Allsewnup Textile Art
Великобритания
Добавлен 5 июл 2019
Allsewnup Textile Art is a channel that celebrates textiles as the Art form it is. We look at ways to transfer what you see, shape, colour, texture, form, composition, and line into fabric and thread. It's not about technical ability and straight sewing, it's about looking and observation and using stitches and threads to suit what you see and feel. The content is suitable for all levels as the tutorials will help you with your art. We also look at paintings or works of art in current exhibitions for inspiration but we mostly work from nature and use only a few stitches in our work.
It's a fun channel, where enjoyment is key to success!

How exciting to be preparing for your wedding, especially after COVID spoiling your plans!! I love that you always take a project when you go away, I'm packing some supplies for my trip to Cornwall now. I did laugh tho, I bet your family get nervous when you're casting your eyes around their clothing, looking for just the right addition to a project! I can remember cutting the bottom off my nightie years ago when I'd run out of fabric at my friend's house 🤣 extra points for using the fruit bag 😄 xx
Congratulations on your wedding. You've been having a good time in my home town. Love the project, so colourful and pretty. Useful too, will definitely take something along these lines to work on, on holiday. Lol ❤ x
Thanks for sharing this sweet project. I always enjoy watching and learning from your creative processs!
I really like the idea of cutting away the top fabric to expose all the squares. I must try that. It reminds me of that lovely slashed piece you showed us.i would never have thought of applying the flowers over the squares. I really enjoyed this (as always!). Thankyou x
I do love what you have done here on both sides. It makes a very unique bag. Reminds me of a paper project I had my students do once in school. We cut the top paper away to reveal what colors were glued on the reverse side. Love the mosaic appearance.
O Teresa I’ve missed these videos. I know your a busy lady now. ❤
Took me a while to see where this was going 😊but when all was revealed I absolutely love the fabric you've made. Definitely adding this to my list. Been wanting to use my machine. Reminds me of Klimt for some reason ❤ lol x
❤😊
Teresa, you are so good at translating your inspiration into a design. Unlike me who just starts and see where it takes me but both our works takes on a life of their own. I absolutely love this piece. The circles remind me of rose Windows in cathedrals and churches. Lol ❤ x
Yes, you're right about the circles looking like rose windows. I had nt seen it until now. Our work is very similar even though we get there from different routes. That makes it all so interesting. I can t wait to see your "hole" art work 😁 xx
It was fascinating to see how you progress your project from your original sketch and how you apply the design principles. I will be looking for shapes now, to play around with. I shall write out the design principles and stick them in my sketchbook to remind me!!
Absolutely fabulous!
Thank you so much. It's always lovely to get such a positive comment! 😁
Very impressive project,
Thank you for commenting, Rebecca. I really appreciate it.😃
Glad you're having fun this summer. Time goes by so quickly, it already feels Autumnal in the early mornings. Love this project and I am thinking I will make a journal for my holiday too. You're is so beautiful and reminds me of Folk Art, which I love. Lol ❤ x
Hi J. I've actually got around to replying. The time is flying past. I hope you're keeping well. Keep safe xx
Teresa I absolutely love this, great tip to use the interfacing. Love all your stitches & the netting, the little silver sequins look great too. Have a lovely Summer love to you and the family ❤
Hello Janet! Always so nice to hear from you. The Summer is already vanishing. Life gets so hectic- but it's always fun (well, most of the time 😁) I hope you're having lots of good times, full of inspiration and happiness! 🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚 xx
Nice to see ya .Looks great ❤😊
Lee! So good to hear from you. I hope you're keeping well and enjoying the Summer. Keep safe and happy xx
I love it!
So pleased you like this, Kimcat. It was fun to do especially sitting tucked up in a hotel room! Lol xx
@@allsewnuptextileart I love vintage linens. When ever I go to a thrift store I look for them.I saw the cutest idea for vintage ladies hankies. The person made a valance using them. My friend bought me a scarf made of them, it is very unique. So nice of you to reply to me.
@@kimcat7320That sounds interesting. I have a stack of vintage linens that I'm loathed to cut up but in time they'll just deteriorate. My daughter in law has asked to have them "when I've 'gone' 😮 but there's no point because I am not going anywhere until I am 110 years old - by then those lovely linens will be dust! 😅 I really must be more adventurous with them , thanks for the ideas, Kim. X 🎉
@@allsewnuptextileart I know, I have a huge stack too. I do use the pillow cases on my bed. They are just too pretty not to use. I have a bunch of my grandma's hankies and I do plan to make a valance for my bedroom window. I'm seventy so you know they are old. Here's living to 110!
Oh Teresa I did chuckle when I saw all those boxes ( yes my first thought was did Teresa really eat all those cakes 🤭). I dont know how you come up with all these great ideas! Thankyou for saying youd think about a design lesson. Where Im struggling is when I see something for inspiration, how to translate that without simply copying 🤔 Really hot here too. Im supposed to be digging but might have to postpone that pleasure 🙄 xx
Hi Kath. I thought I'd replied to you weeks ago! Sorry, I obviously did nt. I laughed too, when I read thst you thought I'd eaten all those cakes!! As if, Kath...😂🤣 So pleased you like the videos - I shall stop making them as soon as you stop watching!! Ha, ha! Xx❤️
I think my favourite is the card with the black stitched rose, but I like the way the flowers edged in blanket stitch lie outside their aperture, as this gives the piece the impression of more depth. The denim cloth cover looks very stylish, too!
I really enjoyed this, Gillian. It's simple and can be made with most things you already have. I liked that flower too. I wonder if I should have treated other pages the same way. I hope you're well and keeping safe xx
I love this one Teresa. I'm very preoccupied with holes in my sewing at the moment and this is another way of approaching the idea. So creative lol ❤x
Hello Jacqui ! I'd love to see what you're working on 😊

