Kubota GR2846A Snowblower Gearbox Replacement
I had to replace the gearbox in the GR2846A snowblower and instead of stripping the gears the shaft box. I was amazed with, becasue I don't think that I GR2120 would have enough power to do this.

How did you remove the chain sprocket from the shaft, since it seems to have a spot weld holding it in place? I have a BX2750D blower, and the top sprocket is no longer aligned with the bottom one, the key that locks the sprocket to the axle even seems bent in the key paths.

Good video. Thank you for taking the time to film it. I am still contemplating the pros and cons of a 2120 or going to the BX which are almost the same money. I have a steeply inclined driveway and need something that can move a snowblower up the incline and have been told I need more than an 18hp which the BX 1880 has. The 2120 is advertised on Kubota's USA site as a 17hp, and the dealer has it at 21hp. Kind of confusing and stupid at the same time. Does Kubota know what they are selling or not? What is the hp on your machine? I wish you the best of luck with it and thanks again for this informative video.

I thought that the GR2120 was rated for 21hp. Not sure of the incline that you have, but we used this for the office parking lot and home and it has worked perfectly.

I've had this mower for 8 years now and I'm very disappointed in it. I bought a used Bob Vila Craftsman 21 in lawn tractor that delivered a better cut than this pig. The deck does not have enough lift or suction, I can run over loose leaves laying on the lawn, and this pig will not pick them up. The mulching kit is a joke. You have to remove the deck just to install the mulching kit on it. The performance of the mulching kit is not very good either. It leaves a trail of grass just beyond the discharge chute at the deck. So you have to run back over it, just to pick up all the grass. And that makes extra work a lot. I have a Bob Vila 21 horsepower Craftsman ride-on mower that that I paid $800 for off of Craigslist , and I also got an aerator and a Lawn Sweeper for that price , it delivered a better cut than this mower. The deck, also leaves a row of grass in between the deck blades that the mower will not cut for whatever reason. I've tried everything to remedy this, new blades, different blades, leveling up the deck, but to no avail. the only reason that I bought this mower was for the Glide steer or four-wheel drive capability, but in hindsight I should have gotten a simplicity or even a zero-turn.

Just saw this tonight but had to reply. My BX2750D snow blower attachment (which looks very much like yours) broke in exactly the same spot. We took the unit apart and replaced the shaft for about $100 but it was a pain to do it. Shear bolts? Yes I was using genuine Kubota shear bolts properly installed and they were intact. No clue why that shaft broke.

    • @stigter9459

Yes I also use shear bolts and were also intact for me also. I could not buy just the shaft in Canada, I had to purchase the shaft and the gearbox and it was $700.

@reckrab How did you remove the chain sprocket from the shaft, I wish I won't have to undo the front gear box. I have a BX2750D blower, and the top sprocket is no longer aligned with the bottom one, the key that locks the sprocket to the axle even seems bent in the key paths. I noticed that one of the two (Allen Set Screw) was missing on the sprocket, and the remaining one was loose. It looks like I'm going to have to check the tightness of these set screws every time I oil the chain.

Why didn't your sheer pins brea? Is your auger seized to the shaft? You should coat your shafts with anti seize to prevent this in future. I see this with walk behind snowblowers. The augers are sometimes seized to their shafts because of rust.

I really appreciate this video, since I've been considering buying a GR2020 to replace my old Cub Cadet 129; however, I have to admit that after watching this, I'm not sure I want the Kubota. Both disconnecting the mower deck and (especially) hooking up that front hitch assembly does not look like a simple procedure at all. My Cub is a snap to attach/detach both the mower and the front snow blade. Unfortunately, the local Kubota dealer does not have any of this equipment to show me - only the tractor with mower deck currently attached. I'm a bit discouraged after watching this. Terrific job with the video though!
