in it at a level

    • @MarioFabelo
      @MarioFabelo  2 года назад +1

      @@Qurann21 That is true but as a Spanish person I assure you that, except the Texts component, the other 3 are absolutely trivial exams for a Spanish native.
      The level of these components is so low that even the teachers want us to work on a higher level than what is required in the exam to keep us motivated.
      Therefore they teach us at the same level of Spanish schools (C2) which is quite superior compared to the A Level which is about a B2 (don’t think it reaches a C1).