Hi Vanessa. Lovely to hear from you. I hope your well and enjoying life. Thanks for commenting. Take care.xx
Hi from Australia, I totally get how you feel about chopping up the linens! I’ve been collecting to start slow stitching but I just can’t bring myself to cut them! I love your little bag. At least you can appreciate the work now every time you use the bag 😊
Hi from kent in Uk. You're a long way from where I am. Isn't the internet fabulous - bringing so many of us together? I am actualy next to some of my linens and I am starting to feel that maybe I should give them another life, but it's so difficult to make the first cut!! so pleased you like the bag :-)
@@allsewnuptextileart Hi, yes the internet is great for that. So wonderful we can come together with a common interest. I still haven’t sliced anything yet 😆 I really want to but then the historian in me says no! 😱

Hi Lee, I hope you're keeping well xx
Fabulous❤
Hi Jacqui. I owe you a letter for your gorgeous card. I promise to get around to it this weekend xx
Prends soin toi. Teresa ;-)
I feel inspired to make a messy journal! it's a great way to collate all those random bits that we collect!
It's great fun, Kath. You just can't go wrong. it's just to do 'it' as it comes! lol xx
Love your messy junk journal. ❤
Thank you for your comment Stephanie. It was fun to do. Have a go!! lol
Awesome😊❤
Hello Lee. This was such a lovely project to do with my grandson. The result was very pretty too. x
So sweet❤😊
😊 Thank you Lee xx
So precious and creative!
Thank you for your comment Joani. I really enjoyed this project. It's surprising what can be done in a hotel room!:-)
You must be a mind reader Teresa! Ive fancied making a journal, something like the art inspiration journal you did, so this was of great interest. And i remember one in particular, aligator mouth did you call it? More like this please😘
Ooh, I needed that Kath. I almost did nt publish this video. I was nt too sure if it's what group members want. Phew! 😁 xxCrocodile mouth? Monster mouth sums it up! Lol
Love this journal and the use of old book pages for the signatures. It's so nice that you still have little bits of me on your table, as I do of yours. I'm still enjoying adding to my book. Lol x ❤
Ha, ha! It's quite comforting having bits of friends on my table! 😁 There s something quite personal about it! 😂 xx
Thank you..enjoyed it
Hi Chris. I hope you're well. Thanks for commenting. I was a little anxious about this project x
Hi Teresa, this is just lovely!! I always enjoy projects using both fabric/paper. Really enjoyed watching this beautiful journal come together, so inspiring, many thanks.😍💖🌺
Ah, thanks Maria. I really appreciate it 😁
For some reason watercolors works really well on old book pages!!!
Hi Chloe. I think the paper soaks up the paint. It s really satisfying seeing the paint absorbed into the pape🌹
This turned out so fantastic! Lots of great ideas. Thank you😊❤️
Thanks Helen. That s very kind of you. Now, do it!!😂🤣
Love all you have created beautiful stitching....looks like a fun fun project thx for the beautiful inspiration.
It s quite mindful too. It has to be fun or there s no point in doing it and beside that..I like fun! Ha, ha. 😁
I love the colors you picked for thread it really complements the flowers and look fantastic😊love these machine stitched ones! Love love the look👏🏻

