Cord reels work because you "WIND" up the cord. Give it some thought. You don't "COIL" the cord. When a cord (or hose) is "UNCOILED" it causes a "TWIST" in the cord (or hose). The twisting from "UNCOILING" causes your electrical wires to shift in relation to the sheathing. Thereafter the extension cord becomes harder and harder to "COIL" up. Winding avoids the coiling. A suggestion to your solution is that if you need more cord unplug your short extension cord, "unwind" more cord then plug in your short cord again. Cordless tools have become so good that I avoid corded tools as much as possible. Extension cords and gasoline powered tools take time and effort away from focusing on your work.

I found a GE microwave by the side of the road that had a similar situation. So, I took it apart until I got to the switches. However, instead of the switch needing to be replaced, it randomly popped out as I was trying to remove it. So, I just used some contact cleaner to clean the top of the button so that it wouldn't stick anymore, and we got a free microwave in the process.

Not two secondary switches. It shouid be one primary (normal open), one secondary (normal open), one monitor (normal close).

My wife is scared because she thinks we are getting zapped with radiation every time we open the door. I told her I am pretty certain it is just the fan. Because I put water in it, with door open and it "running" and the water just stays cold. So it is just the stupid fan running when we open it, correct?

You can accomplish the same thing by leaving a little bit more of the end of the Cord outside the Reel and then you can forgo the little extension cord.
