Nice work! I am currently a Kenjutsu/ Iaijutsu/ jujitsu instructor and an online student in Asayama Ichiden Ryu. I also had experience in MJIR Iaido. To untrained eyes, Iaido and iaijutsu look the same but they are fundamentally very different as you are figuring out. I wish you the best in your training!
Hi there. You are doing very well! Would I correct to guess you study Shinden Ryu? Just noticed the sageo placement. The second kesa cut on kesa-giri was sweet! If you don't mind me pointing out a few things from a seasoned iaido-ka. When rising after noto during mae through tsuka-ate, try not to lean forward, it looks as if you are pushing off your front leg like you are tired. Rise up as if being pulled from a string attached to the top of your head, it might sound silly, but it helps if you squeeze your inner thighs together. Curious, you don't do a stomp during the "ate" in tsuka-ate? During the ate, try not to lean into the strike, when you do the tsuka drops before you strike. The tsuka should shoot straight out. Tsuka-ate is my favorite out of Seitei. Keep on swingin' my brother!
thanks! this was awhile ago but yea more to keep on improving! in my dojo i wasn't taught to do fumikomi for Tsuka-Ate, but i do see some seniors doing them
S'il exécute un peu plus rapide le SHOMEN UCHI et LE YOKO GURUMA après le NOTO. 😊.Ce serait pas si mal
As I understand it Iaido is about doing moves from normal positions. If you have serious long-term knee injuries, seiza is about as normal as standing on your head...
This just looks like two Iaido styles. Iaido and Iaijutsu are completely different. Iaido draw dose not account for the wakizashi, which is always in your belt. Iaido brings hand to tsuka and pulls out the blade. Iaijutsu brings the handle out to your hand and draws back the saya in a position where the sword is already extended out. Iaido always faces the direction they are going to cut where Iaijutsu sometimes cuts from various directions. Iaido generally cuts, stops, cuts again…. Iaijutsu generally had multiple cuts without ever stopping the motion of f the blade. Iaijutsu generally has sensitivity training, unknown attack response and uses the saya, tsuka, tsuba as weapons setting up opportunities to draw. To un-trained eyes they might look the same but they are completely different in a multitude of ways.
cool
These are the basic iaido moves ?
Thanks 🙏
Hope your keeping well. Your videos are great. I think your overdue an update video :)

Hello ! I stumbled across this, figured I'd watch for old time's sake, and I haven't put a video out in forever! So wanted to say Hi through the medium we used to communicate, to be positive I met a woman, and one who stufies budo! And training got more intense, so no videos for me....but what about you? I haven't seen much, and I hope you're ok and doing well in life! You were rocking a shinken in some of the last videos I saw of yours, and it made so many Sword Friends smile;)
thank you! I've been doing good, yea this is from the old channel, ive been meaning to close it down "eventually" haha and yes I've been doing well - i try to post more on the new channel hopefully at some point i can bring back those old tutorial videos with a new twist too

hahaha
Not only the knee factor Shugyo, we as westerners do not do almost everything in seiza, do not get me wrong, I am not critizicing I love the way of life of the japanese, but starting Iaido at 30 years old doing seiza for the first time is painful, I do Iaido now in seiza with knee pads, but having the option to do it standing up is great, thanks and congratulations for your videos, cheers!
Yes everyone start their Martial Art Journey at different age - so having knee pads is pretty useful because this art demands alot of seiza practice. Even the senior practitioners in Japan at some point couldnt handle it and had to do their art standing
Does anyone know a place in the US to get good starter bokuto and accessories?
Thank you for sharing, I was wondering if this sword was a Chinese made sword?
oh no it isnt its an Iaito from a japanese shop call Sakuraya
at 7.40 you start all 4 kata`s but after chiburi you dont switch legs,as you showed in the beginning? do you need to switch legs or not when you do kata?
for the 4th kata - we dont switch the leg after chiburi

i read your description in this video.... by this mean there is only "way" it is always evolving and to see it as the right or wrong way is to limit oneself?
Is to be open to other "ways" wether we agree with them or not.
@@namazuryusshugyo5214 ahhh thank you then there is always something to be learned
@@kierinsusukaii4745 exactly 😁, because our lifestyles changes with time as well as the environment, so it's the same with martial arts
@@namazuryusshugyo5214 that sounds like a flow.. to accept things as they are even if they are beyond the normal things we are used to... things are happening when they are happening... maybe when we are so focused on the "how" we temporarily slow down progress and reaction...well that depends on the intensity probably I am not sure on this