Ha, ha! I had to laugh about the long needles! That s a great move! I hope you're enjoying them as much as I enjoy mine! 😁 😁 xx
Another fab project. I like the way you remind us that we're not copying but being inspired by and that is good advice. And well done for not sneaking in more bling ha ha xx
It looks absolutely fabulous Teresa. What a great use of the fabrics etc... that I sent . The little balls are made from my left over threads jar or 'ort'. I wanted to thank you again for my journal and bits and pieces. I'm working on it as I'm watching your video. Meant to say I especially love the foliage. Never thought you'd be able to make anything out of the disparate pile of stuff I sent you. Your creativity knows no bounds. Lol ❤x
Oooh, I loved those little balls. I have nt tried making them yet but they re on my list. So pleased you're enjoying your journal. The foliage was a joy to do with your fabric - it was just waiting to be cut into clumps of grass! Lol xx

Hi Chloe. So sorry it s taken a while to reply. We have had a disgusting lurgy for almost two weeks. It almost wiped us out😁
I have You tube on in the background. I love listening to old films, Christmas films, Bonanza and history videos. I use YT like a radio! Lol xx
I had my pastors wifes grandmothers pillowcases that she had embroidery and i took them and this and made it a pillow for her bedroom, she cried when i gave it to her!
Oh, Cindy, that s lovely! What a thoughtful thing to do. I bet your work was gorgeous. I think I might have cried too. What a very kind present! Xx

Stunning Teresa. I love the design. I think I would hang or attach this on a window to let the light stream through it, would look lovely! 🙂🧡
Hi Louise. I hope you're well. Funnily, I ve just finished my couple of hours in the cathedral.and the sun has been shining through the stained glass. It's overwhelming! So beautiful - makes my "stained glass" look like a dish cloth!! 🤣 xx
I love you’re process.I have many unfinished projects and was wondering what the best type of portfolio to put them in.
There s a couple of ways to store them. I like to treat, important, finished work like a wedding dress, wrapped in acid free tissue paper and stored flat in an art portfolio- the type art students buy. Canvas emb can be rolled up and tied, like a scroll. 3D, objects need to be wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a cardboard box . I prick the wrap to allow air in. Don t store any of your work in plastic boxes in case it "sweats". Due to the natural environment and all my fabrics, we have a problem with moths. I still have nt found the answer to this. I ve used natural essential oils, but they don t seem to work either. Hope you're ok Tsering, it's aleays good to hear from you xx
I adore stain glass too! You've made such a beautiful piece of work. It looks fabulous. I'm dispraxic, so can't draw a straight line for toffee😅 lol x
Hi Jacqui. I ve just spent the morning surrounded buy stained glass in "the" cathedral. I don't think I'll ever get used to see the sun shining through those beautiful colours! I sent you a wee, package this morning (Thurs) xx
